- So easy to make, you will never eat the canned or powdered gravy again! This video is all about the gravy, not the biscuits.
1 pound breakfast sausage, hot, sage or regular
3 cups milk
pinch of poultry seasoning (optional)
3 tbls of regular flour
2 tbls butter
salt and pepper to taste (needs quite a bit of salt)
How to make sausage gravy! Its easy and really good! If you have some leftover gravy just put it in a pan and warm up with some more milk in it to get it thinned out again and its just as good as the first time.

This really is the easiest and the best. I wasted way too much time thinking making good sausage gravy was a super difficult process. Thanks for this life changing gift lol
I agree, it seems like is a hard recipe, it really isnt, thanks for the great comment!
Great tips and all but I have a suggestion on the biscuits: Ignore the instructions about using a baking sheet and spreading out the biscuits. Instead, using a well seasoned iron skillet, place your biscuits snuggled together with sides touching, bake as usual and your biscuits will rise higher and softer. My granny taught me this trick and I'm sharing it with you and all your viewers. Enjoy!
I will try that next time, thanks ;)
Lady Blackhorse
Very VERY good tip!
Thank you
But I like the crispy part of the biscuit too!!!
Might be 11 months late, but this also works with cinnamon rolls :)
I will try this delicious teknik. I will surprise my nephews. Thank you! 😳😳
Bro you just saved my relationship.
LOL Thats awesome!

I dont think its a must to use the poultry seasoning, its just how the recipe was
😂😂
It's the sage in the poultry seasoning. You can also buy ground pork tubes that have sage already in the sausage. I like the sage / poultry seasoning. added flavor with out salt. there is enough salt in the sausage.
It looks good and very EASY!! (I turned my radio off so I could watch this, cause I LOVE this gravy and wanted to hear it all... but still heard it on. I ended up running back in other room twice to make sure it was off, then I realized it was yours!! Now every time I will make this gravy ill remember the radio bit!
Thanks for BOTH!! I'm trying it tomorrow nite!! My mouth is watering ALREADY!! 😀
(I'm making it with "the 2 ingredient biscuits" I just found on U-tube...I'm in heaven!! Favorite gravy and easy bisquits!)
I've been looking for a great biscuit and gravy recipe, and i think i finally found one that i like! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome thanks for the comment
Thank you for the receipe the last time i tryed to do it came out to watery and the way you did it came out perfect my kids loved it
Always enjoy watching cooking video's by men. Trying this tonight!
How do you know this person identifies as a 'man'? Its this kind of prejudice that keeps society in the dark ages.
+hwoods01 huh yea uhg
Thank you! This was my first time making sausage gravy, huge hit with my family at breakfast this morning.
That looks delicious!!!
Thanks
Oh my god, I love biscuits and gravy!

Looks good man good job and video! Simple and easy!
joshmaster618 Thanks Josh I hope you give it a try, thanks for commenting!
Wonderful! Fool Proof Recipe. Doesn't get any simpler. Many seem to use sage too. I might try adding some one day. Thanks,
I'm not a fan of sage, they also make a sage flavored jimmy dean breakfast sausage, thanks
Food Porn Network
Wow, he didn't just sang, he made sausage too!
Jimmy Dean should be the guy on the $5 bill !
From experience the best way to prevent lumps is using a spatula (preferably one with slits) after adding the milk, and just put it in making full contact with the bottom and with your wrist move it side to side in the pan for 10-15 seconds with your wrist like you where beating eggs or making pancake mix. The lumps always fall to the bottom once it has been mixed enough so moving the spatula side to side flattens them, making them smaller and smaller until none are left. It makes a pretty decent make shift mixer as well do it fast enough and you will see what I mean but yeah it's always been very effective for my even if it went super lumpy after adding the milk.
Works just as well for the instant stuff from the store which has you pouring it directly into water.
i never had lumps in mine, but thanks
@@Carnivorefitness2024 Sorry, it wasn't directed towards anyone just in general advice.
@@GainingDespair No offense taken, thanks for the info! 👍😊
Perfect for a hangover lots of absorption
If I wanted to make a larger portion of gravy can I do 4.5 tbls of flour and 4 cups of milk?
With eggs, bacon and a big glass of oj you got yourself a breakfast of champions!!!
Yes! 😋
my girl is on vacation and she always tells me i should ask my mom to make gravy because my moms gravy is the best she's ever had... so hopefully this is going to help me make it myself... gonna have a lot of trial and error while i wait for her to get home
Jeremy Conrad it's not hard, you'll be fine
IM BEGING MY DAD TO MAKS SOME OF THOSE HOTT THINGS!!! I KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BISCUITS AND GRAVY AHHHH YUM YUM

