The clay pot with the lid is a classic Römertopf (Roman pot). It was a big trend in the 1970s on. You baked things in it-chicken, pot roast, bread. There are whole books of Römertopf recipes. The principle is similar to that of a slow cooker except in the oven.
Plus it keeps it moist.
Didn't you have to soak it in water before you put it in the oven? I think my mom had one and made roast in it. Definitely 70s.
We just called it a clay baker and you do have to soak it in water for about an hour or more. Great for a whole chicken, or meatloaf.
Last summer my husband found one in our yard, brand new looking with the book in it and all!😳 No idea where it came from! 🤷♀️ I still have it.😂 When life gives you a clay baker, roast a chicken, right? 🤣
Römertopf is correct. Kudos to you that you remembered that. I would not have been able to come up with the term.
I can’t imagine anyone not loving you and Jesse. You guys have found your way and made such a bright spot in the world. Thanks for sharing your spark with the rest of us. ❤
🥰 Thanks Suzy!
I agree!! I do a lot of baking and I always have one of Laura and Jesse ‘s videos keeping me company. They are very chill and pleasant to listen to 😊 I never gave thrifting much thought, but I bought my first purchase (a glass cake plate on a pedestal) last week and I had such a good time…can’t wait to go again! A big thank you Laura and Jesse!! 🥰
was going to come and say the same thing. the end bits were fun.
Super fun video, I seriously laughed out loud at the party lights. 😅
A nice little thing my mom taught me was to buy all the beautiful one off vintage pretty plates and when you go to somebody’s house, you bring them a goody on it and let them keep the plate as a gift. She had someone invite her over for dinner once a week because they wanted the full set of something lol
What a neat idea!! 😄 😆
I love this idea!
Hitting EVERY goodwill?…..YES PLEASE!!!!!!!
Filmed episode 1 this week!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes!!!!
Love having Jessie on your videos. He is hilarious! He’s warming up to being on camera. You find such neat things and I learn so much from you. Thanks.
I just choked on my ice tea when Jesse changed his display to party mode! I've always loved your videos but I'm truly loving the two of you together!! What an incredible team you are. Who doesn't love the guy who says "oh, yeah, we're getting these plates, too!!"
Clay piece is a romertopf used for baking.
Gotta love Jesse's sense of decorating whimsy!❤❤❤
I think you and Jesse should have a stage-off every week! Totally made me giggle. He sounded so proud of himself.
🤣 he really was!
Yes yes yes!!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Loved this fun video!!
An hour and 20 minutes of thrifting?! Happy Friday to me! Thanks Laura ❤
We took it next level this last weekend!! 🙌
Lovin the Laura and Jesse show! Jesse's a natural on camera.
Jessie’s lamp design table was giving me Jerry Garcia/Guru vibes. And how sweet is it that he included a drawing of the two of you! Mission accomplished, way to go Jesse!
that glass bowl would look so pretty with a string of lights inside. It would highlight the texture of the glass.
I love that idea! I have some super tiny ones I use at Christmas so I’ll have to try them in it ✨
@@leftcoastrevivals use battery operated fairy lights!
The cast iron pan with 7 half circles and a handle is for making abelskyvers, a pastry that you cook stove top and rotate the dough as it cooks. A hollow pastry ball forms, which you eat with jam and butter. Yumm!
Eat aebleskivers with powdered sugar. You can also cook them with an apple or walnut in the center.
Never hoid of em..
My mother was from Denmark, we made these every Christmas & served with lingonberry jam she had shipped from Denmark from her sister. She made the batter with buttermilk. They are so yummy! I remember not being able to lift the pan as a kid. Nice memory.
Ladies, you ALL deserve someone who loves you like Jessie loves Laura. Don't settle.
