Hey, i really love the videos you make, detailing the accuracy of each aspect of the watch. I suggest you make a video on the Huawei watch fit special edition. They have said that they've improved the accuracy. Thanks!
How did you measure weightlifting session results? in which option of training parameters? I've been looking for that option and didnt noticed that particular one - only pile of running and cycling nonsense...:) Although ,that was in the store,so maybe not all of them were shown in that "test" watch. Now,I believe it has one - if Xiaomi got one Huawei must have it,too. Did you found it or what would be proper alternative for weightlifting measurement in presented options on the workout list?
Reviews on this channel did make a huge difference for me. I'm not even near exercises for now so accurate resting heart rate was very important for me. No money for apple wach (not even SE) so needed the most accurate band for the lowest price. I used Honor Band 6 and now using Huawei watch fit 2. As they use same mobile app I can only recommend it as great. I also think this band, with this score is 'best buy' as long as heart rate maters... Omg! I'm so glad to found this channel that helped me a lot over year! Thank you Rob!!
I bought the band 8 today based on your band 7 review since the sensors are identical and the only slight difference is on the design. I didn't bother about sleep tracking as my focus was on accurate heart rate and fitness tracking (with a decent clock interface and timer/stopwatch). I am surprised to see the review published today and it is extremely reassuring that I made a good purchase. Your reviews are excellent and have definitely saved me some good amount of money!
Can you use stopwatch while also tracking a workout? Basically if I wanted to time my sets while also tracking the workout alongside without pausing or stopping the actual workout mode?
I managed to get Huawei band 8, so I did some tests myself and compared with my band 7. The exercise was walking outdoors, according to GPS the distance was 3 km, according to band 7 - 2,74 km, and band 8 - 2,63 km. The pulse was almost exactly the same on both devices, 122 medium and 146 max on band 7, 124 medium and 146 max on band 8. The second device picked up 46 more steps, with average length 4 cm shorter. I did couple other measurements on different distances and conclusions were the same - band 8 lowers the distance comparing to reality, while pulse measurement is basically the same with band 7. I can't say anything yet about other activities nor I haven't compared these two when they co-op with GPS from phone. But it someone only needs a daily tracker for steps and burned calories, then no need to upgrade from 7 to 8.
Out of all the watch review channels this channel is one of the very best out there, especially because he gives objective results and tests them properly and not just based on how he feels. A true content creator.
I was waiting for this since I bought it last week and I knew (guessed) what your results would be like. So, thanks again for the effort you put in those reviews! I think it's fantastic. I am using it for crosstrainer and health tracking, especially for sleep. Though you can't select heart rate tracking frequency by settings, because its either off or auto, and in auto when you're not moving the intervals spread up to 10 mins, there is a workaround. Just record your night as a training (I'm using yoga) and recording 6 or 7 oder even 12 hours of training is no problem. Also, contrary to the manual, the band will do SPo2, Stress and even sleep tracking simultaneously, and this is exactly what I wanted. The Band 8 sells offcially for have the price of the watch fit 2 which is unbeatable. Compared to that the mi bands are disappointing. Even the newest one shows no substantial improvment to its predecessor. The 7 can't even track a simple crosstrainer session correctly, so I am done with xiaomi and wrist bands and particularly the mi fitness app.
@@TheMaximer16 Not good for sleep stage tracking. But it detects beginning and end of sleep quite well and I was primarily interested in what my heart does at night.
Have been using this Huawei Band 8 for almost two months now. I don't really mind about the sleep tracking because I use it for running and monitoring my heart rate. Really like the quick reply function and it works well with my Samsung S22+. Always on display watch faces are quite nice too. For the price I paid, I think this band is awesome 😁
I saw your video on Mi Band 8 first when i was about to buy it, and was enough to not purchase and instead went for the Huawei band 8 based on your review on the Band 7. I'm glad it was the right purchase and your video made a HUGE DIFFERENCE! KEEP UP THE GREAT CONTENT!