Lol yes
Add more milk, fixes it right back up
"If you don't have it, you don't need it."
That's how you know this man is a winner.
Lol 😂
My Grandma Made this every weekend and she called it shit on a shingle witch is funny because my father was a roofing contractor.
Lol usually sos is on toast instead of biscuits and sometimes its chipped beef or hamburger meat.
+Carl Smith shit on shingles is chipped beef gravy over toast. not sausage gravy.
+MysticxRaven Never have chipped beef, maybe ground beef, but when Grandma cooked it didn't matter if it was cow or pig she called it shit on a shingle and if there's one thing I learned from Grandpa is she's always right or you'll doing the cooking.
MysticxRaven ..... you are correct !!!! That's how I remember my Mother making it.

I'm almost 62 years old, live in Oregon, and was raised by my mom from South Carolina, and I know a good sausage gravy over bisquits when I see it. Excellent. And never mind the comments about using canned bisquits with homemade gravy. It's all good. Thumbs up and subbed.
Al Machado Thanks so much! You know it, thanks for subscribing too
RIGHT ON I AGREE
Even good on Toast or Toasted English Muffins if thats all you have on hand etc
@@COYOTE165A Try it on rice 🤤
Just an FYI!

I knew I shouldn't have watched this video, now I'm hungry. Good video, thanks.
Easy and absolutely delicious just like the video says. I couldn’t believe how great this gravy came out. Perfect traditional country gravy taste and consistency. First time making country gravy and it came out perfect. Wife and kids were asking for seconds. I’m never going to a restaurant for biscuits and gravy ever again. Thanks so much for the video, you made it easy.
Comments like yours are awesome! Glad you all liked it and thanks for letting me know! :)
Food Porn Network Absolutely! Thanks for sharing your time and awesome recipe!
Food Porn Network I'm licking my chops now. One of my favorite breakfasts.
Can I use margarine?
@@Carnivorefitness2024 I'm going to try this recipe, it looks easy and delicious.. I've been cooking for 45yrs and this is easiest gravy I seen ot used. Love your videos
Use half a pound of regular sausage and half a pound of maple sausage.
You're welcome.
Use a half pound of regular sausage and half pound of zesty sausage. You are very welcome....and good day to you!
I've used this recipe so many times, its a household favorite!
It's good stuff, thanks

I’m so terrified of gravy. 🙈😂😂 but I’m going to try this this morning for my five boys and husband to be. Today is our wedding day! Thanks for sharing! This seems so simple! Fingers crossed!
Lol you won't be afraid after making this I promise 😉 you will be whooping some gravy ass! Congratulations and have a great wedding and honeymoon 😉
They say it's bad luck for the bride and groom to see each other before the ceremony but, I think a good biscuits and gravy breakfast offsets that. Congratulations and best wishes.

I'm a little late, but congrats on the nuptials.
It would be good to have a man that can cook!
Hi Beverly Johnson I am a man and I cook
I am also a man and I cook. LMAO
We can but we act like we cant!
I taught my wife (R.I.P.) and two daughters how to cook. At 16 my own mother stepped out of the kitchen on the weekends and let me cook for the family.
Her favorite was my cordon bleu. I always made her strawberries flambe after that meal.
A widower @ 50 years old I still enjoy new recipes and techniques.
It's only me and my service dog.
Still cookin & bookin.

That looks so easy to do.. I thought it was gonna be impossible!
Really easy, you need to do it! Lol

Good man!
Thank you for this video. If it ever gets taken down i'm gonna be pissed and I will find you. haha. And ask for the recipe. haha.
Lmfao best fucking comment ever haahh you made my week man! Thanks 😂