Yessss!!!!! And don’t friend zone amazing men who can be your husband and best friend 🥰
@@leftcoastrevivals yes!! I’m married to my 8th grade boyfriend for 25 years now. Many times I asked myself, “is he too laid back”? No ma’am, he was just perfect and I see the same in you and Jessie. You and I are very similar personalities and my husband is similar to yours. It works! Don’t pass up the good ones, ladies 💙
My mantra after my divorce, raising a son as a single mom, was "I would rather be alone for the rest of my life than to be with someone who makes me feel any less than cherished." I stuck to that and I've been with the love of my life for 23 years now.
Never has a 2 hour thrift marathon passed by so quickly and entertainingly! I didn't even know I was in for such a wonderful ride. So much fun! And yes, I was going to chime in on "Arthur, not Albert." Thank you so much!
Yes! Every Goodwill series will be awesome!!
It’s happening 😆
I love it when you two go thrifting together. You play off each other so well. Definitely, a match made in heaven! More, more, more! ~Terri 😊
😄 We have way too much fun together 🤣 Thanks for hanging with us! More to come for sure!
How da like it, more, more more. They're fun to watch indeed.
Yes to anything Johnny Was! Love that brand and for $4 it's a steal!
The music figurine from Japan is not German related. It was Tevye from the movie Fiddler On The Roof. He is standing by a milk can ( he was a dairy farmer ) and singing the song "If I Were a Rich Man". The movie was from the 70's and I believe that is when the figurine was dated.
I was coming here to say this. 😂😂😂
Me too!
The West German terracotta item is called a Roemertopf. It is used in the ofen for roasting meats. The one you found is from the 1960s , my mum had one back then when we lived in Germany. Hard to keep clean as it is a kinda porous material.
A Friday treat! A new Laura video and Jesse's here too!
Love these extended Laura and Jesse videos; so cosy, fun and relaxed ❤ ❤❤
The Romatop cooking vessel is from West Germany and I used to use it. I would put a 3 lb roast inside drowning in wine and cook it in in the oven for 3 hours. It would come out so tender oh the first step is to immerse the cooking vessel in water until it's soaking wet
When thrifting and superb styling morph into love, laughter and family. That's what makes me come back to your videos again and again. X
A crystal decanter is a great way to 'display' your mouthwash! Looks like a magical potion bottle and so much more aesthetic than the plastic bottles ♡
Oh that is wonderful idea. Thanks
Just be careful if it’s leaded crystal. Apparently we shouldn’t be storing liquids like alcohol in them for long periods since the lead can leach in over time.
came to point out the lead
@@michellemorales oh I did not know that . Thank you
I just did this when I finally found the perfect decanter for the bathroom. I didn't want it to be too heavy and certainly not lead crystal, but not a cheap looking Arcoroc one, either. When my son saw it he commented that it made the bathroom look so tidy and fancy. $5 well spent. (well 50 Norwegian kroners.. but same same)
Laura you are showing your youth. Not knowing Happy Days and thinking the Fonz was on Grease. I officially feel ancient.
Mt. Fuji plates are gorgeous ❤❤❤
They’re my favorite finds all weekend 😄
@@leftcoastrevivals I was really surprised you didn’t say anything about the Lion planter at 36:43!! My mom and I think of you every time we’re thrifting and we come across “critters” 😉
Every time I watch your videos I have a deep admiration and envy for your thrift stores. Ours keep so much back to list online that the shelves are full of dollar tree and broken items. Thanks for bringing Jesse along with you, he brings a calm energy and humor with him.
The name of that clay thing is Römertopf. I have one and I LOVE it!
You drench the thing in water for half an hour, put your veggies and meat/fish in it, and in the oven that goes. No grease added.
You can see what you can cook in it... actually on it!
It's best for meats that tend to be a bit dry, like turkey. Yours is not very big, but it's a nice starting point to try ou stuff
This was awesome!!!! I LOVE IT WHEN YOU AND JESSE thrift together
One of your best episodes, so much fun to watch! We all wish we had a Jesse to thrift with.
