    The thought of the Stormlight Archives and Mistborn coming to the big screen is like Viagra to my soul... And I'm only half-joking... LOLOL!

    • @G3EKtv
      @G3EKtv  6 років тому +33

      I think Mistborn would do really good on the silver screen... but I think (because there's just sooooooo much) that Stormlight would be a better TV series

    • @Jevaughn
      @Jevaughn 6 років тому +18

      Totally agree. Stormlight Archives could be the next Game Of Thrones - but with more magic and less sex. Haha. Just as much/more action and political intrigue though. My only concern would be it getting the big budget and top-tier CGI and set designers.required. World-class quality or nothing, you know. Mistborn done right and marketed well would appeal to the mass market in a big way. I'm so happy this is happening.

      The only question now is "When??"

    • @KwanzaaJuice
      @KwanzaaJuice 6 років тому +4

      I would say there's a bout a 99% chance that SA or MB in TV or movie form would be awful...unless they're animated. The effects budget to make the magics look cool would be way more than I think would be possible for this.

    • @mibber121
      @mibber121 6 років тому +3

      Kyle Grounds the magic isnt very, uh, flashy? Like theres no giant laser beams or explosions of green fire or any of that shit, all theyd rlly have to do is make people glow a bit, and have some good light-stream effect for when the succ the light in. I dont think itd be that hard, but i would like to see it animated either way.

  • @mimcinni
    @mimcinni 6 років тому +46

    Hahaha Brandon got pretty obviously uncomfortable at 1:20 when the dude said the interview was about to get very romantic...Brandon Sanderson is on his way to being the rand al Thor of the fantasy author's world. I absolutely loved his work finishing the wheel of time, he did an amazing job. It was a great series to begin with but did start to get a little stale at about book 7 but he breathed new life into it. If the next seven books in stormlight archive are as good as the first three, it's definitely going to give wheel of time a run for its money. I'm seriously blown away by oathbringer. I read it and listened to the audiobook. If you have 50 hours to burn I would highly recommend the audiobook lol! The narrators are the same that did the wheel of time and are very very good at bringing different personalities to the individual characters. Great series so far!

    • @G3EKtv
      @G3EKtv  6 років тому +1

      (Cippy Speaking): See, I love Sanderson's work! And his finishing the Wheel of Time series makes me want to start it. But everybody tells me that it does kinda lull in the middle. Worth the time investment to get to Sanderson's ending?

    • @mimcinni
      @mimcinni 6 років тому

      G3EK there is a bit of lull but there's still a lot of things happening and a lot of information that comes into play in The last few books. still plenty of action but it just isn't as intense as the beginning and end, I guess you could say. But 100% worth it. If you like fantasy, you will not be disappointed that I can guarantee. I drive semi for a living and so I listen to the audiobooks now. They average about 40 hours per book. Took me a year to listen to the whole thing the last time lol! And that was listening several hours a day at work 5 days a week. But reading them took me far, far longer. the narrators of most all of Sanderson's books are Kate reading(for the female parts) Michael Kramer(for male parts) are absolutely awesome. I prefer the audiobooks because they bring a whole other dynamic into it and the characters really feel alive. I love the audiobooks because I can listen if I'm at the gym, cooking, mowing the law,etc etc etc...so anyway, sorry about my sales pitch for the audiobooks 😆

    Jasnah on the cover of Oathbringer always looks like Morena Baccarin to me - especially if you use Baccarin's Inara Serra from Firefly. If Baccarin is cast as Jasnah, I will absolutely hide in the attic for a half a day until my mind begins to accept how amazing it is. For a week after I will suffer random laughter and flocks of imaginary joyspren. For years after I will rewatch it obsessively (but I would do that anyway).

    The main problem with translating these books into movies is the fact that basically nothing is filler. It's not like Harry Potter of some other movie where you can skip certain conversations or sequences. Everything in these books is needed to push the story farther so skipping a certain scene or conversation will no doubt ruin it.

      Specialist in Failure I can see that but compared to Games of Thrones, Oathbringer perspectives are mild and keep the reader engaged without losing focus. Each characters perspective fills in a piece of the whole, whether it be in this book or the overall story.

    • @tovekauppi1616
      @tovekauppi1616 6 років тому +9

      Specialist in Failure I’m halfway through my second read through of Oathbringer, and I have to disagree. For the most part, we still stick pretty closely to the main three (ie Shallan, Kaladin and Dalinar) with a handful of other perspectives making appearances. To me, the interludes are used to great affect to foreshadow, show the world, get insight into other important characters motivations and so on. Had we been thrust into all these perspectives in the first book, it might have been overwhelming, but by now many of the perspectives we get if from familiar characters, which helps understanding immensely.

      Imo its pretty much the same as the other ones. We got some extra stuff with bridge four but thats about it.

      Stormlight is not even one of the more numerous povs. Other well regarded fantasy series like Malazan or ASOIAF has a lot more povs. Hell wheel of time has 1300+ POV at the end of the series.