hi! thank you for the video, I decided to get the band 8 after watching your GW6 video, saves me money 😂👌. I also wanted to share my experience with the band 8, I used Galaxy Watch Active 1 since 2019, last year the screen pops out and i glued it again, my main issue with the watch after 4 years of use mainly is the heart rate tracking, some days it detects my RHR fine, but some days it won't even detects RHR at all. GW6 was my main choice, but after your review, I decided to better save money and get a cheap one instead. So far with the band, the good: - battery life, it felt so good not to charge the watch once every 2-3 days - heart rate detection is decent and fast - it's light and doesn't protrude that much from your wrist - step count is decent, it quickly detects when i walk (the GWA has some delays registering the steps, I don't know if this is an aging device issue or is it because i'm not using a samsung phones) - has SPO2 tracking Now, the not so good, as I come from the galaxy watch active: - screen aren't so bright for sunny outdoor (at least for me) - for some reason i cannot find the option to automatically pause walk / running when stationary (the GWA has this) - exercise options are limited, in GWA you can chose bench press exercise, I can only find strength in the band 8. It also detects less calories when weightlifting compared to the GWA. Another, the nitpicks: - vibration feels cheap, it gets annoying when you set any chat notifications and the chat is active (it's a different price point than the GWA though, so it's kinda okay, minor annoyances) - there's so many permissions for the app, so if you're conscious with privacy, maybe try other devices? - it takes time o adjust to the huawei health app, while it's better than installing the samsung health and galaxy wearable, the experience is totally cluttered, experience wise, S Health feels better to navigate (this might be my bias too as I've used the S Health for 4 years now) - the not so robust exercise options While i can't say much about the accuracy, i'd say for the price, you get a really decent heart rate tracker!
Interestingly, a new Huawei Watch fit just came out! Watch fit Special Edition. You can only order it in Germany and Brazil for some reason. But it seems to have improved tracking, screen and programs. Maybe something you can test?
Based on your findings, Band 8 is a super alternative to any smartwatch and superior in terms of price to quality. In Indonesia, its one of the most popular watch for that reasons even though huawei is not so popular in the smartphone industry, buyers are well informed of its quality when compared to more popular indonesian market brands such as Xiaomi, Fitbit, Apple and even Samsung watches.
Your (fantastic) work has been critical in saving my wallet & my health. Until a budget wearable that tracks sleep-stages accurately is produced, I will not be wasting any more money. I am really impressed with the statistical visualization, and wonder how you managed to export the data from the devices? Not satisfied with previous purchases, I attempted to do the same, but no pre-made libraries or APIs existed. Am I correct in assuming you developed a 3rd party data-communication solution?
I bought the gt runner because of your review and I am extremely happy with it so thank you. I had mixed experiences with Huawei watches, but their software sopport is pretty solid and the health app useful.
Same here. I came from 2 Garmins, and they are good all-round watches, but so boring and crap watch faces. Huawei’s screens and watch faces totally rock, and their battery life is unparalleled, I’m getting 10 days on average. Heart rate tracking is what I need, and the GT Runner certainly doesn’t disappoint. Sleep tracking is however quite disappointing, though sleep tracking in general, irrespective of watch brand, is not as useful for me as a watches’ fitness tracking capabilities. I am waiting for the GT4 to drop as a worthy replacement for my GT Runner.
@@idleprepress true. Personally, i am concerned about the heart rate sensors. Also, unfortunately the best amazfit watches are huge, i could not sleep comfortably with them on. 😔
Thank you, I am getting a starting band for my girlfriend (not sure if she will like using it or not), she is a bit hypochondriac, so I've opted out several obvious options based on the results of the test. Ended up choosing this one.
Deciding which smart watch to buy...love these videos! I am basically watching almost all of them 😂. I had a Xiaomi band 7 but it gabe me problems with the heart tracking and kcal counting, so I here looking for a better still cheap alternative. Provably I gonna buy this one!