Jesse knew he was defeated on this challenge from the get go. So….he went rogue.
You two are so great together, Jessie is so funny. Love the challenge, party mode wins!
Laura, I look forward to your video post!! They are a blast. So happy that you slowed down your camera work. I felt like I was jogging through a couple of the recent videos. Thanks and keep shining your light.
Now I REALLY can't wait to see the Bomb Shelter!
I've been waiting so patiently! 😆
The clear candle holders with the lavender hue likely were in a window and the sun reacts with them and over time makes the lavender hue
Yes, they looked like manganese or neodymium glass 🕯️ 🕯️
It was such a fun thrifting trip with you and Jesse. Jesse really does have some unusual taste in things. I wonder what your house would look like if he got to pick everything for it.😁
I'm really admiring all the jewelry you're wearing. Looks so pretty!❤
Those Mount Fuji plates are so beautiful!
Jesse is definitely a trend setter! Love your friends quirky art!
Thank you for the great thrifting adventure!
Have a great weekend!
😽💕
Wow! You found some amazing items! I love the mt. Fuji plates. Can't wait for your week long Goodwill challenge! Also, the thrift stores in your area are truly astounding!
We need more Laura Jesse design challenges! That was epic!!!
I think your husband is great to accept your challenge and I also think it’s great that you can compliment one another’s style. Fun video for sure.
Your table settings are stunning and so inspiring!💕💕
Yes, this one was extra AMAZING!!!!
Jesses interpretation of staging is absolutely hilarious. Yours was beautiful and his was completely entertaining. Thanks for the laughs.
I love his sentimental choices! He is an awesome husband!
Laura, copper pot with wooden knob is a Grease Pot. Back in the day you would reuse your grease or Lard.. also bacon drippings were reused. Hope that helps!
I still do. :)
2 hours shopping with Laura & Jessie is enjoyable. Time went by so fast. LUVED it. Stay happy.
I love your videos with Jessie. You two are so fun. Love the relationship you have. Great finds.
49:48 I can’t help but see a mustache and an open mouth with that little lamp, lol. I love the sunflower lamp! Great video! Thank you for sharing! Edit- oh my gosh, Jesse killed it with his vignette, ha ha! I was laughing so hard, my grandson asked me if I was okay, lol. 😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Lol I’m glad I wasn’t the only one! 😂
I saw a Highland cow with those long bangs! 😂
Really enjoy you guys banter , it works well. Great couple
I think the music figurine was the guy in the musical the fiddler on the roof.
Yep, I bet it played “If I Were a Rich Man”.
Oh! What a great observation!
I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the two of you together❣️🥰❣️
Thanks for sharing your magical energy with us🪄⚡️❣️
Love watching you guys pick together!
That was SO MUCH FUN!! I loved going thrifting with you two!! Thank you for taking us all along!! 💕
You two are so great together! Jessie, I love everything about you're design!! You really thought of everything!❤❤❤
Laura, u and Tiffany on Thrifting Vegas are my absolute favorites ❤
So happy love it when You two shop together, and I definitely love the long videos too!Have a beautiful weekend y’all😊🌸😊🌸The design challenge was awesome.😊
I don't know which I like more, the finds you discover or listening to you guys banter back and forth. Funny!
The german terra cotta piece is actually called a Romertopf which you can use to cook a whole chicken in. It roasts it in the clay and makes an amazing meal. We use ours all the time. Just be sure to soak it in water for about 30 minutes before use. It keeps the clay from cracking and keeps the interior sealed and moist. You can bake bread in it as well.
Your styling at the end is fabulous as always!
It took me three sittings to finish this video--thanks!!!!!! Love also that your hubs is involved and enjoys the thrifting and staging as much as you do. Keep these coming!!!!!
The clay pot from Germany is called Römertopf( Roman pot). It is used for cooking meat, fish, vegetables... in the oven. Before usage the pot has to be watered. When heated steam will build up and cook the food.
