I was so surprised to see the thumbnail of these two people together!
Arjen finds the time for absolutely everyone. He and Floor are being such great ambassadors for The Netherlands! Elizabeth, you know where you need to turn next!
A Floor tea-time would be amazing.
@@fnglert yes!
I agree :)
They've tried already and got no response, though that was like a year ago now.
Me, too! She's followed the trail to Arjen's door. It seemed like only a matter of time but, at the same time, I was worried it would never happen! I surely didn't expect an interview. I thought maybe she'd discuss a video. So YAY!
Arjen found Marcella Bovio when for his Ayreon The Human Equation album he put out a 'casting call' looking for a new talent that would fit in the character he had in mind. Marcella responded from Mexico, Arjen was very enthousiastic about her voice. So he let her come over to his studio in the Netherlands and the rest is history. In fact she never left the Netherlands again.
Marcela is incredible :D
Arjen is a pure musical genius, and Ayreon is the ultimate prog rock/metal supergroup. Essentially the Avengers of progressive metal.
group? You're looking at the "group".
@@Ehrgeiz33 At this point, Jeroen (Goosens), Joost (van den Broek) and Ed (Warby) are part of the group as well
You keep getting closer to interviewing Floor by degrees, would LOVE to be a fly on the wall for your excitement when that day hopefully comes for you 🥰
squeeeee!
This is getting closer! I just saw a photo of Floor and Arjen together and he was towering over her!! He’s like 6’ 8” or 203cm. 😳
Make this happen...
@@darkaether2798 I've stood next to him after 2003 Star one concert (little meet and greet after)... I actually had to look up, and I'm 6' 4" (and true, he did tower above all there I first thought he was holding a really tiny guitar on stage.....
Im dying to see Liz interviewing Floor.
How is this real? At this point I'm waiting for Dio to come down from heaven and have a tea time with Elizabeth!
I think that's really the next step at this point.
Exactly what I thought! This one will be amazing and hope lots to come.
You meant ascend from hell as the infernal overlord he is right now.
Get out of my head! 😅
Stay tuned. Wouldn't surprise me 😁 🤘🏼
Wow these two on screen together is like positive musical energy overload.
Can't wait, Arjen is a genius and a very warm, humble person.
Loved the teaser! Arjen is an incredible person, seems like you two had a great time together
Totally. I think we giggled and laughed for the entire 2 hours!
@@TheCharismaticVoice he said to me that it is possible in 2023 to organize some live shows in Netherlands...are you willing to participate...🥰
OMG... Elizabeth in Ayreon.. YESSSSS
@@TheCharismaticVoice ua-cam.com/video/pEifyeijN5A/v-deo.html
Ronnie James Dios last show!He really left on top!He was 67 years old in this clip and sang better than most other much younger hard rock-singers even at this age!Dearly missed.
@@TheCharismaticVoiceplease come onstage with Arjen next time - he promised to make something outstanding live in 2025
Almost 2 hours of interviewing that didn`t get boring for a second.... That by itself is amazing =)
Thank you, Martin! The beauty of a tea time is that it's just a conversation!
@@TheCharismaticVoice I've been wondeeing if the artists like this kind of stuff more than a usual interviews too. At least it's something different for a change.
Thank you Elizabeth. And Arjen too. Was fun to watch.
I watched it twice! Crikey!
agreed, plus for an almost 2 hour interview to reach almost 50k now, you (and Arjen!!) must be doing something right :-) kind regards!
This warms my heart so so much, and that's just from the trailer! You are two of the most humble and charismatic (well, it's in the name after all ^^) people on this planet. I'm so glad this interview is a thing!
Omg there's already a preview!? First time in over 15 years I've actually used the Reminder feature on UA-cam!
... me too 😁 looking forward to this!!
Arjen is such a sweetheart. He really does respond to all comments and messages. A kind and giving human. Thanks for snagging this interview.
He is definitely one of my biggest inspirations, not just as a musician, but as a creative person who is so kind and thoughtful. If I can be both artistically adventurous and unique, while also being kind, enthusiastic, and compassionate the way Arjen is, I feel I will have done something good with my life.
I'm calling it: we'll have Elizabeth on one of his next works!
I hope so!
@@razzledazzleist that would be so cool.
I am praying to that
I think it´s inevitable. :D
I would love it, I asked Elizabeth in one of the chats if she would be interested. She definitely was.
Gosh, this is by far the most interesting, heart warming, honest and profound interview between two musicians that I have ever heard! This really made my day (eh...my evening)!!!!
No Arjen, I agree. Dutch is a ridiculous language!
I do love the amount of time Arjen puts into contacting the audience - commenting on youtube, reacting to fanmail. What a stand-up guy.
My personal hero in all of music.
"The meaning of life is to give life meaning."
