I was in the shower and my cat, Snoop, kept meowing and even got in the shower under the water to try to get my attention, and when I followed him, there was a candle that had ignited on the stove with flames shooting up about 6 feet! Cats do care and will show it when needed.

"Ron adopted Fuffy from a friend not too long ago" It was probably already named Fluffy, given the wording of this statement and the fact the age it appears to be.
It is a myth that cats are self centred and they show no affection,in contrast they are very independent and intelligent beings. Such a heart warming story, really loved it.
When I was a kid, a coyote wandered to our house and was standing a few feet away as I played in the yard. (A lot of them lived across the street in a huge field.) The coyote and I were staring at eachother when suddenly my cat jumped down from the tree directly between us. She was all fluffed up, back arched, and hissed at the coyote. The coyote got scared off. I always think about that. She was risking her life to save me. It was awesome.
People who say cats only care about their own and that they are assholes, never understood a cat for real. Cats are protectors too, not only dogs. It doesn't matter which being it is, if it loves you, it will protect you, even when facing their own death.

@@geraltofrivia4651 yeah it probably didn't, but it's not a lie that some larger house cats are able to hiss and growl in really intimidating ways if you're a burglar and don't know what's on the other side of the door so it can be enough to make someone reconsider that house specifically.
It's like that old saying. "I thought I saved my cat's life, but in the end, my cat saved me." Obviously this goes for any pet. In this case, it was very literal.
He didnt really save the cats life. If im not mistaken it was adopted from a friend, so it was probably one of the kittens from that friends cat. So if he hadn't taken fluffy, it would've just gone to another owner.
My old black cat saved my husbands life about 7 years ago. He was accidentally overdosing on his medication while I was asleep. My cat uncharacteristically kept nudging me and woke me up. I found him unconscious and struggling to breathe. He almost died that day. I owe his life to my old cat… I miss him so much. Love you Nook!
This man was living by himself, but he was definitely not alone- his wonderful sweet cat, Fluffy, gave him companionship and even saved his life along the way.
And this is why, if you are elderly and living alone, you should have a dedicated person call you twice a day to check if you're OK. No answer... wheels get set in motion.
The fact that not only did it go for the cell phone after being asked to.... but brought the cell phone back....and he had only had this cat for a short while...is nothing short of amazing. This cat is still a kitten yet.... not even a full year old. He's really super lucky to have it.
Been rescuing cats for decades.. Not once a cat disturbed any object lol. On the contrary, they gracefully maneuvered around them. That said, Gwen Cooper's (famous writer) blind black cat saved her from rape n possible murder by an intruder. And, my own cat saved me from suicide.
Cats understand more than we give them credit for. I never tried to teach my cat any commands. When he was 9 years old I got a small dog. I taught the dog to sit, stay, lay down, come etc. I always made the dog sit to get her treat. I would then hand one to the cat as well just to be "fair". One day I decided to ask the cat to "sit" for his treat. It took three requests, but then he did it. He is as reliable with the command as the dog is now. I didn't have to teach it, he just observed the dog.
True. I never teach my cat about potty training, but I just put my kitten in front of my other cat who is using the litter box. I did that for several times, and my kitten do the job right away. They only need to watch to learn
Cats get a reputation of being untrainable because dogs are merely eager to please, the cat needs to get something out of it that it thinks it worth its time and effort. Cats are trainable, they're just not suckers.
I love this story. It’s true-cats can be just as clever, loyal and loving as dogs or any other pet. Bravo to little Fluffy, and may Mr. Ron rest in peace. ❤

