I realize this story is two years old now, but this is high school level for heaven's sake. School administrative staff and coaching staff should have taken this issue much more seriously. They were doing the kid (and the kids he's playing with/against) no favours by allowing him to play.
This school board just sent a huge message to every other highschool football team in the USA. This type of criminal activity while playing a football game will result in the suspension of the entire team. I f this resulted in death imagine the lawsuits this school district would be facing today. This school board did exactly the right thing in the suspension of the team . A lesson for any one else even thinking of doing this should see the results here.
What could the coach, the team, or the school do to prevent this in the first place? Use magical powers to put a forcefield in front of the ref? The suspension of the entire team was not a good call. And if it's legal matters that suggest it's logical to sue anyone other than the attacker, then it's the law's fault for being fundamentally incompetent. No one other than the football player should be punished.
@@andrew2377 No, this was the right decision. This was not only a liability issue, but the school and the district has to send a message that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated. This is a TEAM sport. Since the young man committed an assault as a member of the team, the entire team must suffer the consequences. No way around it. If you still have issues, then you need to reread Troy B.’s comment in this thread, until you finally understand why. Should not be too hard to figure out for yourself.
Why? They support this behavior. He felt comfortable acting this way based on the culture. And had did it in every other sport he played so everyone knew and accepted this. The entire school athletic program should be suspended for 10 years.

Exactly. Just like my community. We’re a community. One crazed guy goes out and hurts a child we should all pay. The whole community should be punished. After all we’re a team of individuals. Or how about my church. We’re all a family. So one person screws up we all should pay. The whole church. This mind thought is wrong. We might be a team, but everyone can’t be liable for what someone else does. We each should have accountability for our actions. The other team player did try to stop him if you watch the footage. Next thing you know, this liberal country will try to do something like make all healthy people wear a mask because someone else is unhealthy. This is the same indoctrination of mind as saying one is guilty until proven innocent.

Yes he does and this boy needs help. Anger is fuel that burns quickly and is very dangerous if not controlled. Your right he will kill someone if this is not addressed by his parents, coaches, someone.
How about assault with the intent to injure? This clown needs to formally charged and, if convicted, do jail time. Playing football is not an exemption from criminal acts.

Otherwise, all the boy did was advertise his aggression to colleges that can teach him how to keep it under control.

I realize this story is two years old now, but this is high school level for heaven's sake. School administrative staff and coaching staff should have taken this issue much more seriously. They were doing the kid (and the kids he's playing with/against) no favours by allowing him to play.
In all reality he could have severely hurt the ref, possibly paralyze him. He is lucky the ref is ok, could have been way worse

Kick out high school, assault. Charges red to be filed.
What is this school doing,????😮😮😮😮
This school board just sent a huge message to every other highschool football team in the USA. This type of criminal activity while playing a football game will result in the suspension of the entire team. I f this resulted in death imagine the lawsuits this school district would be facing today. This school board did exactly the right thing in the suspension of the team . A lesson for any one else even thinking of doing this should see the results here.
5-10 years in prison would not be an inappropriate punishment for that gang banger in training.
UIL is all Texas High School sports. Edinburg is this school only. Edinburg only suspended itself for 1 year. UIL dropped a bigger hammer.
@@andrew2377exactly
I do feel sorry for his teammates who are all being punished for his actions.
Why? They support this behavior. He felt comfortable acting this way based on the culture. And had did it in every other sport he played so everyone knew and accepted this. The entire school athletic program should be suspended for 10 years.
it isn't fair to all the other players but they are supposedly a team. one goes they all go. don't be mad at the UIL for 2 year probation, be mad at the jerk who caused the problem
Well said - fair doesn't exist in the real world.
Unfortunately, your statment holds water. How ever if a player is acting like this and the so called team never corrected him 🤔

The ref should sue the school for letting him play in anything after the first time he did it.
So what's the epilogue? Is it true the player was arrested a year or two later on a drug charge? What happened to the ref? Did he press charges/file suit? Was there any civil consequences for the player?
Kids got a problem. Some day it may cost someone their life?

