The quality of this recording is unbelievable
Greatest live recording of a GBV show I have ever heard. This had to be through the board? Oh and the greatest live band I have ever heard in 42 years of listening to music. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard them sound better than this.
not thru the board
I agree.It's incredible!
Moreover, "Titus Strident Wet Nurse" may be the only GBV song ( among thousands) that sounds even somewhat reminiscent of AC/DC !! :)
Yup sound man was on his A game that night
Shepherd's Chapel Network !!!!!!! Chapter by Chapter / Verse by Verse !!!!!!!
Never let this be taken down please
his voice here sounds exactly like on the classic gbv records! so nice to here a live set with such audible vocals
perfect pitch
57:35 Sing it Out, only avail in acoustic on Suitcase 1. AWESOME SONG LIVE!!! GBVDB says they haven’t played it once since this tour. Cmon!
Absolutely killer set list.
Titus And Strident Wet Nurse came out around 2000-2001 on a indy band compilation called i think sir jefferey pumpernickle. The gbv song was the easily the best thing on it. This boot sounds great!
Silkyv13
Is it true they only played it live in 2001? Such a great song. That would be a shame.
We have lived our lives Guided By Voices, yet very few ever listen! Great recording!
This band always leaves a mark.
The boys were especially razor sharp in 2001. What a great GBV year among many great ones.
Incredibly, they’re still killing it, but this was the height of their considerable powers. I understand the appeal
of the classic line-up, and the songs generated earlier on, but there is merit in having dudes with real chops who (obviously) can play everything The line-ups aren’t interchangeable. Unbelievable music was made in the later nineties and beyond, and a lot of it is simply beyond the grasp of the earlier incarnation(s)
Who doesn't like/love this??
Amazing set/sound/vocals-everything right on!
thank you thank you thank you thank you
Funny story - I was there that night & got told to “calm down” by Tim Tobias cos I had unknowingly started a one man mosh pit during Pop Zeus. I tried to reassure him I wasn’t crazy, but shit, GBV got me all worked up!!
🤘🤪🤘
Ha,ha, crazy, that guy was always stone-cold drunk everytime i saw them!Amazing bassist.
Right! To perform that well and be that drunk is a skill. There’s probably a line there - you know when you cross it. As a drummer, 3 craft beers is about my limit 😅
@@Ghoopty Same here. But i think Nate crossed that line with regularity...
@@alaskatoburningmen4549 😅
Holy sht this is awesome. Thank you!
I was happy they came to asheville.
"Five Years" is probably my favorite Bowie song and GBV is my favorite band, so hearing that cover was pure ambrosia. :D
Sound quality is insanely good! Thank You!
hey kids its a classic. best sound/best gbv band. saw em in LA. back to saturn x ? a gem is found.
Best GBV concert on UA-cam. A couple times a year I listen to the entire show, get drunk and clean my house. Where can I download it?
My old roommate mixed this.
This is incredible. Thanks

sound amazing! thanks!!
so so good . thanks
Saw them twice that year in San Diego while stationed in the navy. One was a New years eve show. Was pretty wasted. Wish I remembered it better
Oh myyyyy
I was at this show. Good tiiiiiiiiimes ...
I remember GBV and spoon in austin at liberty lunch. Bob gave away cans of bud to the audience during encores
This is a great recording!
Bob's voice is strong here.
Going to see them tonight Orlando, Fl @ The Social ..
Sober Bob. So good!
This one! I always come back to this one. The next reunited GbV touring act will be this one I hope. Current unit with Bare, March, Mitchell, and Shue are outstanding though. Grog Shop tonight bitches!
Amazing quality of recording. Takes me back to the late 90's when I saw Spoon open up for GBV in Austin.
Thanks for posting this. I've seen them several times and it's always killer. You guys got a great show. If you can track down the vinyl "For All Good Kids", do it. Expensive, but and incredibly good record. This would make a nice one, too, but good luck editing it down to 25 minutes per side!
I was there at the Zone that night and I guess it was the greatest audio of a live GBV show ever. Damn the band sounds fantastic.
All hail GBV!
Amazing bootleg!
where can you get this bootleg?!! ;-) I so badly want to rock this in the car speakers blaring!
HOLY SHIT ROCKY HORROR STYLE ADLIB IN GOLDHEART ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE
Holy shit. Thank you. It always reminded me of riff raff but I thought it was just me.
GBV! GBV! GBV!
Whats up with this format and why hasn't anyone split time stamps by songs. this shit fucking rocks clearer than their official releases its disgusting.
Fucking unbelievable
GBV!!!
Fuck this is great!
Did anyone manage to download this AMAZING set? I will happily buy a copy!!!!!!
you can just rip it bro
GBV and shrooms rules! I can t listen any other thing.
Would love to find a download for this so I can blare it in my car
Someone pls put the times up
great show! great mix
it's hard for me to believe, that this show was captured months before the 911 tragedy.
I was thinking about that, too. There's a huge intangible difference before and after. However, once they played Saturn X I forgot about it for awhile.
anywhere to download this gem ?
58:56 PRICKS
Your best and possibly only option is to get a free Video to MP3 Converter from the C Net site and download this in the best audio option (480p) and copy to CD or mp3 player.
1:56:38 the promoter was right, that crowd was weak, they didn't earn the final encore
pop zeus tho
One of my fav live Bob comedy bits I was just thinking about earlier today, "Now its in the hands of the Insane Clown Posse..."
Indeed. It just made me laugh!
God Damn, those drums! Would this be Jim McPherson?
This is Jon McCann actually - he played throughout 2001 and left in early to 2002 to make way for Kevin March.
They need to make a live album at Third Man Records. They are making incredible albums over there.
wow im an idiot....what is this first song? how have i not heard it before im such a bad GBV mega fan! SADFACES :( :( :( :(
Titus And Strident Wet Nurse, in case you haven't figured it out in the last six years, LOL
