@aodhanmonaghan4664 The difference is that the purpose of snogging does not require culinary preparation lol. Also, the placenta being an organ is offal that requires preparation like other offal and meat. The placenta's purpose does not change anything.
@natashagoode501 you're approaching cannibalism from a culinary perspective. I was approaching it from a legal perspective. For instance, to my knowledge, no individual has been imprisoned for cannibalism after being caught biting their own fingernails, despite fingernails being undeniably part of a human, with cells and DNA. The PURPOSE of the consumption of human tissue is generally seen as irrelevant. Whilst Hannibal Lecter might discuss the subject of cannibalism by musing about wine pairings etc, I don't think it's unreasonable to approach the topic from the perspective of the law, as most people would
@aodhanmonaghan4664 negatories. My reasoning is from a legal perspective. Nails aren't an organ, nor are shedded dead skin cells which are the waste product of the skin organ. There is a legal definition of cannibalism that is fairly consistent across all jurisdictions. Self-cannibalism is also a thing, but a discussion for another time. The issue raised on QI referred to the consumption of other people's placentas (placentas are legally defined as an organ) for the taste and enjoyment. And that is the issue here.
