I'm going to play devils advocate and say his actions weren't to smart either. Allegedly he tried to tackle and hold a cop after he a took a bottle from him. Why would you do that? Jiu jitsu is about self defense not ego.

But he never expected him to shoot him right there on the spot. Reminds me of that video of a black belt getting the same ending on CCTV. These jiu jitsu people need a wake up call to reality, but i think most have gotten that wake up call by now.

If you're quoting John Danaher- this makes sense. But he said he comes there every sunday for that specific workout. Jiu Jitsu works every muscle in your body. I'm certain he's also getting his leg workouts in too :)

Need someone to help out with his training technique. Strength training is interesting since people will often start without instruction, but you would never just do BJJ without a instructor showing you the right technique.
Does anybody know if he trainsd legs as well? Maybe on a separate day? Or perhaps he trained his legs enough during his BJJ workouts so felt he didnt need to train them at the gym. Just curious as I would have thought strength training for legs would be important for grappling and martial arts in general
would highly reccomend training legs 2-3 tines a week. primarily strength work, doin light/heavy cycles i.e. monday light squats, thursday heavy deadlifts week 1 monday heavy squats, thursday light deadlifts week 2, zercher squats/deadlifts are very underrated for grappling

James Brasco if you don’t know much about pull-ups then it would appear so. But, if you look at the science behind doing pull-ups, you’ll quickly realize that Lo’s form is very poor. That doesn’t mean he’s not good at BJJ. It just means that he has “horrible pull up form”. We don’t live in a perfect world and not everything is black or white..
