My Favorite Fidget Knives from the Knife Collection.

- Perhaps one of the most important features for a modern pocket knife is to be fidget-able. Can you click it, can you flip it? In this overview of knives I have reviewed from my collection I discuss which knife locks are the best for click clacking. Are switchblades the best, or is it spyderco compression lock or Benchmade axis lock? In this video many cool knives are discussed and compared from high end autos, to interesting traditionals. You'll see blades from companies like Benchmade, Spyderco, Hawk Knives, Microtech, AKC, SOG, Protech, Sharp By Design, and Cold Steel. There's no balisongs, butterfly knives, gravity knives, but they're still pretty dope.

Potato batoning!!! Holy crap! There can be only one first.. Only one brave pioneer. You are the Neil Armstrong of potato batoning. Congratulations! I feel honored to have been witness to this milestone
😂 Agree wholeheartedly! Had to stop the video I was laughing so hard!
Yes, he's really gone up in my estimation.
The potato batoning was truly glorious.
I'm watching this in my high-school class laughing my ass off and my only excuse for the disruption is he's hitting a knife with a potato
"The buck 110 is the only fidget knife anyone needs!" (Uncle Randy) 🤷🏼♂️
I know right, like Randy Quaid in National Lampoon’s Vacation. 🤪
@@SimonRiley115 Haa! Harold and Kumar
This is true im Uncle Randy and I fuck Uncle Randys wife
I'm gonna say this just because, but the 110 is actually pretty good to fidget with if you have one that isn't overly tight. It has a good "pop" that also isn't too loud. Also, before anyone says anything about being an "old knife guy" I rotate my 110 with a ZT0456 and an Ontario RAT 1.
@@razgrizbird4562 lol.. it is kinda funny. Knives that aren't considered "fidgety" By most people have been knives I loved playing with.
This dude is like the knife communities Regular Car Reviews, and I fucking love it
Good job NOT trying to catch the falling knife. I was fidgeting with my Mini-Tempest ... dropped it ... and wound up in the ER with two grisly cuts and six stitches. Cat-like reflexes can be a problem. lol
Batoning that potato with another potato was definitely the peak of your UA-cam career
I like how you summed up my conversations about benchmade with every reasonable person who owns one.
I'm an actual Old Soul from suburban St. Paul, and although I'm not given to fidgeting with my knives (fidgeting behavior was aggressively suppressed in my day), I still dig your groovy, gnarly vids, Mr. AdvancedKnifeBro!
Stop shaking your knee young man!
I found myself batoning a carrot this weekend. Watching this video back I realise where I drew my inspiration from after I fell asleep after 6 mins of this video and only now watching the remainder. Thanks for that!
Thanks for coming back?
Batoning with potatoes, u really set the bar high with that one! Always impressed with your writing, such as "not normally impressed with non-flatulate sounds," and analytic details most of us don't think of when reviewing these things. i felt your pain when you dropped that Void XL. Nice diverse collection of fidgets. Always a pleasure the watch!
Great video. The slow-mo ninja moves at the end made me laugh out loud.
Thanks man!
Once again the fact that the top choice is anything other than the Cold Steel Espada is outrageous
Espada XL get it right
@@mistrsynistr7644 only one that matters
@@theversacecowboy632 I miss the old cold steel videos from like 10 years ago...
I was just thinking about using magnets as locks today and now I'm watching your channel for the first time and I'm blown away! Awesome knife and you're freaking hilarious!
thanks patrons. Thanks bro, of the advanced knife variety. Those are some nice knives you've got there. My favorite fidgety knives are: Buck's 298 Sirus, pro-tech's Mordax, benchmade's 943, and the spyderco Advocate. Of course the buck 107 is also a nice fidget knife I like to use when I go fishing... even though it's a fixed blade knife, because of the sheath, it's fidgetable.
Love my Mordax
Love your commentary, I'm in the process of building my own tiny corner of the knife community and just wanted to let you know it's refreshing to see someone else that doesnt do every single video in the top down view.. keep on keeping on
That was ground breaking! Batoning a potato, with a potato……you have just earned your oak belt sir.
Hahaha that portion about SOG had my rolling!
Almost lost it when you buttoned the potato. And then did it again to make sure everyone got it. Wow. Hey I also have then NettleF. Love it….and skyline is from Cincinnati (🤣 just had to be that guy)
That guy already showed up. I’ll sum it up though- whether you think so or not, people outside of Ohio associate skyline with Ohio.
@@AdvancedKnifeBro I have to special order it down here. Grew up in Indy.
