Thanks for creating this type of content. This is not only about LC300, this is also about Australia & why we need these types of vehicles in Australia.
I’d love to see the air filter and inside the air box after that trip. Plenty of reports of dust ingress on these like the 200. It’d be cool to be able to have an eye ball at it after some proper outback k’s like this 👍🏼
I've watched this series about 7 times now and I just love it. I can't explain why, it just feels so good to see you guys going out there in the cruiser. Can you do another big trip in it?

Is it just me spotting the obvious, but when the R & D development of this vehicle on std suspension was undertaken it wasn't carrying a thumping bullbar up front.
That's has got to cause bump stop, bash plate whallowing action experienced here, surely.
Obviously upgraded front end would be necessitated with that additional weight.
Aside from that, grand effort guys, loved the series and look forward to following testing, just invite me.
Now that finally was a first for me,
I've never seen a vehicle go straight up and over big red, watched many attempt it, over & over again without success, always beaten by the soft steep last few metres.
Eventually all ascend it by the right hand track that's not got the steep soft grade the last 20 metres, just a harsh left kink that still can consume the wheels down to the chassis without correct momentum.
Last request, what was the fuel consumption through the sand from Mt. Dare to Birdsville. Seems reasonable if ¼ of tank left.
Maybe you did add a jerry can or two?

Agreed. A bull bar dramatically increases the pitch motion in a cruiser. I want to keep my suspension stock so I definitely won’t be adding a bar to my 300 series. I made that mistake on my 200 series and went through many aftermarket brands trying to find suspension with a ride that I liked that would pick the front back up with the weight of a bar on it. The short wheel base on the cruiser exaggerates pitch.

I don't know what a Popple corner is, but in the US there is the four corners point where four states meet.

I don’t get this complaint. How much bigger do you want it to be? Toyota kept the wheelbase of the 300-series identical to that of the 80-series (and 100-series and 200-series) because this provides the best off-road performance for its size. If Toyota made the LC bigger it would compromise the break-over, departure and approach angle. Other off-roaders are also not exactly spacious inside like the defender 110, G-wagon and Range Rover.
@@electrikoptik mate, I just find there’s a lack of leg room compared to the 200. The centre console in the 200 was lower so you could splay your legs. And there is less room in the second row seats as well. A Pajero sport has more room in the back. They could have done a better job at getting more space out of the interior for a vehicle of it’s size.
@@mazdar100 My Discovery Sport has more rear leg room if I slide the 2nd row back which it always is, and also more than a Defender or Range Rover.

It walked it in, the sand pushed us up the wrong line a few times but the hard one was easy.

We made it from Mount Dare to Birdsville with a quarter of a tank left

Now please do the same trip in a Discovery 5, the newest Range Rover & the new Defender all stock except for the same add-ons. Take all 3 at once.
I'd love a Landrover but the value depreciation and reliability question constantly on my mind would be too stressful.

I'd expect the standard suspension to be half decent when Toyota R'n'D the vehicle for years and hundreds of thousands of kms in the outback, and let's not forget the price point which let's be honest, commands a expectation for decent factory suspension. If you need to change it straight away then that's a let down imo. We're talking about a $120k plus vehicle for a decent model

by the same token though, look what they charge for a 79 series cruiser that basically needs all new everything.
lexus lx 570 n the new lx 500d is a better car for the money imo. the suspension is better tuned for comfort.. also in australia you could get a diesel lexus 450d so why not get it second hand and mod it to suit your wants. If you have that money either go big ir go home. if not buy something used from the same platform and do mods.
Any 4x4 can do it... its just tyre pressure and 4x4 needed. You think they got a loan 300 if was hard 🤔 🤣
Frankly, after 14 years of waiting for a the 300 Series to be created, Toyota did the bare minimum to build a new vehicle. The 300 series is so over rated & incredibly expensive for the features you receive in the GXL & every other variant above it. What Toyota have relied on for success is their Australian wide Dealer Network, without it, Toyota would be finished

That Confederate flag is a shame on such a good series.
If you are trolling that is pretty funny, but if you are serious that is not a Confederate flag it is a standardised desert flag.
Who paid for the diesel, food and ancilliaries on this trip. Its a Toyota infomercial come on you blokes you have to try harder than this. And I have got Landcruisers myself stop pissing in peoples pockets.