I absolutely love this man. I used to run a Facebook page about progressive metal called progressive power. He would always comment and say the nicest things. What a wonderful human being and amazing talent
Hi Elizabeth ! I'm so glad you found out about Arjen ! His whole discography is basically a huge box of ear candy. It just keeps on giving ! And it will get you to discover many great singers ! I first heard Devin Townsend's voice in an Ayreon album, for example. The Electric Castle is still my personal favourite, I think. Isis and Osiris into Amazing Flight is pure gold.
Another great thing about living here in The Netherlands is that we are full of amazing musicians like you Arjen :) And Floor and Simone and Anneke and Sharon the list goes on and on. Really lovely interview!
Netherlands and Wales..... 2 of the best countries for gracing our ears with music 😍🙏🏼
This tea time interview will be one hell of a challenge to compete with.
You and Arjen - different backgrounds - different everything - you were just excellent to each other...
This was great.
Period.
One of my most looked-forward-to-est of interviews. Arjen brings so much joy not only through his music, but through his interactions around the music.
For real. I can't believe it took me until like 3 years ago to discover his work. I'm such a huge fan now, and can't wait for the new album!
Arjen and Elizabeth discussing Dio as their fav singer. This is beautiful.
when they mentioned very early Dio, I immediately thought of Elf "Carolina County Ball" ua-cam.com/video/HsZbBaduJOU/v-deo.html
This was an awesome interview, thank u so much Arjen and Elizabeth! 🥰🙏🤘😎
We need one of these with you & Floor!! I'm sure she would be up for it!! 😁
Arjen has worked with Floor, so they have a connection. Maybe that helps. 😁🙏
@@cherrycake1 I know she has^^ Yeah I think there's a good chance.
I would die! 😃😃
Floor is active on youtube. I'm sure she'll be up for it.
@@bslsk.o The first or the second Floor?
How delightful to see you do an interview with the master of Metal Opera. I have been a fan of Arjen's work for decades. Ever since I heard him first play in the band 'Vengeance' (and even in 'Bodine' before that) up until the projects he's doing now. I even met the guy a couple of times and he is such a gentle, kind, humble and warm person even though he's not too comfortable around people. I was even lucky to be chosen to participate in a music video for Star One's title track of the last album (Victims Of The Modern Age), playing 'the Metal Guy' and, while Arjen was not intending to be present at the shoot, he did turn up when it was my (and the clockwork guy's) time to shoot our parts of the video. Certainly one of the best memories I have. Ayreon's song 'Day 11 - Love' (from 'The Human Equation') was the first song that really made my eyes water. Up until this day I still cannot sing along with this song without getting a lump in my throat. Really looking forward to this, and I do agree with him... I am from the Netherlands myself and Dutch really is a terrible language. 😂
Elizabeth once again bringing us another fantastic interview and with the man himself no less! Love both you and Arjen Elizabeth keep up the amazing work!
Arjen is one of my favorite musicians of all time, let alone still producing music. Him discussing the tone in 01011001 shifting due to depression from his anosmia means I'm going to have to listen to it again through that lens. One of my favorite Aryeon albums for sure.
I was going to say that 01 is my favorite album but maybe it's just because it was my introduction to Ayreon and all the other Arjen projects (Ambeon, Guilt Machine, Star One, the first album by Stream of Passion, The Gentle Storm and of course his solo stuff)
Arjen is a genius, same as Steven Wilson. The only difference, their humanity. Arjen is the most nice person in the business!
Among all the attributes Arjen has, his ability to listen to the question being asked without talking over or interrupting is impressive. It is a pointer to his interest and connection that he brings to his relationships. Seems very genuine and honest and I listened to every word. Inspiring
It's hard nowadays to find good artists interviews. This one is an absolute bliss. Time to think, time to speak, time to connect. Gives a different depth on an artist works. I'm so grateful to have access to these on UA-cam. Thank you :)
So beautiful this As a old Dutchman and a fan from Arjen I love this intervieuw He is such an nice and humble man Great intervieuw Thank you Elizabeth
I'm being 100% honest, I have a hard time thinking of a video I have ever been more excited for!!
I would imagine the documentary "Get Back" was HEAVENLY for Arjen :D. Was for me too, it brought me to tears to SEE a band that was very important in my childhood (along with Santana) in the mid and late 60's.
This was a real score Elizabeth, I KNEW you guys would get along very well.
I was a HUGE fan of "Bodine" _Three Times Running_ album (1983), then fast forward to 1998 reading a magazine called "Progressions" and this guy with the odd name is talking about his album "Into the Electric Castle", and he looked very familiar . . . I look through my Lp collection and pulled out the Bodine album, and on the back was a very young Arjen Lucassen (as "Iron Anthony")! And that is how I 1st "read" about "Ayreon", and wouldn't hear them until "The Universal Migrator Part I: The Dream Sequencer" and Part II (2000).