As a balisong user, I have come to appreciate knifes with pleasing acoustics, such as a ring when opening.
You deserve your own sitcom.
The Factor is off my list. All those magnets will mess with my pacemaker.
That call out at the beginning was perfect. You made a subscriber out of me.
This is the first video that I have seen on this channel and wow you are funny and actually dish out some meaningful reviews. Subscribing immediately. Keep up the great work man!
Loved the batoning potatoes! Thanks for the video AKB!
*Puts on Fedora and slaps suspenders* I believe that you have overlooked the greatest fidget knife of them all! The Buck 110's glassy smooth textures and satisfying lock up make it infinitely "fidgetable" as you kids say nowadays. Plus it's useful grind and clip point make it far more useful than any of this new fangled stuff you've shown here. Yes sir, the Buck 110 is really a knife you can set your watch to! Plus taking the knife in and out of the button snap belt sheath it comes with adds another amazing layer of fidgeting! Yes sir, you really can't do any better. Nothing better than a bunch of steel, wood, and brass on your hip!
No hate to Buck 110 fans, I unironically love the knife as well!
This is a great video my man! And an awesome chance to check out some really cool knives! I'll be real honest and say that collecting and fidgeting is most of what I use my knives for haha. I'm sure my pioneer ancestors are ashamed of that, but I can't help that I just don't have to cut alot of stuff in 2022. Great video as always!
EDIT: HOLY CRAP I'M SO HAPPY YOUR SHARP BE DESIGN SURVIVED THE FALL! That's a pretty knife and it was hard to watch it tumble like that.
The Buck 112 Auto is suprisingly satisfying.
Holding my buck 110 when this video started....who hurt you!?
I laughed out loud when he batoned the potato with the other potato. Thank you for brightening my day.
Maybe I amuse easily.
You are a real knife badass doing the dual otf and compression lock knives. They should get you an award
Potato batoning. This man is an innovator.
The Founding Fathers would be turnin' in their graves! If parsnip batonning was good enough fer them, it's good enough fer you!
I just stumbled on this channel, im 4 minutes in, and he's my new favorite lol
Proud member of the Slipjoint Half-stop Fidget crew. 💪 It doesn’t have the accessibility of a rapid-fire auto or finely tuned manual, but it provides plenty of enjoyable sensory feedback in its own unique way.
I just recently discovered the fidgetability of a good backlock, so I figure the half stop slip joint is my next logical step.
Great work. At your age, to incorporate this much knowledge in such a humorous manner, shows a lot of talent. You’re a winner-keep up the great work. You’ll make a ton, eventually. Guaranteed.
Tell me why that void is worth it?
Its a fully custom knife. Low quantity, only one in this configuration.. I mean that's how custom knives work?
Tell me you watch regular car reviews! Your delivery and tangents are just so funny (and yeah, are in the same spirit as his).
I love your videos bro. Always get a good laugh, as well as solid info. Hope you and the family are all keeping well man!!!
This was a long vid, especially without featuring Zima, which is now owned by GSM. 🤣
GSM would buy zima
It's really the humor that keeps me watching.
1:40 good example.
You’re the funniest knife guy on UA-cam! Thanks for the entertainment!
Idk how I’ve never found this account before. You’re a knife guy who cracks jokes and I love those people.
Awesome sense of humor man, instant follow
Thanks for including the metric measurements!
Missed out on the in-stock Factor drop earlier today because of Shopify's dumb invalid shipping address error, but a new AKB video helps make things a little less sad.
Guess I'll go fidget with my Opinel or something.
Nothing like twirling that ring on the Opinel to soothe the pain of loss.
I’m new to the knife collecting game and have pushed the boundaries of social decorum with my fidgeting. I’m winning though; my wife and kids have learned to tune it out. - Though not my favorite, my first Cold Steel, the Air Lite, surprised me with how fun it is to fidget with. (🏆 Sage 5 LW)
The pain of discontinued cold steels is for reals. Thirsting for a broken skull, still kicking myself for not getting it when I saw one on sale.
I think of not as "fidget factor" but as "deployment ease". Back when I did real work I didn't always have a consistent angle or position and a knife that could be opened easily or in different ways actually was an advantage.
Started exclusively carrying wave openers for this reason. Cold steels get surprisingly easy to close once you use them for a bit
What's real work? I mean, I did warehouse work, and handled bulk amounts of flooring for a while. I also have inspected X-ray machines. Which one is real? Both involve knives and measuring tape consistently.
1:57 the potato baton! May be my favorite thing ever
Your air-stabbing and fidget techniques are impressively advanced. Video had me cracking up. Great one
@ the 18 minute mark, that looks like Zakk Wylde's signature guitar paint scheme ~ love it
SWEET!
