We made it to Alaska! The Norwegian Bliss traveled through the Alaskan Inside Passage and arrived in the state's capital Juneau, AK. We spent the morning whale watching before heading off the ship to our scheduled excursion. We signed up for the Glacier Helicopter Ride and Dog Sledding Adventure (Coastal Helicopters / Icefield Expeditions). We took a helicopter ride up to the Mendenhall and Herbert Glaciers where the dog camp was based. We got an introduction to dog sledding and met up with our furry team of Alaskan Huskies. Now what it's like to be dog mushers. We had a blast and finished off the excursion hanging out with the puppies before our helicopter flight back to the airport.
We had a nice dinner after returning to the ship and then headed to the Cavern Club where DT gave a karaoke concert.

Is it just me or do I feel bad for the doggos and how they are probably freezing?
Leia Pagan i believe they choose certain dogs for dog sledding for their fur coats and their paws adjust to the temperatures, these dogs probably have thicker paw pads than a dog living in warmer conditions but I could be wrong
If it was freezing it would've been dead when they got into that place
These are alaskan husky they are built to have a dense undercoat but be faster than the typical husky. The dens usually are also filled with hay for insulation if they want warmth :) im happy to share what I know about the breed or the sport!

You got lucky. We were there 3 weeks ago. Coastal helicopters told us they have had to cancel all dog sledding tours, because it was too hot. They were on glacier even in t-shirts.

Those dogs have a extra protective coat so they are fine in snow. The Thing you should be worried about is that they all are chained up in small areas and are crowded until they are used for the sledding.
