It would be more close to the radiator and fans if anything, directly below the headlights and blinkers, its usually empty space, not too hot and no wind.
Happens all the time, and usually cats die this way. One time when I was a kid, my dad checked under the hood before starting up an old truck that my grandfather had sent to us from Florida- all the way up the East Coast! There was the sweetest little kitten curled up sleeping in there, and he was luckily okay. I don't know which state he came from or how it happened, but I had that cat for 17 years- best, most loving kitty ever in the history of cats. Like a gift from Heaven. ALWAYS LOOK UNDER THE HOOD!
My employer lost her litter, 3 of them, only to found them died from overheat inside engine section just like this. This is a very tough cat you got there
Gus the cat was lucky, looks like he was in front of the radiator and the fan prob kept him alot cooler then if he was right next to the engine block. goes to show if u have a cat and it likes hte outdoors, knock on ur hood to check if u hear purring during the winters
Is not a hero, lol everything now in days is labeled as hero. He just helped like any other person would do. Plus, he being recorded so of course he will help out
I remember when i was a kid and we found a kitten hiding in the wheelwell of the car trying to keep warm from the engine heat we took her in and had her for 22yrs till she passed away of old age i miss that old girl
❤ ur comment. I had my Mary Jane for 18 yrs and she passed when I was 25. I’m now 63 and at least a few times a year I feel her pressing paws on my chest.
My family had a cat that liked to hide in the engine during the winter in her later years, a few times she was still in it when we drove off, and all but one time she managed to meow loud enough for me to hear her, so we were able to safely drive her back before we had even reached the end of the street. The one time she didn't, she fell out on the main highway, somehow managing not to get hit by any other car, and by sheer luck, my little sister found her just driving to our folks house for a visit by the side of the road. Amazingly, she only had some bumps, bruises, and mild road rash.
Aww, that's lovely! Thank goodness that cop stopped the lady- it was a very fortunate twist of fate! You can tell how happy she is to have her sweet kitty back, he's in good hands!
The woman is weird. Instead of jumping out of the car at the possibility to see her missing cat, she kept sitting and doing nothing. Then, she didn't even hug the cat when the officer got him out. This cat deserves a better mom.
Damn. Happened to me too. Except that I was so lucky to discover my cat on my own. Made me realise cats love to sleep inside the jeep when it's cold out.
@traybern agreed, but in fairness sometimes Siri makes the spelling errors and we don’t catch them. Even worse, I have verified that speech to text is correct and Siri changes it to something incorrect as I hit send.
Aww I hope the cat was okay so glad it was rescued that was such a heartwarming video to watch thank you the cop who realized the purring was coming from the car and helped find the family car 💕
This happened to my grandparents once, only it wasn't their cat. It was my aunt's cat. They had been visiting and drove several miles to a hotel. He wasn't stuck. They saw him walking around in the parking lot.
My family cat was inside my brother's car and he ran over him. It was an unavoidable accident. We miss him so much. I felt bad for my brother, he had to go to work.
I’m a 63 yr old Man sitting with tears in my eyes. God Bless Mom Deputy Allan and of course Gus, who just wanted to talk about an Extended Warranty 😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
So happy 😊 of this happy ending. I’m missing my cat for over a week now. From the part of the world where I live, no need to look for it. He’s “gone” 😢…
I hope she didn't leave Gus outside unsupervised. She didn't seem that concerned and was laughing when the officer was pulling him out. Please don't get a cat if you're planning on leaving it outside unsupervised and have no regard for their safety.
This should serve as a warning that cats tend to seek warmth or safety under car hoods & chaises especially during cold 🥶 winter season so we should always check under the car & hood before driving off!
And after 48 hours of intense labor, the car gave birth to a cat, and the cop was the doctor. The mom was so happy when her baby came out. She named him Gus.
That cat is one resilient little guy. 240 miles in that hot engine bay sounds insane
He's probably pretty dehydrated. That's a lucky cat
You should try it yrself, might not be so horrible. Open up, try new things I give you permission. 🙏
He was in the front grill not the engine bay. Not as hot as air comes thru their to cool the engine
Wait What???!!!!!!!!😅😅😮
fan would have kept him cooler. lucky cat@@webguy943
It is a miracle that this cat survived being trapped in a cars engine for two days
Not the engine, it would have died, just the engine Bay Area.

So glad she found her little guy safe with this deputy's help. That could've ended very badly.

Yeah, cats having 9 lives is a familiar myth

That cat for sure got more than 9 lives. Good to hear that his is safe and in good health
The fact that the owner never figured out her own cat was in her grill for 240+ miles is ludicrous. She should be ashamed of herself.

This traffic stop obviously happened for a reason! I can’t believe he was still ok.
Cats climb into and on top of car engines in the winter to keep warm. Poor old Gus probably got stuck after looking for a cozy sleeping spot.
As it starts to get colder cats (typically strays) will hide out where it’s warmer like your engine. So please check your engine before starting it.
Great job! Glad the officer caught that!
