  • So easy to make, you will never eat the canned or powdered gravy again! This video is all about the gravy, not the biscuits.
1 pound breakfast sausage, hot, sage or regular
    3 cups milk
    pinch of poultry seasoning (optional)
    3 tbls of regular flour
    2 tbls butter
salt and pepper to taste (needs quite a bit of salt)
How to make sausage gravy! Its easy and really good! If you have some leftover gravy just put it in a pan and warm up with some more milk in it to get it thinned out again and its just as good as the first time.

Great tips and all but I have a suggestion on the biscuits: Ignore the instructions about using a baking sheet and spreading out the biscuits. Instead, using a well seasoned iron skillet, place your biscuits snuggled together with sides touching, bake as usual and your biscuits will rise higher and softer. My granny taught me this trick and I'm sharing it with you and all your viewers. Enjoy!

It's the sage in the poultry seasoning. You can also buy ground pork tubes that have sage already in the sausage. I like the sage / poultry seasoning. added flavor with out salt. there is enough salt in the sausage.

I ended up running back in other room twice to make sure it was off, then I realized it was yours!! Now every time I will make this gravy ill remember the radio bit!

From experience the best way to prevent lumps is using a spatula (preferably one with slits) after adding the milk, and just put it in making full contact with the bottom and with your wrist move it side to side in the pan for 10-15 seconds with your wrist like you where beating eggs or making pancake mix. The lumps always fall to the bottom once it has been mixed enough so moving the spatula side to side flattens them, making them smaller and smaller until none are left. It makes a pretty decent make shift mixer as well do it fast enough and you will see what I mean but yeah it's always been very effective for my even if it went super lumpy after adding the milk.
Works just as well for the instant stuff from the store which has you pouring it directly into water.

They prefer someone to 'share' the kitchen duties. They want someone who 'understands' they've cooked all their lives and want a break. And the excuses drag on infinitum.

It might sound gross, but I'm going to give it a try. :-) I mix my sausage, or charizo this way for burritos, and eggs with bisquits, and gravy this way might be good too. *shrugs shoulders*, who knows! :-)

I’ve don’t it both way as my wife like sausage gravy. But do it a bit differently.

There is a huge difference by cooking the rue without the sausage. When you make a rue you need to cook it for a much longer time than you did. The flour has a chalky taste, by cooking it longer the chalky taste goes away. You can tell when it's done ( about 5-10 min ) because it will have a light off white color and have a slight nutty smell. And yes you will taste a difference.
