Are the UC, FC and House the only sovereign entities in the Settled Systems? Or are there others which we have not seen yet? It would have been good to produce some sort of expanded lore, with entities and peoples we do not see in the game. At least in the form of independent planets. Maybe the game could have been shifted to the 2700s or something to give more time for a more interesting geopolitical situation to appear. The game's lore is very shallow. The world does not seem large and you would think that the UC is made up of a handful of survivors, rather than the entirety of humanity moved offworld.
IIRC there is 'LIST' which is basically the independent settler groups. They don't really control planets though, being more like independent homesteaders. There are a few quests you can do for them, with at least one multi-quest chain that has you clearing sites in orbit and on the ground.
@@XoRandomGuyoX Space squatters or homesteaders don't do it for me. That is not an interesting sort of politics, because their resources are necessarily limited. Single system polities could work. Think something like the Honorverse, where just multisystem polities have a lot of internal autonomy, some smaller multi-system polities exist, plus single system, plus the odd divided system, and then you get the secret colonies, homesteaders etc. This is why setting is farther into the future would have been a good idea.

Also, Bethesda is a dinosaur stuck in their ways. Do they even recognize it as a failure? It sold relatively well if I recall so that's all they care about.
Personally, I'm disappointed with Starfield. That game promised the entire galaxy but instead, it only delivered an asteroid. The only good things about Starfield are the soundtrack, the combat (in both space and planetside) and the ship customization/build mechanic. Everything else sucks. 😞