My 19 year old cat has shocked me with her intelligence. I've had dogs before and I kinda gave up because dogs are so loud, obnoxious and destructive. Then I ended up with my girlfriends cat, and everything changed. This cat is incredibly sweet and loving and smart! She has literally prevented harm to me by running up and down my body meowing loudly as I slept in my motorhome while some people were attempting to break in to the RV and woke me up! She also sounds like she answers certain words with meows that sound like she's trying to pronounce certain simple words like 'yeah' 'what'', and a few other one syllable words..her answers even making sense to what I ask her. I've told other cat owners about this and they were like: yeah my older cat can do that too. I love this cat now so dearly and with all my heart and she makes it known she loves me too. It only took two months to truly bond with the cat and the cat with I, now me, my girlfriend and this cat are inseparable. If someone says they hate cats then they've obviously never owned one.
I love both animals I’m never one sided between “cats and dogs” that’s just retarded and every animal is clearly different some dogs are very chill and calm as some cats who’re very energetic but I’m not divided between which one is best I love and appreciate both type of animals
Yes, it is a red flag if someone hates cats. Narcissists prefer dogs since they are blindly "loyal" and don't care for any other animals. You need to earn the trust of cats (and other non-dog pets). I've worked with both and a lot of dog owners (usually pitbull owners) always said how they hated cats and let their dog attack small animals. Horrible people. I love all kinds of animals, big and small and always try to let people know, sometimes, if a dog isn't the best pet for their lifestyle, to give a different animal a chance of a loving home.
I just said 'Ring a Ding' to my cat. She looked at me for about 3 seconds and then she started licking her legs. So I guess I'm screwed if I ever fall in the shower.

Cats are much smarter than people think. About ten years ago I adopted a tiny kitten from the humane society. I left my two boy cats to watch over her while I was gone because they took to her right away and is still very protective of her to this day. When I came home I was looking everywhere and I couldn't find her. Out of desperation I asked my oldest cat where's the baby help me find her. He looked at me with this bored look, walked from the kitchen through the living room and walked to the plant she was sleeping in, in the dining room. He stood next to the plant and then looked up at me like here she is. Ten years later and it still freeks me out, I had no idea he would understand me.

Similar thing happened to me, but I used to own a barn cat and I know she recently had kittens. One day while I was outside she started calling to me. I remember just following her and everytime I would stop she would look back and wait for me until I started following again. I even recorded her doing this! It was so magical
Similar story here. I have 2 cats, one female one male. The male cat gets crazy with his hormones sometimes and can't help but to pee somewhere in the house. He was outside and my mom smelled the pee. She was looking around, searching for the paddle, and the feline was watching her. She said "don't look at me like this, better show me where Pieszczoch (cat's name, polish) peed" and the cat lead her to where he peed. She got petted thoroughly of course :) she's very smart. He is too, he understands when I tell him to meow for me and other stuff.
One time my cat was bothering me while I was studying for finals. I pointed and told her to go take her aggression out on her scratching post. She left the room and after I finished studying she was sitting by the scratching post, with the most patient look on her face 😭 never again will I underestimate their comprehension!

i have a theory. Animals communicate by brain waves (that's why you don't see them "talking"). When a human says something to a dog and the dog "acknowledges" that, it's not the "voice" but the person's intent manifested by the his brainwaves while he's talking. Sure, some common words are just understood by animals because they associate sounds with actions ("let's go OUTSIDE" - "outside" is interpreted as a unique "sound" meaning "to go for a walk", and the dog goes for the front door automatically, in this case, by "conditioned reflex".
@@webgpu Humans are animals. If all other animals could communicate that way except us, that'd be weird. Also there are lots of animals that communicate through sound, such as dolphins and crows.

