Loved the game! Photo finish there with the generals clashing over a field of corpses! It honestly seems like its a rite of passage for a newly-painted war machine to misfire on its first shot. They sure made up for it though! And shoutout to Onesy the Mangly Squig, that might be the worst any Mangler Squig has ever done it. As far as that DD shot goes - according to RAW, Lone Characters cannot be targeted by shooting or magic spells if they're within 3 inches of a unit containing 5 or more models, unless a) the character is of a different troop type than the unit or b) the character is closer to the shooter than the regular unit. The wizard wasn't closer but he was an infantry character trying to take cover behind cavalry. Even though the DD scatter isn't TECHNICALLY a targeted attack, I'd say "targeting" him is valid since he was a legal target - if you wanted to you could have just declared you were shooting at the wizard in the first place and it would have been entirely RAW. Rules aside though, if you pulled off that shot on my wizard out of nowhere I'd have thought it was hilarious and would have said it was alright, even if wizard was the same troop type. In fantasy Doom Divers were only d6 strength 5 hits as I recall, so sniping lone characters was their stock in trade, and a goblin in a pointy helmet and shoddy fake wings falling out of the sky and crushing an Imperial Archmage out of nowhere is exactly the kind of chaos you can expect when playing against Orcs and Goblins
Yeah it’s a thing that can happen , we both learnt something about doom divers. Not sure if they are worth the 95 points , I’ll keep them in army for now. As for the mangler Squig …. I dunno.
Nice video! An advice would be to not follow up after an enemy Gives ground if the next turn will be yours. You can restrain and then charge on your turn. For orcs that is big, because you will get choppas rule and in the case of the black orcs, also the additional attack from furious charge. Or if you are being eaten by a griffon, don't follow up so the griffon doesn't get to keep eating your boys in your turn. You take one combat round from him and you could just shoot him for example. With your bows, bolt throwers... It's something to get used to this edition. I am using a great weapon on my night goblin war boss on squig. A really cheap, almost as good as wollopas one hit wonder, but every turn!
Yeah , I failed my retraint test each time so the boys had to follow up. If I had managed to restrain , I had my level 4 with magic missiles and 2 Both Throwas right there who could have shot at the Griffon , stupid Orcs following up.
Thanks , at home I just use web cams on a boom thingy that comes with microphones etc. But these days I'm just using my iphone camera , the quality is really good and I', making shorter format reports that seem to be easier to edit and more popular. So if you have a decent phone , you can make battle reports look pretty good.
I believe you roll 3d6 for flee distance with the Manglers (rather than the usual 2d6). Rules say "When a model with this special rule moves, roll the dice to determine its maximum movement." I've seen others online interpreting it this way...though I'm not certain this is the correct interpretation.
With random movement you pursue/flee/overrun with your random move distance (3D6 in this case). The mangler would have fled further and the cowboy would have overrun farther.
Being a napoleonic fan having a mixture of arms seem best than concentrate on one type. Cavalry great to outflank and get in fast but they need softening up enemy to really work well. Big artillery to hit monsters mass units but sadly so unpredictable in fantasy. Infantry great to clog up and hold and grind, Monster types and chariots great in combat but shot up alot. My green Horde works well using this mixture, though not tried in old world rules, animosity was a bane back in old days. Agree fanatics 3 is enough
Can someone explain random movement to me? A. Do you have to move? B.if you do move, do you have to go full distance? I mean, according to rules you can wheel, so random movement sounds on paper better than normal movement, in theory evrn if you have to move you can just burn your movement wheeling I would really appreciate someone telling me about it
They fixed it in the FAQ , you roll to see how far you can move , you dont have to move the full distance. Page 176 - Random Movement Change the third sentence of the first paragraph of the rule to: ‘When a model with this special rule moves, roll the dice to determine its maximum movement.’
Whoever painted the Empire I love the way you painted the metals
Great report Keith I reckon you have hit the nail on the head with the length of battle report, way you visualise it and the commentary.
Thanks 👍
It's a griffon, not a hypogryph!!! Sorry, couldn't resist.
Great game, guys! Love your filming setup. Thanks!
Thanks for that 😆
Once I get something wrong in my brain , it's hard to change 😁
Love this format. Thanks.
Thanks 👍

Great game. And that snipe was game changing for sure 😂
Yeah poor wizard , just minding his own business 😩
Wow, that was some bad luck with the mangler squig!
Yeah it can only get better , I hope....
Great Battle Report! What is your camera and that Thing Holding it. Id love to do one on my own. Please recommend Equipment.

Yeah , got that wrong , gonna have to give the Mangler Squig another go.
Great video once again
That is a lot of cavalry
Yeah , it’s all cav , I like the army , he should get it in the table more 👍
What brand paints do you guys use for such brilliant colors?!
Usually Contrast paints and highlights these days.
Well you don't let your wizard on foot stand next to Cavalry, you jeeo him safe next tio your infantry, oh wait...
Seems like a lot of fun was had! Where are the basic knights from, Highlands?
Yeah I think so 👍
Great game.
mangler hast impacts, stopms and other d6 atacks everythign with ap. and its flee with 3d6
Thanks , it sounds good on paper , but if you keep rolling ones , it sucks.

Yeah it’s nice to have a bit of everything in an army 👍

If you guys had any a smidge more accent, it would probably be considered racist 😉
Cheers