I might have to give front flippers a chance:)
The Factor looks great.. Magnets!? WOW!
You make me feel proud to be a Missourian
i love that this video exists, you are a gentleman and a knife bro
I hear you on slip joints. My most fidgeted knives by far are lock backs. Spyderco Native 5 made me realize I’d rather fidget with a lock back than a compression lock or axis lock 🤷🏻♂️
I've got Ivan's Nettle, but it's a fixed blade. Thanks for pointing out the folder.
First time watching your channel, pretty entertaining
Agreed. Run dem Spydercos dry. Just break in hard, and rough. Once they finally do give in, that smoothness is all the more satisfying.
Hey, I went to a "Lynn & The Meatboots" concert last weekend. Concert was beefy with a searing finish that sealed in the juicy goodness.🤣
For me, the Hoback Sumo will always be the king of fidget knives. I didn't know what I was missing until I had one.
I love your style of video. Thank you for the entertainment
I came for the flashlight videos but stayed for the knives. Your wit is sharp and videography skills are on point. Maybe you'd consider doing flashlight videos again but omit the boring tedious time consuming crap and give us beamshots and your thoughts, just a thought. Keep it up bro!
SOG XR Terminus is my favorite fidget knife. The D2 steel version is just as fidgety as the expensive steels. XR is the name of the lock.
Batoning potatoes 🤣💥👍yeeeeeesss - and that drop was great - done it many times myself - great vid man
Your writing is always very well done and hilarious
Also, a couple one handed slipjoints I find super fun to fidget with is the Spyderco lil native and UKPK. The lil native is so fun and crisp but no half stop. UKPK has a nice half stop, but it's a lot mushier :(
Kizer Towser K is also a wonderful underrated budget drop shut fidget machine
i love all you're knives
The Factor is such a cool knife and Bryan is such a rad dude.
Ahh, the stump. I miss that stump and bamboo.
Great video, love what you do and your take on the gear!
That beautifully strange Caribbean just won’t die.
That new kid on the block has the right stuff. I like the way the blade is hanging using magnets. Hangin' tough indeed.
Someone once told me, after I finished a rant about something rather tedious: “maybe you should concentrate on fixing your own problems before solving the world’s problems.” Touché, my friend, touché.
First video I’ve watched on your channel. You were on my feed. You sir. Sound like a smart ass!! My type of people. Subscribing!
Moment of silence and respect for the steel that smacked "the fucking bricks right under the camera." My soul fell with the blade..
“Ergos” 😂 The fact you didn’t use that term seriously and joked about it had me sub. This is way better than than that channel who’s name rhymes with Chest Ham CDE.
Glad you are covering the important Potato Batoning performance.
Makers should be transparent and not hinder the dissemination of information about their expensive Instagram pocket jewellery. I'd add the Civivi McKenna and Baby Banter to the fidget friendly knives list.
Absolutely agreed!
Fking LOVE my McKenna
Yeah you wouldn't want you expensive knife to be all Rickity
Awesome video, brother 👍
Great video!
You were right the first time. They are kind of “toys”. If you can have fun with it, it’s a toy.
Nothing wrong with that no judgement. I’m a southpaw so I’m a total Spyderco fanboy.
They’re toys, shouldn’t have waffled. Or pocket jewelry
Recon I am a big SPYDERCO fan (for decades). Am also a lefty and discovered Benchmade axis locks years ago. Have 2 710s and an old Rukus large auto (no longer made). My favorite large SPYDERCO is a lefty liner lock that I snapped up the minute I saw it. Have wanted a Chris Reeve for years ,but they are a little out of my price range. Maybe someday.
@@bobstark4020 I’ve been EDC’n a Victorinox GAK for my job EMS transport. Everything I need nothing I don’t. And left hand liner lock. Plus affordable.
Interesting. Supposedly victorinox makes good knives.
Finicky and Sensitive.....CoNFiRmEd LOL......you hooked me in the first couple of seconds!! I expect maximum sarcasm and dark humor on this one......
Empedc Nymble is my top fidget-y knife. Love your vids man! Cheers.
Even though I often feel personally attacked while watching your videos, you're still the best and I aspire to be as good at being a smartass as you are. Seriously Bro, you're the best there is at this silly game.
I dunno. Pete @ Cedric and Ada is pretty close.
I just pre-ordered the Factor. 🙌
Insane food prep skills!
I love Winter Blade Co. So creative!
Dropping expensive knives! He's just like us!