Twenty minutes flat, I'll bet. Time it next time he does it. My late hubby was bipolar. The disease took him to some very dark places. Milo, our orange tabby, would come to his chair and touch his arm with a soft paw. He would observe the response. If the face was angry, he would depart for a few minutes and then check again. If the face was sad, but not angry, Milo would sit on my husband's chest and purr for exactly 20 minutes. You could time him and it was 20 minutes exactly. Then, Milo would move to the arm of the chair, or perhaps the kitchen for a snack. Milo gave purring treatment for depression regularly. He was better than my hubby's shrink. (As opposed to any companion animal, etc.) It’s also interesting, because my observation is cats get less love than dogs because they don’t necessarily need to please, or because it’s less easy to understand them, their emotions for ‘normal’ humans.. so I’m super fascinated to know what it is about them that makes someone with autism connect so strongly. Is it because of their tendency of calmer temperament, less all over the place energy? I for one have had as many amazing experiences with dogs as cats.. 1st love of my life was a cat, second a dog :)
Horses too. Dogs, Cats and horses have been together with humans the longest. But there is something about all animals we can learn and most being around us makes us better
My moms cat was always indifferent to me for the first year we had him, but when I rolled both my ankles and was bound to the couch for a week, I wasn't alone once. He was laying on me and purring the whole time, always on my legs or laying over my ankles while he slept. I heard about cat's purrs having healing frequencies and I think he knew I was hurt, so he was trying to help. He's a good little guy.
They really can heal, and there are some studies to back this up, such as how petting animals(especially a relaxed, purring cat) can and will lower a person's high blood pressure. But I truly believe it because I experience it first hand. I'm 29, but I have been sick for years. I got my little Mitty boy nearly 2 years ago and not only had my overall health gotten better randomly, but the thing I notice the most is that especially when he sleeps with me I wake up feeling SO much better than when he doesn't sleep next to me(which is rare at this point).
The frequency of feline purring (in all cats that purr, big and small) seems to assist the cat in healing injured bones, and may be a driving force behind their low rates of bone cancer.
When I had a medical emergency and was on the floor in mind-blowing pain, my cat cried, yowled, and ran around me back and forth and in circles the entire time. He was really, really upset, but obviously didn’t know what to do about it. I ended up crawling outside to wait for my ride to the hospital, because I was really worried for the little guy, who was super stressed and was going to be alone for a while without knowing what was going on. It honestly meant something to me that he was so distressed by my being in pain. You just don’t expect that from cats. We’re both okay now. 😻
I just full on sobbed as this man teared up, talking about how he will never be apart from the cat who saved his life. To think what it must have been like, to lay crumpled on the floor for agonizing hours, flip flopping between hope and terror, acceptance that you might die here in the floor, helpless to just stand up. What it must have felt like to call out the sound a phone makes to your kitten, only for that cat to push the only hope you have of survival off of the counter to you. To have your life actively saved by another living thing.
@@mangey_coyote ohhh, another question, why couldn’t the man reach up onto the counter or pick up the cat and like use it’s paw to slide the phone onto him
@@kai1ey from what I understand he managed to get himself pinned in an awkward position. When you get older your bones and joints become a lot weaker. It’s much easier to get your own arm trapped beneath yourself, too weak or too painful to get free. He was just stuck, helpless.