Great review as always Rob! Your pleasant, positive attitude really makes watching a 20+ min data driven review about daily tech all the more enjoyable.😎Looking forward to your take on the Mi Smart Band 8 Pro. Cheers!
The huawei band 9 is out now and I noticed that in every review video they keep commenting that they're waiting for your channel to review it. I bought the band 8 because of this awesome video and now we wait for your guidance once again 🙏
I was considering a smart watch for fitness tracking and went straight to your reviews. Awesome as always! They've helped me decide: I've just bought a Huawei Band 8. Thank you so much for the work you put into these reviews! ❤ Cheers from Brazil 🇧🇷
One thing where I found HR tracking fail, was during a prolonged cardio session where my arms would be fully in water. The Band 8 would stop tracking HR when there was any water between the device and forearm.
Love your videos: Suggested Topic- Watch bands. Does a different band make any difference in accuracy? (Many fitness bands come with silicone bands people swap out). Other suggestions: Your heart rate accuracy graphs can hide data because the opaque black clusters of dots near the reference line hide how many samples are in that area. It'd be nice if you did a 3d plot so the height of the cluster indicated how many samples were at a given value. Otherwise, the graph tends to over emphasize relatively few off reference measurements. Also, on your Awake/Deep/REM/Light sleep grid: If a device tends to categorize everything in one category (e.g. Venu 2 tends to lump REM as light), then the accuracy of Light sleep is misrepresented. Since (exaggerated example) a watch that said you are ALWAYS in light sleep would perfectly match the reference light sleep measure. It would show the device extremely accurate on light sleep when it actually is 100% undependable. Stopped watch is right 2x a day. That doesn't mean it's accurate if you only measure at those times. Thanks again for your wonderful and unique videos.
Thank you for the information! I looking now for a week for the right smartwatch/smartband I actually was looking for a fitness tracker because i didn't need al the features of a smartwatch. But than, thanks to this channel, i realized that all the cheaper Fitnesstrackers are very bad at the essential purposes. Because heart rate and sleeping measurements are very important fore me i almost bought a smartwatch even if i didn't need all the others features. But know with the band 8 and youre comment i hope i get the best tracker available:) Thanks
Great review Rob, I'm a bit confused by the heart rate sensor, shouldn't it perform better if you have the TrueSense 5? Or does it not have the same sensor as its older brothers GT3/GT Runner/Watch Fit 2? In any case, I do not regret having bought it, it is very small, comfortable and very precise. If I needed 100% accuracy I would go for a Polar H10. I make a request for you to bring the Huawei Watch 4 please, they included a new sensor that measures HRV, blood glucose and I don't know what else
Amazing video, super informative and reliable showing data compared to top performing devices like the Polar H10. Thanks Rob! Are you planning a video about the Huawei Watch 4 Pro?
Aye that's my comment on the video!😂😂 as a fellow nerd, THANK YOUUUU FOR THE REVIEW ROB!! I'm so happy that I purchased it around $30 price! I hope Huawei updates the sleep tracker algorithm in the future or something, and I hope you review it again in a year or so :))
Hey, your indepth analysis is amazing. Any chance you will be reviewing the Huawei Band 9 soon. I can't decide whether to get the fit 2 or band 9 as the algorithms are newer on the band 9 but the form factor is nicer on the fit 2.

Hesitating to upgrade my Mi band 7 for this for the better heart tracking in weight lifting, the sleep tracking is really a bummer (tho the most important to me is the total hours of sleep)
i guess my mi band 7 heard me and got jealous, the screen popped off for no reason. it still works but i need to glue the screen back. so i will just get the huawei band 8 so that i keep the water resistance
aiks, wish I've seen this before buying my band 8, i bought it to track my sleep. But oh well, still grateful that I've found this video sooner and later, seems like i cant cheap out too much if I'm serious about tracking and improving my sleep haha. thanks so much for the super helpful review !
