    About point 6, regen. You forgot the biggest feature of this car: Auto regen with 3 levels! (enabled by holding right shift paddle). Car will automatically start regen harder as you approach roundabouts or traffic in front of you, even if in 0 regen to always cruise.

    (as PHEV 2017 owner) For rear lower mirror rain fogging - I start rear window heating, and visibility improves in few minutes (or swipe it before drive). For "key out of car" warning with engine ON - just do not close all doors on car and alarm will not start-off. ...but that does not mean those are not quirks at least... to add one quirk of my own - when wiper in auto with high intensity, if wipers work faster, they tend to lock in (do not have time to dry out in front of sensor) and must be turned off and on.

    My Ioniq 38kwh has both departure time set and charging schedule. You find the setting by pressing EV button (on climate panel) and on bottom of the screen.

    Another great video Chris, just imagine the range if they could squeeze the same 64kwh battery into it that all the other Kia/ Hyundai have.

    • @Pervypriest

      Then it would have been an E Niro, Hyundai Said it would not raise the car, I guess it would have gone too far away from the Ioniq concept. The tires are slightly taller 60 Vs 55 this is because the battery pack purtroudes a bit more from underneath its chassis.. This also acounts of the 3% error in the in the trip meter..

    The Ioniq does have a departure schedule function and a way to specify the low rate period for electricity. Its the same system on Kia EVs. The scheduling function is in the EV button.

    • @BatteryLife
      @BatteryLife  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it works. Scheduled charging works for special hours.
      What I wanted was, that the car charges to the desired charge limit when a certain time is reached. But this Ioniq started charging right away!

    • @jeanlambertinfo
      @jeanlambertinfo 4 роки тому +3

      Battery Life yes that is true and indeed confusing. I had the same struggle and found it illogic to not be able to specify the charging start time. The workaround I found was simply using the BlueLink app and manually starting the charge which is handy at times and inconvenient if you want it started in the middle of the night 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m surprised you didn’t talk about fast charging speed, most videos annoyingly mention this as a flaw but also fail to mention that fast charging should be the exception since doing so on a regular basis actually reduces the battery life expectancy

    • @BatteryLife

    It's a pity about the charging speed and those haptic buttons on the new model. They got it right the first time. :)

    • @targas1008
      @targas1008 4 роки тому +3

      Yes, it‘s abit of a pity. However it‘s related to less cobalt in the cells which is a good thing. In addition it‘s to increase the longivity of the battery which is good as well. Then thinking on how often you drive more than 250km and would need to wait 15 additional minutes in those cases, it‘s a matter on how often this would apply to your driving profile. For me it‘s good enough to live with it.. The tendency to move away from haptic buttons is a poor design choice, which wouldn‘t cost a fortune to fit into. Maybe it‘s because you shouldn‘t drive and play around, however it would be much safer in any cast to use haptic buttons. I agree. It‘s annoying, but something one can live with IMHO.

  • @TassieEV

    I agree with most of it. Not sure about LFA but that is a personal choice thing anyway. Though my car only has LKAS being the classic Ioniq 28kWh. My car though has both a Trip A & Trip B so odd that the new one doesn't unless that is a German model only thing or European model thing. I'm happy I have physical buttons, after I saw the new model I was happy I got the older model, though I can only charge to 100% no charge limit option unless I manually time it and stop it myself. Overall I totally agree with your assessment.
    The tire spin thing is crazy, think it is something to do with tires that Hyundai picked you could get softer ones but would make it less efficient I'm thinking but better grip in wet.

    Useful stuff, the Ioniq does look like it should be efficient, it’s low and sleek compared to even really decent EVs like the Kona. In the UK, I am more mixed up now as to what units we are going to use than ever! - but 5/8 of the kmh number is mph, so that means your 180kph is 22.5 x 5 = 112.5mph. That extra is not a speed range commonly used, but it’s nice to have the ‘headroom’ or know the car is in its comfort zone doing the major hiway/motorway speeds. Thanks for documenting this car’s capabilities. Keep safe and be equal, everybody.

    • @sleekitwan
      @sleekitwan 3 роки тому +1

      @Name not supplied Yes, 10 divided by 16 (1.0 div by 1.6) is the same as 5/8. You must be the post-calculator generation, I prefer to calc stuff in my head. Here’s a party trick you can do to people who are similarly post-calculator: you know how there’s people who can recall ‘Pi’ to a thousand decimal places? I can remember it to even greater accuracy…(pause for the group to expect you to reel off a series of digits)…22/7 is Pi exactly. That, is more accurate than 3.141 etc (can’t recall the rest). Decimal is a great system, but fractions have advantages that are impossible to beat. Finally, you are right and we are in agreement. I am just explaining why I use fractions. It’s all good.

      I tried it a few minutes ago. After I defined my departure time and the desired SoC in the Bluelink app and sent it to the car, charging was immediately interrupted. In the app you can see that the car will be charged according to the planned departure time.

    • @gerbre1
      @gerbre1 4 роки тому +1

      The 28 kWh classic Ioniq offers schedule charging. You set days of the week, time of departure and optional heating on the screen of the car in the EV section (easy to find there). So the car is charged (to 100%, no restriction here) and warm when you want to depart. When you have set scheduled charging and plug-in, the charging does not start immediately, instead one of the three blue LEDs in the front is blinking. I'm quite sure the new Ioniq also offers this feature.

    Hi Chris
    I have the 28kwh Ioniq and I have the LKA/LFA menu on the steering wheel buttons. It's the same menu where you enable and adjust the electric seat comfort function.
    I can set up there what option I want as default regarding LKA/LFA or off.
    It should be the same in the new model also.
    About the buzzer for the 'key not in the car' warning, I will locate it and put a bit of duct tape over it so it will sound more discrete. More like a reminder then an alarm 😉
    About the drops of water left on the small back window, they don't bother me because that viewing angle is not really necessary for me, unless I want to see the licence plate of the cars behind me. (and the new model has the rear view camera for that if needed) ☺
    The wheel spin for me is no issue. I am not a sporty driver aniway, but I have already adapted to it pretty quick. Also lowering a little bit the front tyre preassure will help if not possible to get softer rubber tyres.
    Great video.
    I wish you ordered an Ioniq instead 😁

      @@BatteryLife ah yes. Also the best solution for battery longevity.
      You could cheat the system I suppose: set the off peak time to be the same as your departure time. If you had the same daily routine this might be possible - or you could use the charge current settings and choose a rate to help timing.
      Probably need someone to do chart showing how long and at what current the car would need to be set, to deliver the correct finish time!
