Dunno why there are some many Kevin haters, sure he isn't the greatest drummer ever but I reckon he fits in well here, and he is giving all he has, that's fine in my book.
the music keeps you young...these guys still sound as on par (if not better) than they did on alien lanes. really amazing, live and on record. truly legends of lo-fi.
NICE! Good to see the 'classic' lineup kicking it out again. I saw them about 7 times in the early 2000's with Gillard and Farley on guitars... they were always incredible. Some of the best beer-soaked rock shows I've ever seen :))
Yea, it was the same for me. Then one night in high school I listened to the album Bee Thousand in it's entirety...four times. Since then they've been my favorite band.
So amazing that this was filmed for broadcast! Wish there were other GbV shows of similar multi camera quality... thanks for uploading all the broadcast; this trio is my favorite from this gig.

Game of Pricks is one of Robert's best songs and one of the greatest poems in rock history. So crazy good and it takes nothing away from Myron. Such a beautiful time in music and I'm so lucky to have seen them multiple times during this era. I'll always say that Tobin's work was under valued. He added a completely different sensibility.
@ultramouse He's the John Entwistle of this band. Can't get the damn cameras on him because Mitch is windmilling and Bob's hoppin' around and Greg looks so damn silly in those pants!
Greg looks like he decided to go with his rock and roll fantasy and commit to that outfit. It’s ridiculous and great at the same time. He even looks like he had his hair styled and not just cut. That’s not a Northridge barber cut. Demos is the shit though. Split pants and all
Right when the drums came in they all dragged like crazy. It's impossible to stay on tempo (especially when you play live) but that was disgustingly noticeable,
I kind of love hearing Bob gradually drop his English singing accent when he talks. It's like I'marockstarI'marockstarI'marockstarnononoI'mjustaguyfromOhio.
Right F'n in back of you TruthSmack! I did a GBV show in SF (2/26/06) after a move job in steel toed boots and did a bottle of gin on top of a couple of beers and got right up on top of the amp to stage left and just kept wailing "Bee Thousand" and somehow it even ended up on another page...But WTF! Maturity is Boring, as I say...of course my "minister" of a brother (very stern) didn't look too happy on me but ...
After seeing them on their current tour... man, Kevin March is like twice the drummer as Fennell. I'm really glad they got him back. Sometimes the drumming in this video is pretty bad.
Bob Pollard is the alchoholic uncle I always wanted
um..know you haven't. good entertainment makes not, for good relatives. it's been proven..
jus'sayin, so sorry
I realize I am kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Crew River thank you, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) Appreciate it!
@Gerald Elisha no problem xD
@@ultrakool Why is that?
I showed up late to the GBV party but I want to thank all you guys and gals for holding a spot at the table for me. :)
Seconded.
no such thing as too late to this party
the club is always open :)
Report to the front of the stage for your complimentary cup of beer :)
There’s always room on the bottom. HOTTT FFFRRRREEEAAAAAKKKKKSSS!!!!
The most criminally underrated rock band of all time
these three songs encompass incredibly good song writing.
Oh yeah, last one sounds like a song the Who have wanted to write but haven't been able for years...
Damn, these are some of the best versions of these songs ever. Who knew a sober GBV could rock?
2:10 "Erthersongbeethousagodetheregoestheregoesmyron"
hahaha... awesome.
literally happened right as i started reading this
Tezza Tazza I can't stop laughing
Fucking lol
haha ! In Australia (where I live) There was a band called schooneranewthanksyvonneta. Schooner is a beer, "New" is a brand of beer.
Dunno why there are some many Kevin haters, sure he isn't the greatest drummer ever but I reckon he fits in well here, and he is giving all he has, that's fine in my book.
What wouldn't I give for these guys to come to the UK..
Fucking hell, what a set!
I think Bob pulled a hamstring with that little dance and kick he did. lol
Seriously though... one of the best bands ever in any genre or era.
How fun it must be to be a member of Guided by Voices...
"Motor Away" was my first of innumerable GbV faves!
the music keeps you young...these guys still sound as on par (if not better) than they did on alien lanes. really amazing, live and on record. truly legends of lo-fi.
GBV = True energy and Rock passion
Time travelling Morrissey at 6:09 digging the shit out of Motor away. Really hits it home for him.
time travelling thurston moore singing at 2:50
Oh God I was waiting for it after reading your comment... And that dude delivered!!
@@TheCoronado3 Looks more like Beck.
Looks more like Jim Carrey
People in Norway wonder how a guy from Dayton OH has a British accent and looks like Bill Clinton.
...this is Guided by Voices in it's truest form.
I've never asked for the truth but you owe that to me!
Bar none, one of the BEST bands you will ever see live. And Goddamn, it’s the band that will make you buy an extra beer. Cheers.

