Finally! Someone who does it CORRECTLY! Every other video I found on youtube, they separate the sausage from the grease, make the gravy, and then add the sausage back in at the end, which is silly when you can just add the flour to the meat and start adding milk.
"Gonna get it browned up..... reeeeeal nice. Need that caramel-eye-zation on yer meat. Mmmkay." You know this is some good ass country food when you hear that!!
I made it your way minus the worcestershire, and OMG. Everyone always says to remove the sausage when you add the flour, but this version is REALLY close to the little country diners I would eat at as a kid with my grandparents. Awesome!!!
Anyone who has a jar of bacon grease saved is A-OK in my book! This is pretty much the way I make it, have to try the worcestershire next time. You;re right, it needs plenty of pepper and it tastes great! Excellent gravy, made my mouth water from the beginning. Thanks for sharing!
I ate SOS every chance I had in the mess hall. Whether they made it with sausage, hamburger or chipped beef, that is some dang good food. I could eat a bucketful of it. Put it on anything...toast, biscuits, pasta, rice, home fries or an old shoe and I'd be happy.
Found your channel last night and already have a few dishes lined up for my niece and I to make ❤ You're my kind of people. I'm sure I'd feel comfortable and welcomed at the dinner table. I'm loving all the videos 💘
Wow amé tu receta es simplemente D E L I C I O S A!!👍👍 De echo la preparo aquí en Hawaii y les fascina a los comensales!.. muchas gracias por compartir tu receta te damos un 10✅ felicidades!👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Wow I loved your recipe it's simply DELICIOUS!!👍👍 In fact I prepare it here in Hawaii and diners love it! Thank you very much for sharing your recipe we give you a 10✅ congratulations!👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ ❤️❤️❤️
The bacon grease is the key. My mom used bacon grease to fry everything in especially vegetables. We also didn't have the money to buy biscuits all the time either. She usually poured her gravy over white bread just like you do. We all love what our mamas fed us when we were kids. Thanks for making this video.
I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't learn to cook gravy until a couple of years ago! I'm 63 now! I grew up watching Mama make it, but by the time I wanted to try it, she was in heaven. Now that I know, I could kick myself for not making gravy sooner! For the first time in my life, I'm having to cook for myself every day. So, I'm learning so much for the first time!
Great recipe Sir! This is the closest (tasting & appearance) to how my mother would make the gravy each Sunday morning to accompany fresh biscuits and scrambled eggs😊
To compensate the thinness of 2% milk, I usually add a 1/4-1/2 of cornstarch to help it thicken. Depending on the size of the batch and desired thickness. I try to have whole milk on hand though, sometimes just an 1/8 of a cup or 1/4 of even buttermilk. And this is breaking tradition and some of my fellow southern folks may turn up a nose at me for saying this but if you want some slightly more salty zing along with the sausage, right before serving add in 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of parmigiana reggiano to the gravy and stir for maybe 2 to 3 minutes while on the stove eye just before serving.
Jj Stevens The is no longer I the only one in this case we need I will be at my house etc to be there at work but will get it in the mail tomorrow the mail and the is a will call when we get back we will be there around in my house is not a good fit the is no longer in the is a is a is no longer a member is a will call you in a few minutes if you have any more questions is it ok if I send a pic of your new address and I'll
Damn I have been inspired! I love that stuff. My son and daughter sat and watched this last night. they say, Dad you have to make some in the morning. Great recipe. I never have tryed it with just plain bread. But may have to .lol keep up the good work brother.
Thank you for starting out with the first dang thing that makes this work. Others start out here are my seasonings dude it's biscutes and gravy. Sausage, sausage grease flour milk pepper and buscutes. These dam people want to jazz it up farm food not city food basic simple great overall thank you
Gotta question? When you've got bacon grease left over how long can you keep it? I love it but being here in the UK they look at me like I'm stupid for even suggesting keeping bacon grease. Lol I'd just like to know ideally how long can you keep it. Oh and if I could freeze it to keep it till I use it again? Thank you and god bless you and your family.
brandie itll keep in a tin can on the back of the stove or fridge far longer than it takes to use it. drop a spoon of it in your squash, green beans, baked beans, fry eggs in it, even put it on top of toast. and if your husband beats on you. you can put it on him and throw him out to the dogs/wolfs too.
For me personally I always used it the day after . it's so nice to use it for cooking eggs. Breakfast sausage links. And even use it on the pan before cooking the bacon cuz then u put the bacon on and it cooks a lot faster since there is already grease
Watch this every time I make it. Have some amazing Saturday morning breakfasts with the kids. Kids love it when Dad makes sausage gravy! Thank you, my man! P.S. when bread is added it is now officially “Sh@$ on shingle” that’s what the ARMY calls it. 😂
I like to put just a little of the gravy on the plate before I put on the bread (toast in my house). A little garlic powder wouldn't hurt either. (My opinion!)
I'm with you, Jim. I'd try somebody else's if they made it with Winchester sauce, but I wouldn't want to risk messing up my own gravy. Was a bit surprised he didn't use evaporated milk, too; that being sort of his trademark.
Was like, "on bread tho!?.. Nooooo!" 😩😢 i thought the same thing, at least toast it... Then it'd be more like s.o.s... a.k.a. chipped beef on toast lol!
Bro you made the perfect batch of gravy (minus the worschester sauce) and only used bread!?!… Lol, hey whatever floats your boat, ya like whatcha like…everyone’s different…I prefer a nice fluffy homemade biscuit crumbled up, then I pour that yummy sausage gravy (just like the stuff you made) all over it
That was the largest tablespoon (during the Worcestershire sauce) I have ever seen lol
Thanks for the recipe! I'm making this tonight for dinner :)
Lol
Nofuckendoubt lmao
Also the lard haha
@Majestic - He was going to say ladle and got sidetracked.

