Lovely Pat
He was a Very clever man 😊
My daughter loved his books. ❤
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is my favourite
I loved Tales of the Unexpected which is still showing. Clever man.
Hello Annette, do you think it would have been good to have one episode where you got everything you expected? There was no mystery so that would have been the ultimate on the expected 😜 Thank you my sweet!
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep yes it would, I watched one of the episodes yesterday, when you watch now it seems dated but great for the time and rememver we only had a handful of channels.👍
My daughter absolutely loved his books she ended up with her head in a book ever since. I loved tales of the unexpected but also watched the films with my children. I found this very interesting thanks Alan for sharing was lovely finding out his life story. Love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙💚
Isn't it nice when you have a personal connection to the subject like your your daughter enjoying his works.. And you! I was seriously outgunned by a lot of people watch my little video because I really didn't know anything apart from the tales of your expected... But they did enjoy researching him. I think if I could have ever met him I would have enjoy his company Thank you Gill it's always a pleasure to read your comments cu Alan
I sent the link to your channel and this story to my daughter . I was talking to her before and she was watching George and the giant peach a Roald Dahl film as I said she loves his books 📚 ❤️
@@gillnelson9037 Well, thank you Gill It's special that you have that connection with your daughter which was stronger in reality than my connection I didn't know much about him. I only knew he was the author of the original books from tales of the unexpected. Often when I do the films I get to really like the people because I've studied them. But it's lovely to connect with you and your daughter. I'm sure will meet one day. You've been so supportive. Thank you, Alan
He was born in the city of Cardiff the same city as myself what a fantastic children’s author your filming on your mobile is fantastic
He led a very full life and wrote for the children he seemed a nice chap RIP ❤ Till the next one 😊
Thank you, June
Hello alan my children had the books by this wonderful man mind you i am going back 51 years the books have been passed down to the grandchildren who loved them now they have been put away for the great grandchildren thank you for another fantastic video from sue and vic
Wow Sue 51 years. I didn't know it's written books that far back, but can you imagine the value for money you've got out of those books? Thank you for the great coming. Alan
Just think of all the people listening to you tonight you see you
I know this you Pat and Jonathan so thank you both. Where's everybody else gone? :-)
If they don’t see you tonight there will be tomorrowxxxx
Morning Alan! A great upload on our childhood hero Roald Dahl who wrote such wonderful books, some turned into classic films for all ages. Loved the dancing cha cha cha! 💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🦋🦋🦋
The very best of British writers!🦋
Just be careful. Sandra or am I incorporate twinkle toes into all my little films and then you will regret... 😜
And do you know what even you are a lovely story teller
That's what my mummy is to say. I was good at telling stories 😜
Great message, growing up is a lie to stunt our inquisitiveness 😊
We all get wrapped up in the small stuff of everyday life and miss the great beauty 🤩
What a lovely story Alan beautiful place I remember his wife Patricia o neal In the Walton’s Christmas movie sad about his daughter thankyou Alan lovely video ❤️😊
That's another snippet of information I didn't know. Crystal about its wife in the waltons movie 🍿 Thank you for that. He was a great guy. Alan

118 I think wow :-)
I didnt no much about him until now, thanks for that alan, really interesting it was great he discovered that special gift he had, otherwise he woiuld have probably faded into the background.
You and me the same James, that's the beauty of doing this little channel I find people that and bi knew nothing about sometimes and I get such interest on buz getting to know them and It stays with you. What is not more interesting than humanity and these people have the common connection of celebrity. Thank you every so much. We both feel the same. Regards, Alan
Roald Dahl had a great imagination I loved reading his books
Wow what a fantastic tribute to a brilliant author and all those films they made out of his books there is actually a roald Dahl museum in Buckinghamshire were he lived
Well done Alan Thank you
Thank you everything. Yes I did go to look at the museum but I didn't go in because it was evening and it was closed and they arrest you if you try that kind of thing 😉 Thank you very much for your positive it keeps me going mate
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep you are most welcome keep the good work up well done
💚💚💚thank you 😊
You never fail Alan with all the interesting stories I love watching you the stories are so informative x
Well that was an expected boom boom. Thank you, Maureen, much love to you
Brilliant 😊
Great video Alan!
