  • Vojta therapy is a technique based on reflex locomotion. In other words, exposure to external stimuli to cause automatic motor reactions to them. The method is aimed at forming or restoring lost correct movement skills.
From birth a person has a set of instinctive movements. They are conditioned by the correct operation of the chain, which begins with the emergence of an impulse in the central nervous system and ends with the contraction of a certain group of muscles. Violation of any link in this sequence leads to the disappearance of instinctive motor skills, and subsequently, the replacement of correct reflexes with pathological movements.
The goal of Voitha therapy is to activate instinctive movements and develop them to a level that corresponds to the age of the patient. The therapist presses on certain areas of the patient's body. This causes involuntary movements. Regular repetition of sessions leads to unblocking of natural motor skills and restoration of the CNS-muscle chain. Once the mechanism of instinctive motor function is restored, it is possible to consolidate and develop skills to the level of a healthy person.
For example, the ability to straighten the body by overcoming the force of gravity is gradually restored or acquired, the next stage is balance, then step movements, which are called phase mobility.
Vojta therapy for children is prescribed for the following diagnoses: cerebral palsy, paralysis, CNS disorders as a consequence of infectious diseases and injuries, congenital pathologies. If we talk about the latter, then the Vojta method of massage in Tula is carried out for newborns. This point is very important, because at an early age, normal reflex motor skills, which is not developed due to congenital causes, has not yet had time to be replaced by pathological movements. At a later age, these motor patterns are already fixed, and the restoration of natural motor skills is more difficult.