I made it your way minus the worcestershire, and OMG. Everyone always says to remove the sausage when you add the flour, but this version is REALLY close to the little country diners I would eat at as a kid with my grandparents. Awesome!!!
Wow that easy and looks good. I'm going to do that this weekend

I like to add some diced onion and red or orange peppers to mine. Gotta try it with the Worcestershire sauce tho.
Just threw a portion of this together, good stuff.
Thanks!
Looks good if it gets thick after it cools down, can I add more liquid?
Thanks..yes you can
I keep bacon grease like that to! How long will it stay good in the refrigerator?
Put it in the freezer will last for ever. Course bacon grease dont last no time at my house

Lol white bread. That’s kinda funny but hey,,, everyone has their preferences!! I won’t knock it til I try it!! Haha
It's good lots of people use white bread very normal
Ty. I like how you did not add flour. Thought you had to. Never made it but this is making me want to try. 😊
He said he added a quarter cup of flour .......
You see him in the video clear as day add flour
Watch this every time I make it. Have some amazing Saturday morning breakfasts with the kids. Kids love it when Dad makes sausage gravy!
Thank you, my man!
P.S. when bread is added it is now officially “Sh@$ on shingle” that’s what the ARMY calls it. 😂
When he added that spoonful of bacon grease, I felt my blood pressure RISING!
AyeshéIsAlwaysLovely if u can feel your blood pressure that is not good.
That’s looks good, but I toast my bread
Damn, I didn't know a tablespoon and a1/4 cup was the same amount !
I've been trying to learn how to make that for the longest that good old white country country
Thank You :}
I like to put just a little of the gravy on the plate before I put on the bread (toast in my house). A little garlic powder wouldn't hurt either. (My opinion!)
Sounds Good
nice video
Until I saw him I thought it was Richard from the Stern show
Do you ever make homemade Biscuits to go with your Sausage gravy?
Hell Yea, bro! Over white bread is my favorite way!
jeff
Thanks :}Cheers
That's truly country sausage gravy but for myself, I'd lose the W sauce.
I'm with you, Jim. I'd try somebody else's if they made it with Winchester sauce, but I wouldn't want to risk messing up my own gravy.
Was a bit surprised he didn't use evaporated milk, too; that being sort of his trademark.
Thanks :}
That was no table spoon but I like your style
To me, it taste better when the bread is toasted.
Thanks Man
I thought my ex was crazy for eating gravy on plain white bread lol now I know it's apparently a thing and other people do it🤣
I grew up eating gravy on white bread!
Its a southern thing, I guess❤
Sage is the key. Sage sausage saves a step. I don't know about the Worcestershire sauce.
Yummy! :)
Should toast your bread before, so good!
If you like you can..I like in soft and white
Biscuits! Please!
Make some biscuits.
10 stars!
At least toast your bread so it doesn't get soggy.
Was like, "on bread tho!?.. Nooooo!" 😩😢 i thought the same thing, at least toast it... Then it'd be more like s.o.s... a.k.a. chipped beef on toast lol!