Hand nipper love your name. Thank you
Having a binge on your blogs , loving them all 😊
Hello Dawnie how brave of you? 😉 I don't think I could face watching. I only ever watch them once but thank you. That's extremely kind of you. Have a lovely weekend. Alan
Oh, you're not stupid! but you are extremely funny. I am still intermittently chuckling away at the Tales of the Unexpected dancing from the other day and now the twinkle toes is setting me off again 😁 Imagine the horror of knowing your plane is going down and bracing yourself for god alone knows what. Isn't that tree bench so lovely. I was and am an avid fan of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory film, the Gene Wilder one. Julie Dawn Cole made an awesome Veruca Salt.
Hello Donna, the bench at the names of seven people four must have been his children but I didn't include it because I thought the film was getting long and I wasn't sure who do the three names were :-) no if I have done the dance it would have been the pure horror talk about a tale of unexpected....wow have, lovely Saturday. evening Cu Alan
No No, just wave your hands around a bit and let your inner dancer out😁 You too, have a good one.
Well done Alan.... you've done it again another interesting and informative vlog.... Cheers
Thank you Richard. I like to look of you motorhome. All the best, Alan
So so happy you've done such and absolute WORLDWIDE legend let alone a British one. Absolutely thoroughly enjoyed this video. I didn't think it was possible to enjoy your videos any more 🤔😆. But Roald Dahl is one of my all time favourite writers because of his unwavering ability to entertain audiences of all ages a true literary hero. Awesome video Alan as always 👌👍💚
Carolin, I've got to promise myself to read some of his books after such a lovely compliment about my video. I really did like the guy. I watched three documentaries on him and he was lovely with all the neighbours. They used to meet once a week and play snooker. He was very unpretentious but also very intuitive how he connected with the children. Thank you ever so much 💝 Alan
He understood how children loved to be scared- remember sitting around the lamp post telling each other ghost stories? Peeking through your fingers at Dr Who? Of course children love the scary stories, long may he live on in the imagination of us all- another good one my friend x🏴
He certainly seem to tap into children's imagination from what I've read and watched and imagination can sometimes be better than animation. I think he was a very intelligent man. It's a shame you stopped peeking through your fingers...😉 Thank you, Carol.
@@MotorHomeBeepBeepwho says I have?!!
Hi Alan another great video and what a great writer he was and what an amazing man he was with all the adversity he had in his life he had to overcome plus help others as well. Thanks for for doing this video it’s very much appreciated 👏👏👏👍
Hi Psy I really didn't know too much about him till I started looking into the film but it was a great guy in lots of directions and I was very very happy to do it. Glad you enjoyed it my friend. Alan

Thank you Paul. I didn't know much about this chat but I got to like him a great deal. Thank you for your comments ☺️
Thank you, Alan, again, your enthusiasm is so uplifting, I always rewatch or look into something after your videos, and they always ramp up my interest to explore other avenues.👍
The truface Jacqueline that every time I do one it kind of expanse your knowledge of the entertainment industry because she do get to learn so many facts about their life. I found it super interesting myself doing the research. Then I try and condens it down into a small film. But I'm very pleased you enjoy the videos. I'll give you a wave on the next one 😉 bye for now Alan
This is really lovely, thank you
Thank you Sue and so are you for saying
Nice one Alan, another great video mate

Really enjoy your eulogies, always a pleasure to listen to,fantastic information and you have a way of capturing the essence of the person ,always look forward to next one 👍😊
Thank you user. I always like to try and get under the skin of the person by watching things. It's the bit I enjoy the most. Take care my friend. Alan
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep thanks A
Thanks Alan ,kind regards, all the best John 👍
Hi Alan , really fantastic video, what a fascinating and gifted writer he was. I do watch Tales of the unexpected on Sky Arts sometimes and love the willy wonker movie with Gene wilder to this day. Im still just a big kid really 😄 thanks Alan.