I don't think it is ethically for people that old to own animals. We hear too many stories of the elderly folks passing away and then their animals being abandoned. Its incredibly sad. The worse ones we hear are when the elderly folks pass away and their animals hang outside the home for years, waiting for their owner to come back. Its just way too sad.
this is 100% a case of "Reaping what you sow" this elderly man, adopted a kitten in his twilight years, and turns out that very act of kindness helped to save his life. I hope someone watching would have an equally large heart and be prepared to adopt "Fluffy" when the kind gentleman's twilight is over.
@@liberals_destroy_everythin2497 are you then suggesting the cat be euthanized? I am pretty sure, as a pet, and multiple rescue cat owner, that most cats would opt for adoption than euthanasia or abandonment. Birds outlive their owners a lot, so do turtles etc. all my cats well except but 1, i am pretty sure they had prior owners that abandoned them. They seem to have adapted fine in a second owner home, with other cats, they are not related to or even knew in their past.
@@liberals_destroy_everythin2497 that is great that is what you want to do. I know people that are 55ish and they just discover how nice it is to have pets and they just put their wishes of what todo with the pet if they were to die. Young people have pets and young people die. If you think some people die unexpectedly, it doesn’t mean they should enjoy having a pet. I read somewhere that people with pets tend to live happier healthier lives that people without them. Many divorced men up in age that do not want another woman in their life, really prefer having a pet. Having the pet outlive you isn’t the end of the world, just the person that died world ended. The pets can get adopted, it isn’t a big deal. The first cat i had over 16 years was adopted by our family because the family that had him couldn’t take care of him anymore, and were moving to a place where they couldn’t have cats or dogs. He knew we were his second family but i am sure he preferred the extra 16 years of life. I have a friend right now with many cats and i am sure if he passes we have to get homes etc for them and get them adopted out. Spay neuter programs really help cut down on unwanted pets but ASPCA states that most euthanized animals come directly from puppy mills, kitten mills. These are the pure bred cats/dogs that had some defect and can get sold, so the shelters are 55% killing animals that were created specifically for profit. Nothing wrong with breeding for profit, but if many of the breeds you have go unadapted, and have to be euthanized, that is much more of a problem than an old guy enjoying the gift of having something/someone in his life. You could go on living 30 more years, and that is two life spans of an average cat or dog. If you don’t want pets at your age, nothing wrong with that. I almost bet if you would get a cat, adopt a rescue, the love that cat would give you, would make you consider seeing my side of this argument. Rescues are seriously grateful. I can’t explain it but somehow, it is if, they know, if it weren’t for the home and food you provide, they would have been destitute. You don’t have to go to a kennel, pound or the humane society to get a great cat. Look on an ad online, sometimes sites have pet adoption areas in their classifieds. There are so many abandoned cats just wanting even a simple home and someone to love and care for them. Who knows, maybe the reason we had this conversation is just to get you to consider the other side of the coin. Even if you didn’t have family to take care of your cat if something (God forbid) would happen to you, you can make arrangements to preadopt and do a very simple will, so you will have peace of mind in your passing that your furry friend would be taken care of. You make a good point about caring for the kitten and it might wind up destitute or one of these stories where the old guy dies and the cat after starving for a few days feast on his owner’s flesh, there is that side. I do think you are looking out for the kitten. That is very cool. I am just saying there are ways that the elderly can have pets. You should really look into it regardless of my suggestion. If you have considered a cat, maybe it is just what you are needing in your life. I have 4 indoor cats, all rescues and even now it is 12:35am (i am in SE Asia) and they killed a baby python, a couple coach roaches a beetle that has long mustache like antennae (they didn’t kill it, it was playing dead until i tossed him out) they break stuff constantly and yet, I wouldn’t trade any one of them for the world. They bring me such joy, and the nice thing about a cat, if they didn’t love you, they won’t show it, and actually if they didn’t like you, they will just leave.
im a firm believer in that animals speak to us, just not with words. they can learn to understand you in bits and pieces, learning cue words and routine. the feeling once we learn to understand their unique language it's an instant connection and just so rewarding. those "it's just a cat/dog/ect, get over it" people have never truly experienced a real greater-than-yourself bond like that and it's sad. it really do be a real special thing. 😌
Cats are very caring creatures. My mom's cat saved my mom's life by meowing at her until she was forced to follow him. He brought her to the source of a gas leak. He was an outdoor/indoor cat so he could have left the house if he wanted to but he wanted her to know.
My grandpa was a veteran who often went through PTSD a lot. He had a cat who refused to leave his side no matter what and to this day I believe Muffans was my Grandpas best friend. When my grandpa passed away last year the cat sat in the spot where he died until eventually Muffans died only a couple days after my grandpa. They saved each other. RIP my Grandpa and Muffans....
So sad, but glad they had each other. Cats will often become depressed and refuse to eat or drink after a loved one dies. I almost lost one that way, but luckily we pulled her through. Sorry for your loss.
Once you win a cat over the bond is magical. I hate when dog-people say "cats aren't affectionate or don't care about their owners." Just because cats dont love unconditionally like dogs, and you have to earn it from them, doesn't mean their not capable of love.
My cats love me unconditionally... they are VERY loving in fact. So much that I have to tell them no sometimes cuz I need a break. The more loving you are with them, the more loving they will be with you. If you spoil them with love, they expect more from you. I have 4 cats, all very loving. ☺️😘😻
@@SuzyQ77 What I'm saying is love and affection means more coming from a cat, than a dog. Dogs will love an owner that kicks him in the face everyday. Cats don't play that. Therefore their love is genuine, not unconditional.
@@Glorfinniel oh please it doesn’t mean more to have love from a cat than from a dog. Dogs will remember if someone was cruel to them, that’s why so many shelters dogs end up with ptsd especially if someone reminds them of their abuser(as in how some dogs won’t like men or won’t like women, because the person who mistreated them was that same sex). I love cats too, and yes I agree they show love in different ways than dogs do, it just always annoys me when I see people who prefer cats putting down dogs. What’s the point when they’re both great animals🤷♀️
@@jessica_jam4386 "Oh puh-leeze" yourself. Dog people knocking on cats are the far majority, so I'm going to speak out for my preference. Yes, I prefer cats and I even prefer horses. I had dogs and bonded with them, but bonding with cats and even my horses means much more because its earned and therefore runs deeper. If it annoys you, well it annoys me hearing dog people always bashing on cats.
stuff like that remindes me of a friends cat who, when I kept stroking him and sometimes laid my fingers on his paw, he would pull it out and stroke over the back of my hand. he started to do that randomly one day and has done it ever since after it but only for me, not for my friend nor his parents. I wouldnt say they didnt care for him (or their other cat) but considering they had him since he was born and I only knew him for 2 years made me feel like he really liked me whenever I came over :)
My cat saved my life. Not like these stories though. He has always been there to talk to. He is the reason I fight to live. I fight to live a better life because of him.
my cat [ siamese, now passed away ] saved my sons life, when he was a baby, crawling. I was cleaning out the playpen, the kitchen door had blown open, my son had crawled across a carpark, and was across a road by the gutter, where cars swing round a corner. My cat let out a loud distress cry, I went running outside, and scooped him up. Amazing little cat --- Patra.
My cat saved me the same way. Without him I definitely would not be here today. And now hes not here anymore and every day is harder and harder without him here.