Yes he does and this boy needs help. Anger is fuel that burns quickly and is very dangerous if not controlled. Your right he will kill someone if this is not addressed by his parents, coaches, someone.
Thanks for replying.

How about assault with the intent to injure? This clown needs to formally charged and, if convicted, do jail time. Playing football is not an exemption from criminal acts.

... seems to be more than one obviously
In the ideal world, he was kicked off the high school football team, ending his football career and any hopes he had of going to college, except McDonald's University.
Why play around with him. Charge him and lock him up
This guy is a hot head and needs lots of counseling(jail time too) before he goes way over the top to hard core violence. I disagree with punishing other sports teams from this school for the sole act of one person's stupidity. Why punish all the other kids of this school?
"Faron Ray" ...how do you know the people responsible for ANY and ALL issues like this, are not just as guilty for failing to do their jobs? It is the responsibility of ALL the leaders and teachers in this school to teach ALL students HOW TO CONDUCT THEMSELVES. Yes, this is ONE student, BUT, he has had previous run-ins WHICH THE LEADERSHIP DID NOT ADDRESS ....HENCE PUTTING THE WHOLE SCHOOL IN A VERY BAD LIGHT.
This level of "punishment", as you put it, WILL HAVE SOME MEANING TO EVERYONE ELSE AT THIS SCHOOL ....unlike the typical "sugar-coating" that now takes place throughout society when people break the law .....as is so common-place in today's society.
Punish all teams because every coach is responsible for conduct of all students. He attacked a ref at a soccer game and now football! Send the message to every high school in America that if you attack anyone as a student athlete, you all the coaches and every other athlete will pay the consequences for your actions.
I am a retired Football ref. I know this kind of thug. The school coaches and admin recognize these idiots, but in order to win, they blink. No place in any sport for unsportspersonship

this was too lenient for such an outrageous event. This event does NOT become something "not discussed". for EVERY day of the probation, that entire team and SPECIFIC player should be reminded of his selfish action costing the team. Otherwise, all the boy did was advertise his aggression to colleges that can teach him how to keep it under control.
This kid has issues
A 3 day suspension from school....gee that will get sure his attention!! How about loss of any scholarship or recruiting possibility. How about criminal charges as a result of the assault.
He's been arrested. Hopefully he does a little time .
He should be in jail. Might as well get used to his future dwelling. He’s sure to graduate to prison.
Even if he got no other punishment, he made himself un-recruitable for any university in Division One, or even Division Two. There are many athletes who are just as good, and don’t have anger issues. Road Rage anybody?
There's a skewed sense of justice by attributing one person's violent behavior to an entire school program. I believe punishing the whole team, coaches and school is just plain wrong. South Texas officials are brutal and take their football way too serious.
It's not wrong. there's a pattern of bad decisions and bad actions here. This sends a message to this school and others; F around, find out.
@@robk1310 I can see that kind of justice happening at a military boot camp but high school football ? Really ? Why should innocent folks be blamed for someone else's criminal behavior. That's just plain stupid and counterproductive. It discourages the good folks and actually fosters anti - authority sentiment.
File suit against the school
Yesenia Molina should be dismissed for her poor judgement.
Actions like these should have Severe consequences. Back in my day, that would be career ending for said person. Also, the rest of the team shouldn't be penalized. Penalize the player, not the team.
That kid should have sat in jail and should have never went back to that school or any public school especially since he did it in soccer
He’s gonna end up behind bars in the future unless he collects his thoughts and actions after this. Christ will calm him if he accepts him.

Why are they wearing masks on a Zoom call?
The parents had to have had some idea that their son was having some anger issues. That just doesn't appear one day. All. Although maybe they were providing additional services to him that we are not aware of. So I hope that no one believes that I am blaming these parents because I am in no way blaming these parents
