- Sometimes you film way TOO MUCH and end up with scenes that don't incorporate into the story your wanting to tell. This is the fate of these BONUS SCENES from this year's videos.
Filmed in or near the LaRue Pine Hills located in Shawnee National Forest, which is the home to Snake Road.
Great video
Thank you.
I climbed down that very hillside 30 years ago without a rope from the top
Very interesting area in the LaRue pine hills. I was kind of surprised that you didn't recognize the green fuzzy plant as Mullen. It can be used for lots of medical purposes and it makes great toilet paper.
Very interesting about the plant. There’s a lot I wish I knew more about. 👍
I really enjoyed the video. It was very beautiful and interesting
Thank You!
Very interesting. Those bolts are huge. Good to see they are trying to prevent any further erosion as best they can. I'm digging these videos. Thank you.👍
It indeed is. It seems the whole plan is waiting to erode away. Thank You, :)
That chimney area is known as Government Rock.
Nice, saw that name on the topo map
Those gravestones - what a find! Wouldn't some local historical entity be interested in studying/preserving them and/or the site?
Couldn't Agree More. It's a unique place that has a story waiting to be told.
Hey - think about registering that grave stone on Find a Grave! Take a still shot from your video; somebody might be trying to connect with an ancestor. I really enjoyed your video and might have to find a way to visit the Shawnee National Forest. Curious about the former route of the Mississippi River - did the two recent massive floods change the flow or something else?
Good idea! Thanks and the Shawnee is well worth a visit. In regards to the Mississippi, the change in routes was pre -levee. As for theories, there are several, but over the last 300 yrs there are records of great changes, such as earthquakes and massive flooding, It truly is a great place to ponder on the reason it is here.
Have you been to the cemetery ?
That I believe is the Minton cemetery , you where at on the point by the Jackson Union county border .
Very Interesting! Couldn’t locate anything about it. That is the only gravestones I came across.
be careful poking your face into a hole or cave - we do have bobcats and such here
Duly noted! What does show up via the video, is I am also using my sense of smell to scout out these places.
