- Located in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest in Illinois is an Illinois State Park named Ferne Clyffe State Park that is quite possibly the best in Southern Illinois.
Ferne Clyffe (Fern Cliff State Park) near Goreville, Marion, and Carbondale Illinois is packed full of natural beauty. Sandstone bluffs and waterfalls make their home here. The park has abundant hiking trails and excellent opportunities to view nature.
This video highlights the fall autumn season and is filmed on the Big Rocky Hollow Trail, along with the Ferne Clyffe Lake Trail, and the Round Bluff Trail.
I was interested in getting to know this girl at one time. I only knew about her after seeing my sticker on her car. I saw that she went to Ferne Clyffe and decided to go and see if she was there. She was. We started talking that day. We became friends and hiked together every weekend shortly after. Then we became more than friends. Now we live together. Happily together. That park is very special to me. Blackjack Oak is my favorite trail. Best fall colors trail, too! Great video, Gary!

New subscriber. I live in Chicago and love Fern Clyffe. Been twice. Accidentally hooked a snapping turtle while fishing there! Rock formations are beautiful. You found so many that I haven't seen. Next time.