Our cat, Max has been playing nurse to my Mom for the last few months. She is 83 years old and has been recovering from a long stay in the hospital due to her health. While she was bed bound, he would spend all of his time in her bed with her. When she started getting stronger, he would come and meow frantically at me when she would use her walker to get to the bathroom. Apparently, he didn't want her walking by herself. Now that she's doing so much better that she is strong enough to take care of herself, he is back to spending most of his time with my teenage son and the rest of his time with the rest of the household. I truly believe that he was watching over her because he knew she was very weak.
My 'little one' saved my life too. I was in the brink of committing suicide due to severe depression and I found her on the side of the road. She and gardening saved my life and now I rescue cats and foster them until they find loving homes.
I rescued my boy about 4 months after my mother died of cancer. I was numb, and having very dark thoughts, and I just wanted to leave the world. After a few weeks with my kitty my numb heart started to feel again and even though I could barely care for myself he gave me a reason to keep getting out of bed. I constantly say "I rescued him, but *he* saved *my* life." Now we're best friends and inseparable 6 years later. I couldn't imagine my life without him.
My mom always tells me how when I was little our family cat saved my life once from a snake and how bravely the cat kept pawing at the snake and hissing and meowing with his body between me and the snake and the loud noises had alerted my mom and she came out into the yard to see what was happening. The cat is no more today, he died a few years later but I know my mom and dad loved him dearly and I am always thankful for him. I love cats so much.

