- How to tune percussion instruments of style tracks easily in Yamaha keyboards. Style Editing Techniques for Yamaha. You can tune a style to different scales without having multiple drum kits in different tunings.
This is done using the drum setup feature. If you are not familiar with the drum setup feature, there is another video( • Yamaha Drum Setup in d... ) about it in detail.

@@ArrangerTutorials thank you very much.
Manoj,
Very interesting, I didn't know that drum kits may need to be tuned to a specific scale. Is this example unique to the tabla instrument> Is that a characteristic of it? Would I need to do this also for Pop / Rock kits? or Ballads? On my songs, I have just used the packaged kits, no additional tuning, and they seem to be just fine. Thanks! Jerry
@Jerry, It is not specific to tabla. You can tune any drum sound. It depends on the type of instrument. But sounds like bass drum, hihats etc do not require tuning. Even in tabla, the bass notes(the bigger drum notes) dont need tuning. Only some of the notes from the smaller piece are tuned.
@@ArrangerTutorials wood congos and bongos require tuning ... ?
i have never cared about bongo tuning
but it makes a big diffrence
there is a small catch with your method
like, it will be time consuming if i want to change pitch of the song and resave or save the style as new.
so its better to creat an expansion pack with tabla tuned seperatly
like, C to B (and there is a yamaha expansiion pack for free to download, where you there are many indian styles + voices... u shd check that out)
Expansion packs will work in some cases. I have made my own expansion packs too. Still I use the drum setup feature because there would be song specific drum sounds in styles.
But if you have kits tuned for each key and not using drum set up, changing the kits will be easy
Im from papua island indonesia.....