Hello Sally, I love you photograph. You always look so enthusiastic and natural and I love that bit about being childish because if he can be that we can be happy. Whatever. Thank you darling
Oh Alan thank you so much for this tribute Roald Dahl was my childhood fave with his sinister sense of humour him and dr Seuss we’re my faves I never knew anything about him until now thanks ❤ btw I always thought it was Torah Wilcox that was the dancer on TO T unexpected well you live and learn lol cheers mate xxx
Toyah
It's okay Rowan. I got it was Toyha she did look a bit like her. I can see where you're coming from. I don't think the lady will. I got paid much. She did a very quick routine then she was on every program and the next 30 years :-) I didn't know anything about the right turn until I did the research, but he was an interesting guy. Thank you, I'm going to hi what re your cap one day. Take care Alan
Hey Alan I would be proud to send you my hat lol 🤣 give me an add I’ll have dry cleaned no charge no rental 🤣😂🤣 x
@@rowanstephenson3192 I would come with no cap in hand have a lovely evening Rowan
Armchair Thriller scared me to death, I don't know if it were the music or the hands over the chair arms. Good scary stories though! RIP Roald!
Alan yet another fantastic video, so informative 👏 keep up the great work fella
Hello Simon, I'll keep going just for you. Thank you my friend
We've all gotta keep going fella or we'll seize up 😆
Loved Tales of the Unexpected still showing on one of the Sky channels. read the books to my children and now grandchildren. What a legacy this talented man has left us for future generations to enjoy. Great video Alan, safe travels.
Joy You put it into perspective. He's giving so much in enjoyment. It's un measurable. I think you should have done this video cuz you knew him better than me. Much love to you! Alan
@MotorHomeBeepBeep No definitely not, I am camera shy, hence no photo. You do such a fantastic job Alan can't be beaten.
@@joyclayton-gh3xq Hello Joy 100% true. I love your name the best. It's the perfect power name. And 100% true. Our kind of you. I really appreciate them. Much love to you, Alan
Another great video Alan. I'm off on a nationwide road trip next weekend to film quite a few videos. I'll probably stay in Travel Lodges around the country. Keep making those vids my friend, best on UA-cam.
Hello grave days, I can't believe that you can do a whole nationwide tour in a weekend..... 😜 Seriously, I've enjoyed watching your channel. You have a very natural presentation and I'd love to meet you, so let's keep in touch. Tell me if you're anywhere near Whitby or Bradford and back in the area. All the best my friend, Alan
That was so interesting. He had a great imagination and wrote some wonderful stories and books. I saw the film BFG, with Mark Rylance playing the giant. A wonderful film and bizarrely I had a soft spot for the giant he was great. Thanks for another excellent video Alan.
That a great memory! Mag it sounds like the it was a gentle giant 😁
@MotorHomeBeepBeep 🤣🤣 should have said it wasn't very long ago. So even more bizarre as I'm a woman fast approaching 75.
Hi Again Alan,I enjoyed this probably more than any others of yours,The best thing about this tribute is I haven't seen Roald Dahl being done by anyone else,so its Fresh, also using your phone seemed better to me! Where was your blonde lady friend?thought She might show up towards the end! Cheers mate.
Roger, thank you but he has been done buy two other channels in the same vaine if you do a search you'll see but I wasn't too concerned about that because you can only do your own thing. I didn't watch the other interpretations but just enjoy doing my feelings and I liked Roald extremely I would love to met him. Rena is backing in Grease where she lives. Interesting about using my Android phone, I didn't have a gimbal so it was extremely basic so I have to consider which is best ? You would think the gimbal wide focus but this was shot with nothing but the phone. I'll put this up as a pole tomorrow. See which people think is the best. Should be interesting 🤔 thanks for the thinking. See you soon Roger.
Chitty is one of my favourite films. Apparently Ian Fleming didn’t like the film, he found, as expected for we find it, with its sinister side. It was never meant as a children’s film.
That was his interjection.. it give it more depth
I wonder if the plots where the BFG’s footprints are, are purchased or reserved?
I've no idea. Bohemian are you thinking of purchasing one?
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Wgat I mean is they in places where other grave plots could be.
The plane he crashed in was a Gloster Gladiator
What's a shame there didn't have navigation 🧭 He could have turned back.
I think you should have said Great Missenden not Mixenden which is near Halifax sorry for correcting you. .
Don't worry Trevor, I don't know the one there Halifax and I did say it incorrectly but then span the camera and said it looking at the church board correctly so but we are make mistakes anyway. I always like it when people tell me... I think ? 😜
Surely that 'hill' is only a slight incline...😂
all depends on the size of one's belly
@@MotorHomeBeepBeep 🤣🤣
Got no sound on this.
some on else said that but everyone else is OK ?
I sure did very clear actually lovely filming of his grave beautiful
Great video Alan. 👍
Just got you. Enjoyed it Mike