6:16 "MITCH!"
Look at the pain on the drummer and guitarist to deliver sheer and unbridaled perfection to us xx
This is the greatest song in the world, bar none.
Echoes Myron.
To each their own... I bless the day my pal Queenie (yeah, that's short for "Queen of Cans and Jars") sent me that GBV mixtape.
this is my fav song. makes me feel so grey.
Best voice
3 killer tunes in the amount of time it take U2 to bang out one bloated hit
Epic performance of Motor Away
Yea, it was the same for me. Then one night in high school I listened to the album Bee Thousand in it's entirety...four times. Since then they've been my favorite band.
man the norwegians really know their shit
Rock & Roll perfection.
What a band!
Bob is Bob is Bob - there is no other.
x
Damn they sound good! These guys are just amazing, the last time I saw them was at the Austin City Limits show.
Did Nate Farley borrow your baby?
evening car trip+ earphone+ GBV =❤
Mitici!! Visti ad Adelaide nel 2000. Paura. Unici!!
Why can't they show Tobin?
That's the same album that started me on the path of GBV fandom. I saw them in Columbus during the reunion tour and it was the best show of my life!
Majestic!!! Seeing them in 2 weeks at Ottawa Bluesfest!!!!!!!!!!!
Best version of Game of Pricks. It's so fast and tight.
come to the UK! please!
Jeg elsker GBV!!!!
So amazing that this was filmed for broadcast! Wish there were other GbV shows of similar multi camera quality... thanks for uploading all the broadcast; this trio is my favorite from this gig.
man their tight as ever!! awesome show....thanks for the upload
Lol at guy just hanging out on stage drinking a beer.
Awesome. GBV, GBV, GBV...
Damn good...
used to work the door for these guys in the early 90s when they'd play Cbus. Never liked them then....now I can't get enough LOL. Stupid me.
My goodness, this is damn good shit! *monocle flies off*
God, what a voice.
Bob in his fifties looking better than ever!
classic line-up!

gotta love a band that can play the same song 3 times in a row and it only takes 7 minutes

Such a beautiful time in music and I'm so lucky to have seen them multiple times during this era. I'll always say that Tobin's work was under valued. He added a completely different sensibility.

Tobin Sprout!

Okay ringo...
goddamn yes.
I think he's the sexiest voice in rock. period.
The bass player's wife was my niece's 1st grade teacher 😁🥰
F yes!
Maravilloso... 🔥🔥🤡
The coolist bass player ever!

Greg Demos quit the band to practice law, I imagine him just like Jimmy McGill off Better Call Saul
@thediscerningviewer whole concert is on the FB page of Robert Pollard..it's fucking shit hot
"Ive cheated so long, I wonder how you keep track of me"
This is the most baddass GOP I have ever heard! And then Echoes! And Motor Away!! Seriously....
6:10 glad to see that jim carrey is a gbv fan
I see where Motion City Soundtrack got a lot of their sound
european tour
european beer !!
Only listen to early U2 then, 1980-81, maybe to 83, but that's it.
I also like the crashed UFO at 3:09
Cameraman must've had a grudge against Mr. Sprout...

This is the one band I haven't seen that I must see. If Paul McCartney was from this era, he'd be in the band. It might have even been better. Or not.

Yes bro. Hi from Turkey
DIO!!! 😡😡😡
Pollard surrounded by mortals and it shows
@m1chbeck yeah would seem to be, although he gets a strangely measly amount of camera time!
Anyone else notice the drum situation a the beginning of Echos Myron?
The slider gunn ah you notice too ? Been watching this concert since 2012 on You Tube. He fucks it up..and you see Mitch turn slowly and look
That is a nice catch there - and didn't notice it until now.....it happens.
🤟
@monkeygonetoheavensi hey, where's that at? i'm on bob's FB page and not seeing any footage
look at all those geezers

After seeing them on their current tour... man, Kevin March is like twice the drummer as Fennell. I'm really glad they got him back. Sometimes the drumming in this video is pretty bad.
I have seen them twice, once in late 2001 and about a month ago. March was the drummer both times and ya he is good.
i heard you like the rock.
Sweet. How old are they? 100? Still kickin' ass...
GBV rules!!!
Fuck they look like the pub band that just won't quit who actually made it and made sweet music to boot
:')
I know it. GbV.
Who are his band? Lineup?
Anyone else notice the 1,2,3,4 count in in German at 5:10?
