Disney Cruise Alaska 2022 Juneau Excursion! Helicopter Ride and Dogsledding on a Glacier

- In this vlog we went on our favorite excursion: a helicopter ride up to the Herbert Glacier to take a dogsled ride on the glacier! After the port adventure, we explore more of Juneau Alaska. We also have a bunch of fun back on the Wonder grabbing some drinks, doing towel folding and having a Mardi Gras dinner at Tiana's Place. This was our first Disney Cruise in Alaska and our first time on the Disney Wonder cruise ship. We can't wait to share this vlog and the whole trip with you!

Thanks for watching and for the comment! Was such an amazing day! There definitely were kids, but not as many as on the Caribbean Disney cruises we have done. Also definitely more preteen/teenagers than little ones. Maybe one of the most obvious times to see the kids was at the Frozen party for our glacier day (thumbnail with Mickey and Minnie). This looks amazing! You do such a great job of capturing this trip and are very informative. My family is booked for this cruise in June 2023 and this excursion is a highlight for sure! Comfort is king on vacation so we are trying to find the best choice of outdoor/Alaska/hiking gear. Do you have any recommendations for clothing type for hiking pants? We have notice some people just wear blue jeans while others wear fast drying hiking pants. We are concerned that the hiking pants may not provide the warmth, while jeans will take hours to dry if we get any rain? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Did you book all the excursions including this one through the cruise line? Also we got snow suits for this excursion incase we get wet or breezy/cold - is that good enough? Thank you! (We’re going end of July-August).

We booked our excursions through 3rd parties because we were worried about availability on Disney when it was time to book them. Our cruise was in mid-June. Thanks for watching and for the comment! It was a lot warmer than we thought it would be for most of the trip. In the towns it was 70s. On the glacier it was a bit cooler but a lot of the workers were in tshirts haha. Our jackets were rain coats and we had on waterproof pants (not snow pants). Our best advice for the trip is to wear layers because the weather can change with big swings in temperatures. Did the company have some sort of insurance agreement that if you got stuck on the glacier, and couldn’t get back to your ship they would deliver you to the next port? (This is one thing that really worries me about booking third party excursions!)
What kind of clothing do you recommend for sledding? Do you get wet from snow?
I’d layer because it can get warm. We didn’t get wet. We weren’t really in the snow at all and they gave us boots to wear.

Disney offered a dogsledding and helicopter excursion. I’m not sure if it is with the same company but we booked separately because we wanted to make sure we could do this while in Alaska. Off the topic question....how do you like your Helly Hansen Mickey jacket??? Is it thick or lightweight? I found one on a yard sale site that I was thinking of buying for our Alaskan Cruise. Wanted to get feedback on it. Does it run big or small?
We loved them. They are a bit light weight but we layered all trip too.
Also, they seemed to run a little small, but that may have just been because we wanted to wear a fleece under them.
