The book ‘Boy’ is a book he wrote on his childhood. Without giving it all away, the sweet shop prank is hilarious.
I was always led to believe he wrote in yellow colouring pencil.
There is also a film about his life story and is worth a watch. Absolutely a brilliant man and his stories do live on.

Loved reading his books when I was at school in the 80s/90s. It’s a shame that people are trying to rewrite history because they have nothing better to do.

One of the greatest writers ever! Loved all of his books. Remember hearing on the news he had sadly passed away and I was only 9 at the time. His books are a work of art and I’ll always love them. R.I.P Ronald Dahl gone but certainly never forgotten. Thanks Paul for yet another amazing video.

Oh this one means a lot to me. My high school bought Roald Dahl's childhood home Cumberland Lodge in Llandaff, Cardiff as it was right next door, accessed through the school lane and to be used for music. It was rarely used as we had music space in school, but occasionally we had a small lesson in the front room on the right as you walk in. The house was empty most of the time. I realized I could go there whenever I wanted on breaks and lunch and play the piano in one of the upstairs rooms. During school hours the door was never locked. Upstairs were lots of empty rooms, and I kept my sanity. I'm an introvert who found school overwhelming, so his house was my sanctuary which I'm so grateful for. I remember everything was wooden, the floors, the walls etc. There was a basement but I was never brave enough to go down the steps as it was dark. I loved it there. I'd grown up reading Roald Dahl books. I'd read them all by high school and moved on to "boy" and "going solo", and there I read that this house used to belong to his family. I told the headmistress who had no idea. No fuss was made. I thought it was magical. As a little girl about 6 I'd asked my mother to type a letter to Roald inviting him to my birthday party, she did so but didn't tell me until years later she didn't send it. I often wonder if he'd replied if she had sent it to his publisher, even if it was just a little letter I'd have treasured it. It's strange how Roald has sort of been there my whole life. What a wonderful man, who brought so much joy to everyone. What a raw talent. (Just to let you know it's George's Marvellous Medicine at 7:16 not machine) Thank you for making this ♥♥

Unfortunately, Roald Dahl is famously known for hating the original Willy Wonka with Gene Wilder and why Johnny Depp's/Tim Burton's adaptation was allowed to be produced. Personally, I prefer the first version. The newer version is just a bit weird in all the wrong ways

@@L1am21 well unfortunately, the movie was a flop at the time. Which meant his name and book were associated with it. However, today, it's considered as a true classic and Tim Burton's adaptation not as good regardless of it being closer to the book.

The reason why you cannot get into the churches you visit is that they are locked these days to protect against theft and vandalism. The Church I used to go to was open all day for people to visit or light a candle until one day it was broken into damaged and the candle money box stolen.