In Basic Traning never had it before that the guys called it SOS After trying it for the first time I was hooked on it etc
I just have to say, this video and recipe is SO GOOD that I had to come back and leave a comment. I did 4 tablespoons of flour instead of 3.5 since you alluded to using a little more in the past for thicker gravy, and it was absolutely perfect. First time I've ever made this in my life and I don't think I'll ever make it differently. Seriously, thank you. My taste buds are in Heaven!
That's awesome lol thanks for the great comment! Means a lot!
“We ain’t scared of no lumps” 😂
Fantastic recipe! Love the simplicity of it. Thank you!
+Jillian Jool Thanks sweetie!
Good gravy can also be made after chicken and pork chops are fried.
Sure can!
How do you you make chicken or pork chop gravy after the meat is fried?
How do you make the chicken or pork chop gravy after the meat is fried?
This is one... if not my favorite food, sausage gravy and biscuits.Yum! I do however, usually make a home from scratch buttermilk biscuit, not canned. I have to confess, I have used those frozen home style buttermilk biscuits, a well known name brand..is worth the extra cost. It looks as though, yours was very tasty..i love a southern man, with cookin on his mind! Now, I know what's for breakfast in the AM.
That's the problem with todays women...and the reason so many of us guys are still single. Most of them are too lazy to get their azz in the kitchen and cook! They prefer someone to 'share' the kitchen duties. They want someone who 'understands' they've cooked all their lives and want a break. And the excuses drag on infinitum.
Try this with half and half or heavy cream also damn good! xD
oh damn i bet that is good, thanks
My grandmother always used heavy cream. Makes a damn fine gravy.
Sean Metz I bet that is good oh yeah
Sean Metz almond and heavy whipping cream is amazing
Ender Skies you are seriously missing out.. its awesome with half and half
Good ole country gravy....
I'm over due, its time to make this again soon!
Looks Awesome man..I will have to try the poultry seasoning in it..I usually put a tbls of worcestershire in mine..Cheeers
OMG i just made this, and if i can make this with little cooking background experience anyone can!!
made it for me bday today and it was great everything turned out awesome etter then anything store bought... THANKS SO MUCH SUBSCRIBED
That's great man, I'm glad you tried it, told you it was easy, best gravy anywhere, thanks for commenting and subscribing!
I just made these, i had everything in the kitchen/fridge except sausage. But i did have a 1b of ground pork. It turned out great, Sausage gravy and biscuits turned out great
Nice, yes just add some more pepper or cayenne to spice it up.
Or a good shake of cinnamon.... yum
What?
Or a handful of potpourri. Or even better, look up a recipe for homemade breakfast sausage and mix the spices in a couple days ahead of time, then have better than storebought sausage.
This help me
I tried this and. and so good THANKS!!!
thank you!
I made this a couple of days ago with homemade biscuits.. Delicious! .. Thank for this recipe!!
Lamisha Burrwell Glad you liked it and thanks for commenting!
Just made this and I have to say damn, that's good, happy days all the way from the UK :)
Wow lol you are the first from over there that didnt give me a hard time, thanks Dave!
Same method but I use Sage breakfast sausage! No need to add the poltury seasoning...Good eaten
Excellent video! I'm a chef & this is exactly how good gravy is made in restaurants. I like how you discussed the details of the process. Great camera angles too. Plus I liked how you used the canned biscuits. I actually prefer the taste & texture of those to the traditional crumbly variety.
Thank you for your nice comment, to hear this from a true chef really means something! I like the other type biscuits too, but I like to use each.
I would vote for flaky, dry homemade versus canned. Gravy is so rich, that I would prefer less rich bread underneath. Just my vote
@@bradduke2063 me too.
I made your recipe this morning. It worked out perfectly! Ty very much! :)
Thank you
I even used it over Chicken cutlets & Breaded Pork Chops & Mashed Potatoes. " Works for me."

Fresh ground black pepper:👍👍
Electric stove:👎👎👎
I have hunch you feel the same way 'bout it...lol
Lmao too funny! I hated that pos stove, hope you enjoy it, I know you will!
e greenie food porn I also disliked the electric stove. I bought and only cook out of porcilan covered cast iron pots & pans (like LeCruset but $40 ones at Costco). even heat and solved problem.
Biscuits and gravy or sausage and gravy?... that is the question..
"dont be a bum and do it right" hahaha love it. . . did the recipe turned out sooooooo good.
Lol awesome, glad you liked it, thanks
I watched this video to see how others did it and it's basically the same way... Well, I'm gonna go make me some right now. Can't fight the want no more. Good video btw.
Yes I can't imagine there is that many ways to make it, other than adding different spices, like garlic or onion powder, thanks!
Yea, but like you, I like to keep it classic simple. :)
I'm going to start making this instead of buying from McDonald's or the store! All I see are good comments so it must be delicious. Thanks for sharing!