Huawei would be a decent product (for quite some years now), an excellent device even, if they allowed more seamless syncing between other apps and ANY ability at all to export YOUR OWN health data to GPX, TCX or FIT files. It's really quite ridiculous that after years or users asking for this, it simply does not exist. There are 3rd party sync possibilities but that opens up even further privacy concerns. Huawei loses unfortunately on this front alone, regardless of how much other features improve from release to release.
Loved my band6... was going to buy a band9 but decided to go for the 8 due to your reviews. Huawei is doign a great job and the prices are amazing for what they can do. I had an amazfit before the huawei.. and that was just crap for steps and heartrate was pretty crappy too compared to the cheaper Huawei. Looking forward to seeing how this band 8 performes
I wish you would also try the step count in watches while driving. I bought this watch because of your review but it had inaccurate step count while driving. It could have saved me much money and time😢
Fyi for those interested, after further research I found out that there is no way to access the raw data from Huawei wearables and therefore some of the most reliable 3rd party apps, like sleep for android, can't use it's data to calculate it's own sleep/fitness data. Unfortunate, I was really hyped to have such good sensors in a long lasting battery and small device.
Which one should I go for Huawei fit 2 vs Huawei band 8 vs Huawei GT runner. Fit 2 is 128 dollars, gt runner is 142 dollars and band 8 is 43 dollars in my region
I think that your tests are missing one very key test and that is a calorie count test. One that counts your whole day and one that counts only your workout. This is very important for me and for many people that workout and count calories. In my testing done loong ago, Gear S3 from samsung failed horribly. They were basically making those numbers up and did not use the heart rate data to compute the calorie count, even during workouts. However, second gen of apple watch were already amazing at this, calculating quite accurately the amount of calories burned. Please consider this as a new addition to your metrics. Thanks.
@TheQuantifiedScientist did you ever retest the HuwaeiBand7 after the major firmware update? I think your measurements are all based on the older firmware.
WOW, now THIS is a review!! Science based and unrefutable. I'm on a new health and fitness journey and was on the fence about ordering this watch because of the low price but I will definitely order it off the back of this review (regardless of the below par sleep tracking which Im not bothered about), DANKE!! 😁
Hi Rob, thank you for another excellent video. I have used the Huawei Watch Fit Gen 1 for the last few months as a heart rate tracker only and against an Apple Watch S5 it has been very impressive. It seems that Huawei have 'mastered' HR at least. My question for you (and maybe a topic for a future video??) is this: if a tracker on the wrist is consistently good at HR how can it be so poor at sleep tracking? Are the sleep trackikng issues hardware related or software related or a combination of both?
It's not all heart rate for sleep tracking. They might be relying on their good heart rate detection, without capturing and understanding important movement and temp changes at the wrist.
I've watch so many of your great videos and the only thing I think you rarely take into account is the software support side..that is to say the software updates. I've owned many of the Huawei, Honor and Xiaomi watches and fitness bands and they all suffer from a severe lack of support. Basically, what you get is what you have years down the line. I also own multiple Samsung watches (4,5 and 6) and these get updates, fixes constantly.

Sleep tracking is however quite disappointing, though sleep tracking in general, irrespective of watch brand, is not as useful for me as a watches’ fitness tracking capabilities. I am waiting for the GT4 to drop as a worthy replacement for my GT Runner.
@@000T00bI have a question, why would I want to track my hearth beat frequency?
it's crazy how accurate it is, considering the price point. I just canceled my Amazfit "beautiful" watch for this! lol
Amazfit would probably perform better in sleep tracking.
@@idleprepress true. Personally, i am concerned about the heart rate sensors. Also, unfortunately the best amazfit watches are huge, i could not sleep comfortably with them on. 😔
Amazfit Band 8 will be out soon. Might be worth waiting because the Zepp app is much better than Huaweis.
Thank you, I am getting a starting band for my girlfriend (not sure if she will like using it or not), she is a bit hypochondriac, so I've opted out several obvious options based on the results of the test. Ended up choosing this one.
wow this realy suprised me how good the huawai band 8 is. 100% will buy it
Thanks Rob! Just ordered one today for mainly outdoor running, and it was on sale! :)
Deciding which smart watch to buy...love these videos! I am basically watching almost all of them 😂.