Cats learn by watching. Never force it to do tricks. That's what I learned.
True. I never teach my cat about potty training, but I just put my kitten in front of my other cat who is using the litter box. I did that for several times, and my kitten do the job right away. They only need to watch to learn

Ten years later and it still freeks me out, I had no idea he would understand me.
my people has this exact trick. if you lost your cat, ask your neighbors cats if theyve seen your cat and if they do please tell them to come home. more than often the cats will return.

The cat just handed the phone to Ron after he said that? That’s unbelievable. I’m glad he’s ok. Amazing cat..
i have a theory.

The kitten is in the perfect age to learn tricks, playful, curious and of course a cat can do that! Apparently the old man did teach him ring-a-ding before.
i think he was just talking to the cat, saying ring-a-ding, and the cat had learned that meant phone.
The cat picked up on it by himself, the man just didn't realize it until he needed the phone that the cat had learned the command
My cat has trained me well over the years I now know his favorite times to be fed and the flavors and brands of food he will eat, which toys he is willing to play with and his favorite places to sleep.
Also what temperature his water should be and how clean is acceptable, and the amount of water that should be in the bowl at all times must be at the very top so kitty doesnt have to reach very far to drink.

That’s so sweet❤️💕 🐱 I have health issues and my cats do the same thing- they are so incredibly loyal.
They come laying around parts of us that heat up
The frequency of feline purring (in all cats that purr, big and small) seems to assist the cat in healing injured bones, and may be a driving force behind their low rates of bone cancer.

What it must have felt like to call out the sound a phone makes to your kitten, only for that cat to push the only hope you have of survival off of the counter to you. To have your life actively saved by another living thing.

God bless this sweet fur baby adorable ✝️
this is 100% a case of "Reaping what you sow" this elderly man, adopted a kitten in his twilight years, and turns out that very act of kindness helped to save his life.
He also decided not to wear his life alarm during the most important time so reaping what is sowed all over.

Well the newscaster said that won't be for along long time if fluffy has his way. I feel like fluffy will have his way😸

im a firm believer in that animals speak to us, just not with words. they can learn to understand you in bits and pieces, learning cue words and routine. the feeling once we learn to understand their unique language it's an instant connection and just so rewarding.
those "it's just a cat/dog/ect, get over it" people have never truly experienced a real greater-than-yourself bond like that and it's sad. it really do be a real special thing. 😌
Cats are very caring creatures. My mom's cat saved my mom's life by meowing at her until she was forced to follow him. He brought her to the source of a gas leak. He was an outdoor/indoor cat so he could have left the house if he wanted to but he wanted her to know.
Wonderful
Not sure whether it's the same case I I've seen on a TV documentary...but yes, I've seen once.
Wow I’ve never heard of a cat passing with their person. Truly is beautiful thanks for sharing ♥️♥️
So sad, but glad they had each other. Cats will often become depressed and refuse to eat or drink after a loved one dies. I almost lost one that way, but luckily we pulled her through. Sorry for your loss.
First the video now your story I'm about to cry 😭😭😭
Tears with my coffee

Imagine thinking every story is fictional
What a precious story! Animals are so much smarter than we realize. This is incredible and so heart warming 💜

Your cat’s just getting on her good side so that when she croaks it gets all her money to buy all the catnip it ever wanted.
Cats are much more intelligent, intuitive, altruistic, and genuinely caring than most people realize!!!
@@earlofwickshire5416 please don't joke about people's family members dying. Have some tact.

My 'little one' saved my life too. I was in the brink of committing suicide due to severe depression and I found her on the side of the road. She and gardening saved my life and now I rescue cats and foster them until they find loving homes.

You are AWESOMENESS!!!
Amazing. I hope you doing well now.
Im sure they loved him extra for keeping u safe.

OMG When I was young we had a pet snake who once saved me from a wild cat. This is so weird.
