    If you're unsure of the jelly, use brown sugar instead , I also use a lil mustard and cumin. Just a tip from my Grammys (and now mine) kitchen!

    Nice addition of the jelly.
    There are times I add that to a thick pasta sauce for a nice sweetness.
    Nice version of the classic sloppy joe here!

    I probably would have thrown in a bit of paprika or some hot sauce (in place of the jelly). I also like using tortilla shells for my sloppy joes and eat em like tacos. Def going to try the from-scratch option next time. Thanks for the idea.

    Hahaha...my daughters thought I was crazy when I was teaching them how to make sloppy joes and I put 1 1/2 tablespoons of delicious homemade grape jelly in the mix. I have my own recipe and I ALWAYS use grape jelly. But, I followed your recipe as close as I could and it came out perfect...just perfect. I might just keep yours as my first "go-to" recipe and use mine as a close second. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome recipe, Pohto. Definitely a keeper :)

    Barbecue Sauce and Grape Jelly instead of Brown Sugar. I will try anything once.
    I put a little grape Jelly in Beef Stroganoff. It tones down the saltiness.

    Grape jelly is an interesting twist. I know I use sugar in my tomato sauces but next time I'll try the jelly. Open face sandwich, put cheese on top and then take it to the broiler. My mom used to call it hamburger or sloppy joe pizza. It kept us fed and happy.

    grape jelly? try a little brown sugar...

    • @bloozedaddy
      @bloozedaddy 7 років тому

      grape jelly is very common in meatball appetizer recipes so it's not so far out there as an ingredient. Brown sugar is in the same vein...just more common for BBQ sauce type flavors. It's just combining sweet and savory either way.

      Oh please! Worried about handles? Of course his children aren't reaching and burning themselves; He is right there in his defense & doubtful, if he would put his children in harm's way to begin with. You must microwave a lot. No offense,. Bottom line: Comment on the recipe the other stuff is just life included.....WOW. People shock the s*** out of me every day with comments so un-related to actual recipe.

      ThePohto I agree, you never even balanced the acidity from the ketchup and worcestershire. You could have thrown in a teaspoon or so of chilli flakes/tobasco as your BBQ sauce would only add to the tangy flavour. The jelly probably sweetened it up but a bit of heat is always essential.