I had a Xiaomi band 7 but it gabe me problems with the heart tracking and kcal counting, so I here looking for a better still cheap alternative. Provably I gonna buy this one!
so? any updates?
Даже и не подозревал что существует видео на тему подробного сравнения измерения показателей с профессиональным оборудованием. Отличное видео!
Great review as always Rob! Your pleasant, positive attitude really makes watching a 20+ min data driven review about daily tech all the more enjoyable.😎Looking forward to your take on the Mi Smart Band 8 Pro. Cheers!
Mí Band 8 pro is out now?
@@iktheboy7594 I believe it released quite recently for China. Might be a couple months until it reaches Global market.
The huawei band 9 is out now and I noticed that in every review video they keep commenting that they're waiting for your channel to review it. I bought the band 8 because of this awesome video and now we wait for your guidance once again 🙏
Hi! I would love to , but Huawei doesn’t sell it in Europe yet, and they won’t ship me a sample…
One week using the Huawei band 8 , very happy , reliable sensors and working perfect on iPhone
Wear a sweatband on the firearm to stop sweat running down.
Amazing review, sir. Keep doing nice quality reviews as you're the one doing at this level.
Band 9 is out. I need one ASAP. im not sure if i can wait. I might get samsung fit 3 or band 8.
I have gt 3 pro and this band 8. Band 8 have the same results like gt 3 pro :)
Thank you for the information!
I looking now for a week for the right smartwatch/smartband
I actually was looking for a fitness tracker because i didn't need al the features of a smartwatch. But than, thanks to this channel, i realized that all the cheaper Fitnesstrackers are very bad at the essential purposes.
Because heart rate and sleeping measurements are very important fore me i almost bought a smartwatch even if i didn't need all the others features.
But know with the band 8 and youre comment i hope i get the best tracker available:)
Thanks
Watching your video is like reading a scientific journal. Really impressive and informative!
Also, remember it lets you connect an external heart rate monitor to it if you want the 100% accuracy the watches cannot get.
@@matiasrisso5917 Why are you telling me the same thing I just wrote?
Amazing video, super informative and reliable showing data compared to top performing devices like the Polar H10. Thanks Rob!
Are you planning a video about the Huawei Watch 4 Pro?
Did you see the new HUAWEI WATCH FIT SE? Eagerly waiting for your review and hopefully compare it to the Watch FIT 2!!!
It really has no restrictions in America but only in the US.
Hey, your indepth analysis is amazing. Any chance you will be reviewing the Huawei Band 9 soon. I can't decide whether to get the fit 2 or band 9 as the algorithms are newer on the band 9 but the form factor is nicer on the fit 2.
Data never lies. Thank you for doing these videos.
Thank you very much for your detailed review! It's very interesting to see a detailed review on Huawei watch 4 pro

This is very valuable information, thank you!
What I'm interested in is if it can record HR during swimming. Not a lot of the trackers do and even less do a good job at it.
Thank you!! I give up my order after seeing this video as the main purpose for me to buy huawei band 8 is for sleep tracking.
which is better for sleep up to 50 usd?
Keep the hard work loving the content I’m really grateful
Huawei band 9 just out now, pls pls pls do a quick scientific review about it 😁😁
Was waiting on this review - thanks. I presume the Sp02 measurement hasn't changed from the Band 7?
I was waiting for this. Great video!
This is truly amazing to have some advanced review like this. Thank you very much.
This video is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks so much!
So glad its not better than fit2 as I bought it couple days before this released, thanks for review, top notch as always 👍
I guess this is the best analysis video i ever seen. Specially sleep validation with 2 devices, many thanks.
Hesitating to upgrade my Mi band 7 for this for the better heart tracking in weight lifting, the sleep tracking is really a bummer (tho the most important to me is the total hours of sleep)
Tbh for me the sleep tracking of huwawei band 8is so dang accurate
i guess my mi band 7 heard me and got jealous, the screen popped off for no reason. it still works but i need to glue the screen back. so i will just get the huawei band 8 so that i keep the water resistance
which is better for sleep up to 50 usd?
