imagine getting totally drunk late at night and writing a song you think is brilliant. Then waking up the next day to realize it actually brilliant. Bob is 1 in 10 million.
I'd say that Bob is one in a few billion. I can't think of anyone like him on the planet.
Even pissed beyond belief still somehow manages to remember those lyrics..
a
And deliver it with excellent timing. phrasing and feeling. Massive talent.
I think about that often.... blows my mind
This was 15 yrs ago. I say a prayer for Bob's Liver...I hope Fram has developed the new replacement filter.
Saw them on June 30th at Summerfest and his voice is as good as ever.
For as drunk as he gets, his tone is amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You better hope so. Personally, l believe Bob's liver will go on to write songs like these, long after he's passed.
Brilliant versions. Red Men is such a heartwrenchingly sad and true tune...
The most powerful voice in indie rock?
Robert Pollard is the greatest musical poet off all time as far as I'm concerned. Better than Dylan, Lennon, Cobain, fucking anyone. And I mean it. Plus he keeps the dream alive. He never really started taking music seriously until he was 36. He's the purest form of true music you will ever hear. I'm glad I found him.
Agreed. I think he's better than all of them.
this is true
Yeah, he's a legit genius, alright.
Say it like it is, man....
He always took music seriously. Just nobody else took HIM seriously.
I was at this show (or maybe it was the next night, GBV did back to back shows here). Still ranks as an all-time favorite and seeing it here brings a big ass smile to my face. Robert Pollard, you sweet bastard, I love ya.
See that audience member in front. He sits there frozen in shock like he's completely immersed in the music.
Damn, those dudes rock the fuck out
The 'my band is an army' period. So good.
I saw them at the 40 Watt in Athens on the "last" tour, and Nate was literally falling down drunk. They kept picking him up and he couldn't stand, so they finally finished the show without him.
yeah...i don't really find the fucked-up-drunk part of their live show to be endearing. it's kind of alarming
They're so good...
Brilliant video, thanks for uploading this! I was hoping there would be a good quality live version of Redmen somewhere, and here it is.
Beautiful song, thanks for posting this
Bob Pollard. Beyond your words for him. (or mine)
Damn! I'll have what he's having. 6:28
Bob is the only human being that has actually "made it" lol 😂
It ain't bad, Bobby.
"not even REM" ... totally
They lost it when Bill Berry left
Why are there only 29 comments here?
GBV...
Yah, I can't write for shit, but I will try to never you behind in my mose or prime!
He is really pure and I think he is as good as Dylan or Lennon; not better, but as good. I really don't get this generation of music; I mean pop music is entertaining but there's really no focus on singer/song writer or decent bands.