Your sausage gravy looks amazing. Nice job. Love pepper in mine also.
I'm from Toronto and I just love southern cooking. I'm going down to South Carolina in February and I can't wait to fill my boots with some of the food and the warm hospitality. I watched this video to get me through yet another cold Canadian night!
Thanks! Why wait? Make it yourself, its better than any restaurant i have ever had it in.
I love your recipe, and will definatly try it, but I had an idea. I think I will add some eggs into the milk, mix it up, and pour it in. It might sound gross, but I'm going to give it a try. :-) I mix my sausage, or charizo this way for burritos, and eggs with bisquits, and gravy this way might be good too. *shrugs shoulders*, who knows! :-)
it not only SOUNDS gross it will be you will end up with a mushy omelette concoction forgive me for saying so
i just made your gravy and it was AMAZING! thank you
wendy susi Awesome thanks for letting me know Wendy 😀
Is it wrong to want biscuits and gravy for dinner, after watching this video? I think not... haha! Looks great, and thanks for sharing this one!
Made SOS for the first time and my husband keeps asking for more.lol
Growing up - never had sausage gravy. I’m was always white/country gravy over eggs/biscuits and sausage Pattie’s on the side.
I’ve don’t it both way as my wife like sausage gravy. But do it a bit differently.
Hillbilly/Appalachia cousin here. Michigan transport though. Just saying there are other ways that make this. Depends on what you like.
Good job though. Works for you.
I bet there isnt a way that would be bad lol I aint picky haha
I just made this today and couldn't believe how fast and easy it was. My wife and I just love this gravy. I didn't have a pan the size you used so I used an electric Wok instead which worked out perfectly. This is the only way I'm going to be making gravy. I'm glad your brother shared this with you. Please thank him for us and thank you for sharing it with us.
makeminefreedom I always thought it was hard to make too, thanks so much for watching and letting me know how you liked it, makes it all worth it, I will tell him ;)

Thank you!
Pillsbury Frozen Biscuits. 7 years on you may have discovered them already but they are FAR superior to canned.
These biscuits are so good that they render it almost pointless to make fresh biscuits.
I agree e the frozen ones are the best!
Man thank you... I been making biscuits and gravy since i saw your video
Awesome! Glad you like it!
that looks simple, yet delicious.....AND i loooove that you're listening to howard in the background LOL.
Nothing like good ol' SOS (Sh*t on a Shingle). Sprinkle on a little hot sauce w/some scrambled eggs and fried taters w/sauteed onions and that's some good eatin'!
where I come from shit on a shingle is cream chipped beef over toast
Man you are sooooooooooo RIGHT!!
Right on brother huu raaaa
Yes it is. But hes showing how to make biscuits and gravy
Shit good asf
I love sausage gravy and biscuits and yours look GOOD!
i watched this video and became hooked on sausage gravy but after watching 30+ videos on how to make it this is the only one that uses poultry seasoning. personally i love the flavor it adds but am surprised no one else uses it ?
parishm Most people complain about it lol I thought it was an odd ingredient but hey, I'll take it either way, thanks for the great comment!
I always just relied on the sausage for flavor but some times would get a floury taste I like lots of pepper and just about any seasoning
you might try adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce, it really kicks it up a notch :)
parishm I will, sounds great
I woke up with Sausage and biscuits on my mind. I'm Hispanic and we had beans every day, but the neighbor across the street who happened to be Anglo made this dish. I loved it!!!

Listen y'all, this is THE ONE.
Nice egg over easy on top and a hash brown and your good:) goin to show my wife this video so she can make them for me...One tip to give..try a little red pepper in your gravy, just a little adds flavor and not heat...
Sounds like it would be good, thanks !
Anthony Young try mixing a few eggs in with the milk and stir in. makes an egg gravy!
That's what I like. Biscuits and gravy topped with home fries then a couple of over easy eggs on top of the pile. I call it "one hell of a mess".
I prefer Cayenne pepper, it's perfect for seasoning that's a bit spicy and very flavorful.
Make it yourself lazy ass
Everybody's bitching about can biscuits but I will tell you those Grands are better than a lot of homemades that I have tasted. And personally I eat my sausage gravy over crispy home fries. That beats biscuits any day of the week.
I won't make homemade again, tge frozen ones are even better! Thanks for the nice comment!
i hope it turned out good

There is a huge difference by cooking the rue without the sausage. When you make a rue you need to cook it for a much longer time than you did. The flour has a chalky taste, by cooking it longer the chalky taste goes away. You can tell when it's done ( about 5-10 min ) because it will have a light off white color and have a slight nutty smell. And yes you will taste a difference.
Great Job!
Thanks a lot!

Poultry seasoning? With sausage all you need is black pepper and salt in the gravy. The sausage has enough spice and flavor of its own. Make this stuff all the time. My Okie mother taught me all about Southern style cooking.
Jeff Morse Yep that's why I said it's not needed if you don't have any, just followed the recipe I was given.
Jeff Morse if you know all about southern style cooking then why did you come to this video teaching about it 😂😂😂
lol have heard "OKIE" is years, my Nana used that word.