Finally, the Band 8 review, and 3.5 stars make me confident to not buy other sports tracker to change my band 8. Cheers my dude :D
aiks, wish I've seen this before buying my band 8, i bought it to track my sleep.
Huawei loses unfortunately on this front alone, regardless of how much other features improve from release to release.
what is a good watch for data export?
Will there be a Huawei Watch 4\4 Pro test? And if so, how soon? I'm looking forward to the test from you
The one chart showed the Huawei Watch 4, so I guess the review will be released soon.
@@krns1617 May I inquire as to the specific moment within the video you are referring to?
@@HanifYahaya Sorry, I think I misread it.
Rob, what's the difference between these two samples? Are they for different markets or is it a matter of chance?
Thnx rob, great review. Bought the band 8 tracker, but how did you track the outdoor cycling? Since i cant find it in the training options. Cheers
Thanks for these great reviews!
Any chance to test the Casio smartwatches?
Thanks!
It could have saved me much money and time😢
Eagerly waiting for your review of the Galaxy watch 6 and the Huawei Watch 4 series. Thanks for all that you do!
I've been waiting for this video, bcos I'm really want to bought this watch. Thank you for your review 👍🏻
As Master of Industrial Engineer in Researcher of Ergonomic, i agree with you
Since the sensors are really good, wouldn't the tracking be good when used with another sleep tracking software, like sleep for android?
Fyi for those interested, after further research I found out that there is no way to access the raw data from Huawei wearables and therefore some of the most reliable 3rd party apps, like sleep for android, can't use it's data to calculate it's own sleep/fitness data. Unfortunate, I was really hyped to have such good sensors in a long lasting battery and small device.
Which one should I go for Huawei fit 2 vs Huawei band 8 vs Huawei GT runner. Fit 2 is 128 dollars, gt runner is 142 dollars and band 8 is 43 dollars in my region
Thanks for reviewing Huawei band 8. I requested it as well
Thanks a lot for your reviews. They are really very useful and interesting.
I always wonder how you are able to get data to analyze from Huawei?
Review huawei watch fit se
Already waiting for the Galaxy watch 6 sleep review! Rob is the Best
Wooh! I was looking yesterday on the channel if this review had already been released
Please do the new Amazfit band 7 please
Thank you! I have subbed to you only for this review and I am not disapointed. Not in you and not in my purchase of the huawei band 8.
Thanks a lot for this
great review. I wonder if the steps tracking is accurate, have you tested that yet?
Bought Huawei band 8 thanks to your review.
Thanks.
Hello Rob whenever you test any Huawei/Honor Smartwatch kindly switch health monitoring from Smart to 24*7..You will see amazing results ...
hello! can you do a comparison vid between this and the huawei watch fit 2?
@TheQuantifiedScientist did you ever retest the HuwaeiBand7 after the major firmware update? I think your measurements are all based on the older firmware.
thank you Mr. Rob, really appreciate it for your review
WOW, now THIS is a review!! Science based and unrefutable. I'm on a new health and fitness journey and was on the fence about ordering this watch because of the low price but I will definitely order it off the back of this review (regardless of the below par sleep tracking which Im not bothered about), DANKE!! 😁
Can you please make a review on the new release Huawei Band 9....it would mean a lot if you do... Thank You
Hope you could do a review of the Huawei Watch Ultimate. I really enjoy watching your informative videos. More power!
Thank you for reviewing band 8! Waiting your review on HUAWEI watch 4😜
Do a coros pace 2 scientific review! Love your videos, one of the best channels in UA-cam.
I would imagine it's a software issue.
Although it might also be related to a bad accelerometer which wasn't tested in this video.
Absolutely great video 😄 just a little bit sad that the sleep tracking doesn't perform well
How is the amazefit band 7 ...? Please do a review
