Mustache.....they will eat that jig up. I tie one almost exactly like this one but I use polar flash instead. Really nice tie. Only Comment I might suggest cut the crystal flash to length to save money. These supplies are getting more expensive by the minute! I do realize you are trying to make the under body nice and full so I can understand why you did what you did. I am very frugal though and try and save money in anyway I can. Nice job and you definitely ha e a clean and precise style. Fantastic tie Mustache. By the way Walmart has just started carrying Akron yarn that is pearlescent and you could use it to build your body. Looks exactly like the crystal flash you are using but in yarn. A skein of this yarn is $1.78. Whays unique about it is you can brush it out with a wire dog brush and it makes absolutely fantastic tailing material. Really nice material. Hope this helps you. Keep the videos coming....thanks for sharing.
You make great videos you should try tying your chenille starting at the head going back to hook point then bring thread back to head then wrap chenille back to head much easier
Alex, as I mentioned to Mustache I tie one simular to this one but I use polar flask and barred predator wrap. I do know from experience that when using polar flash, you do t have to use as much to get a lot of action. I think this particular jig Mustache shared I more for a profile and high visibility type presentation. I have tank tested polar flask and compared it to crystal flash and there are subtle differences. Crystal flask seems to reflect light more consistently then polar flash but polar flash actual changes appearance when wet. I do know that polar flask in most cases has a lot more action then crystal flask. I use both in many of my jig designs depending on water color and temperature. I just found Mustache's site not long ago and he does a really good job explaining his techniques. I appreciate his skill.
I tie this jig as well. Using red thread simulates the gills on a baitfish. Catch rates went up substantially. You are using way more flash than you need. I use 3 or 4 strands doubled twice over.
I get most of my materials from Flyfishfood.com and craft stores. I’d say support your local fly shop if you can. For a vise I’d just pick up a cheap one online or at a fly shop.
I really like that jig. Almost a monkey milk color which is my go to. Ordering the chinelle now!!!
Just started and getting into jig time you do make it look easy and it really looks nice preciate the video

Have you tried using half, or maybe even quarter, of the amount of crystal flash to see if it's just as effective?

I haven’t tried it with less, but i’m sure it would fish just as well if not better.

I think he's going with a bigger profile bait.
That would drive the Lake Erie steelheads nuts... 🤣
Having a hard time finding the thicker more full crystal flash chenille. Any recommendations?
I use Wapsi. It’s nice and full.
@@MustacheJigs I can't seem to find it. Is hareline wapsi? Link by chance?

@@MustacheJigs Thanks much. I'd have never found it. With micro, small, fine, medium large. It's all confusing.
I'm going to start tying some of your crappie jigs. Though I'm brand new to it. Where do I buy everything?