Thanks for your videos.. sorry about your Void. We all know that feeling. I bang up my knives all the time getting out of the car and forgetting my knife is on my lap.
Great video. Easy sub! Makes me really want to make a video on my favorite edc knife which also happens to be my favorite fidget knife I own? Cheers!
the soaking bit got me, holy balls you are hilarious Bro
I was eating Skyline chili when i was watching this. Stop spying on me lol. Awesome videos man
I love how you love the Benchmade Fact. When you get it in your hands you fall in love with it and see how great of a design it really is. I have the fully blacked out version. It’s my edc/self defense knife. I take it with me every time I go out the door. I like the Bugout (Smokey Mountain Knife Works exclusive with Olive Drap and blacked out M4 blade) for cutting tasks around the house more but the Fact is a longer and more penetrative blade for self defense. The Fact is so slim and lightweight. The action is even better when you loosen the pivot a little and oil it, also when you take an a Omega spring. I’m so happy Benchmade sent you the Fact a few years ago.
Thanks for the video I always look forward to them !!!
Unless you are the kind of person who just enjoys flicking - I'm sorry, deploying - that one blade repeatedly like a brooding B-movie psycho (I don't judge), the best fidget knives are slipjoints. The drama! The suspense! Can I get that blade back without losing a digit by employing exactly the right pressure? You really have to know your knife.
In fact, I'll go further. The best fidget knife is a multi-blade slipjoint with finger nicks that are just slightly too small/too shallow/too far back. Try the decathlon of fidgeting!
I've had a couple omega springs break. It's not a real issue though. Knife is still usable with one spring. You can even block the lock with a stick behind the axis lock and use it without springs if needed. Aftermarket springs can be had for less than mailing your knife back to Benchmade. I made one using music wire rolled around a pen once.
@@SimonRiley115 I've been around long enough to find $150 isn't really getting you a high end US made knife anywhere. I don't even really like Benchmade, but i still like my g10 940.
I was the "mine have never broken" guy, right up until it happened...then broke a couple more. Now I have a couple spares on hand. IMO, the Hogue springs are vastly superior to Benchmades. In fact, I think Wolf makes the Hogue springs and those folks know springs. FWIW
@@lenzielenski3276 totally agree. I do think the stock Benchmade springs would probably last decades if we could keep ourselves from fidgeting. That's most of the fun though :)
@@SimonRiley115 would you feel better if it was a $1000 custom shop job?
You really didn't have to bring CRT's into this...
I literally said “DOHHHHH!” When you dropped the Void!
Great show! You're videos really help me sleep. Something to do with your sweet dulcet tones and you're subtle cries for help. It's like magic! My girlfriend says I fart and giggle in my sleep now. I'm also finding knives in bed with me in the morning for some reason... Did I mention I bought a two-handed axe even though I live in a condo?
The scissors on the Victorinox SD classic is my all time favorite fidget (and my always carry knife)
My EDC knife is a LionSteel Myto Frame Lock Knife with the M390 steel blade, and It's pretty great for fidgeting with imo.
Did you baton potatoes? That is weirdly hilarious to me. I think that was weird enough to brighten up my day, a little bit. I am subscribing now.
i have a Crooked River Mini and that is al the knife i need.
I felt it when you dropped that Void XL, I've dropped 2 of my Arius, died a little but each time. Looks like you need to get your hands on a Nymble if you like to fidget
My fav grown mans toy is my Hogue Deka. I got the reverse-tanto-dual-grind-spacey-looking. Great EDC too.
OTFs are illegal here sadly. Would love to handle one though. Do the actually cut stuff or are they just for stabbing?
The answer is "it depends". If you base the answer on the fact that 90% of the Microtechs I see are all double edged, I'd say "stabby" is by design. However, if you look around a bit you can find single edged models that can be use for every day cutting tasks. I wouldn't baton with one...but them I'm not an Advanced Knife Bro.
I have a double edge microtech I just got. Its definitely for cutting as well as stabbing lol. Seriously. With a double edge you get twice the amount of cutting aha. Seriously I do use mine to cut stuff
Yes, they can be used as regular edc. My last one was a Microtech UTX85 single edge. In that configuration they are more useful as you can ride the spine to choke up or guide a precision cut at the tip. Most states that restrict them do so for CARRY, doesn't mean you can't use them at home or keep them in a collection. Try a Lightning, they're about $40 and will let you see if they are for you. Just don't expect a rock solid lockup. That doesn't exist in OTF world.
Only one I liked from this was the factor !! Need one.
Watching you baton with a potato makes me realize I have not properly tested the true limits of my knives.