This video was just too much fun! More, more, more please!
You both make me smile, laugh. Love watching your treasure hunts and how you style.
Party mode really did put Jesse over the top. Great job!
Enjoy watching you two have fun together
Very envious about your excellent BIG Goodwills! 😍😍😍
“He” needs his own show.
😂
“He” is adorable!
OMG😂 I don’t know which part I loved more - your conversation about the Fonz or Jesse’s lamp display! More his-and-hers display competitions in future episodes, please!💜👏🏻🤣
you two are really quite the pair, always enjoy see you together. funny how husbands start out off camera, then become part of the entertainment as their participation emerges.
you compliment easily other!
I love your style & your thrifting & styling videos. You & Jesse are adorbs!! Thanks, Laura.
yoo woo...another thrifting video!! Love it!
The cat tail lamp ❤
I really enjoy your picks, you have insight. People will buy what is "fashionable and trending", what goes with their decor and things they can use.
It doesn't always have to be old or a well known mark to be profitable.
Oh my gosh, I love you guys! Jesse's room! I can't stop smiling.
Always look forward after a long day of work to watch your Friday videos!! I’d love to see a jewelry collection video, I can only imagine all the beautiful pieces you have! I’m also always inspired by your finds when I go out thrifting or antiquing! 🫶🏼
I'm just LOVING you guys! Jessie ,you are HILARIOUS!!!
Hi Laura- the Terracotta baker is called a Römertopf and you actually soak it in water for 30 minutes prior to baking. The moisture helps steam your food. Chicken is fabulous cooked this way. Tender and juicy
Love you guys shopping together!♥️
Jesse, you nailed the insurance agency decor. Said it to myself as you said it out loud!
The cast iron pan you had in your hand that you thought was for eggs is actually an able skeever pan. It's to make Scandinavian I believe it's Scandinavian pancakes
Yes they come out like tennis balls. Takes awhile to master
Oh…. They made octopus in batter in something similar in Japan too and turned them constantly with a wooden stick to keep from burning. I might have to get one now and try new things in them. I thought they were for eggs and didn’t need another egg cooker. Are the Scandinavian ones almost like a donut hole but pancake mixture?
The Japanese ones are called takoyaki 🍢
@@leftcoastrevivals The Scandinavian cast iron skillet, you drop your batter in and the pancakes come out like fluffy balls,, they are just the right size and then u dust with icing sugar, and have them with jam or chocolate. A Danish friend introduced them to me,, and they were delish.
@@charmainesaldanha4226what you describe is not typical Scandinavian but more Dutch. Our Scandinavian ones are flat( plättar)not puffy. But as a Belgian resident nowadays, I see the ones you describe a lot down here and in NL and they are called " poeffertjes".
That clay covered baker is called a romertopff. It's good for baking with moist heat. It is soaked in water before it's used. Very popular in the late 70's.
This was so much fun. Thanks for taking us with you.😊❤
Yes, I agree with everyone else. You and Jesse are a perfect pair! I love how your videos flow and the tones and volumes of your voices are so smooth and peaceful.
I love all your videos but these hometown pickings always hits for me. Love em!
You two are so much fun to watch! Best video ever!
Love the way you film.Feel right there with you.❤
Yes! Every Goodwill in your area for a week!
Love it, you and Jesse make thrifting fun. Thanks for sharing.
Every Goodwill - YES PLEASE
Omg so cute. I love this I love watching you two together.
You two are so fun! Makes me want to go shopping!
Oh my goodness, Jesse's set up has me rolling!!! I think you two are awesome people and I so enjoy watching your videos.

I love seeing you both thrift together ❤️
You are both very entertaining.
Your videos are not only educational but also so much fun! The two of you are so great together! And Jessie's party mood... well that was just simply epic. :)
Loved the longer thrifting. So much fun to watch. Love everything you got. What great deals.
Just wanted to say