There will be a point where you will hear/see Dio and Rainbow's "Catch the Rainbow" Live in Munich 1977. I'm right there with Arjen when 1st hearing Deep Purple, and then Ritchie Blackmore creating "Rainbow" and became immersed into their music.
Arjen talking about GENTLE GIANT and the crazy vocal harmonies they have . . . Elizabeth, you'll freakout, and their odd-tempos. I mean tracks like "So Sincere" or many others that your fans will HIGHLY suggest.
If Arjen were so kind to write a part for you, as he said; "Something Majestic!", I can imagine having Floor Jansen and Simone Simons doing point/counterpoint and Anneke van Giersbergen singing over it all . . . . awww man.
I KNEW by the end, Arjen would talk about RUSH or its members, and seeing "Hemispheres" hanging in the background warms my heart :). The only thing I differ from Arjen, but I hear it often, I'm a fanboy (almost), I enjoy every "era" of the band, maybe 2 or 3 "later" albums that are my least favorites, but may have REALLY awesome tracks. But as far as Geddy's voice, it FIT the band, it fit _around_ the music, and then the music fit around it as it matured in the later years.
I also agree with Arjen - I have 2 dear friends I made that do Reaction videos, I relate with them 1st because they are SOO gracious with their fans (like Arjen) and REALLY get into the music, but they have missed out on SOO much music, even though the husband and me are kindred spirits in Jazz/Fusion, Metal, Shredders and Technical/Complex Metal, and the wife in my more melancholic, alternative and "other" musics. But many of us (fans) have bought them soo many CD's of bands/musicians they MUST hear - they are listening to all these bands or albums WE know of, with fresh/virgin ears. If its AOR Rock, Metal, Progressive Rock/Prog Metal, Fusion and more - WE are all re-living those "moments" when we were 1st hearing these albums we know so well, again, as if it were OUR 1st time. So ALL of us have soo many rabbit holes to share with Elizabeth as she soaks it all up.
Arjen is a great guy, he may demand a lot out of his musicians (as revealed here), but he is a humble guy. He just wants us to enjoy his music however way we can do that. I'm a collector, so I have to have the physical product because I'm into the Art, the lyrics and "package deal". When it comes to his music, I do my best to get the "Special Editions" when I can.
Great insight in all he does Elizabeth. That was an excellent interview.
The Charismatic Voice (Elizabeth) introduced me to the wonderful compositions of Arjen Lucassen, and I am forever grateful! Thank you!!!
Thanks again for this interview Elizabeth and Arjen. And thanks Ajren for suggesting Elizabeth talk to Anneke :P. That is next on my wishlist :D.
What a lovley conversation! Thank you Arjen and Elizabeth!
This is what I was waiting for. I liked all of Arjen's comments on the various reaction channels, but this is so much more epic!
Arjen is the best. SO many times he has responded to comments I have made on his UA-cam videos and Facebook posts. Despite his seeing in himself a not really "nice" studio perfectionist, he is in fact a very thoughtful, kind and friendly human being who is definitely excellent to others. Even when deleting comments Arjen does it with thoughtfulness, class, & dignity. He genuinely cares about his fans and doesn't take us for granted. I positively adore him and His music.
What Arjen says about replying to everyone is really really true! I've sent an e-mail a long time ago to compliment his work when I first discovered Ayreon and he replied to me! His music already got me hooked but when he actually took the time to reply to me, personally, I really fell in love with his art and him as well!
Edit: Also, one of the most wholesome interview I've seen over here as well!
You're absolutely right. He replied to my email, and I was happily surprised. He's an amazing talent and I thought he was so kind.
Two of my favorite people. Arjen is a musical genius, and Elizabeth is so much fun to watch.
I’ve been a fan of Arjen for 15 years now, and this is by far the best talk with him I have ever seen. Keep going Elizabeth, you’re on to something special here!
Ok, I'm subscribing just because this interview.
By the way, you should interview Marcela Bovio, she released an album last year, almost 20yr colaborating with Lucassen and she sings on multiple songs for this StarOne's album.
I absolutely second this, she's one of the most versatile and technically brilliant singers ever!
@@VampireDemonFreak exactly, she is so versatile than can sing quite different styles and has a range that even she hasn't explored the full of it. Eg: just as she sings as the main voice, she sings so high in one of the songs of the latest StarOne's album as a background vocal.
She deserves more love yes
My dear Elizabeth, what a wonderful interview. I hope one day Floor Jansen will have the time to have such a long and great in depth conversation with you. She is a very good friend and musical partner and colleague from Arjen as you know, he could give her good references to you and your work. Would make us Floor and Nightwish fans very, very happy. Blessings to you!
I have been seeing reaction video's for half a year and enjoy all your reactions. You know your vocal stuff.
This is my first time I have seen a tea-time with you. You did a great interview and showed that you are a lovable lady.
I have to sheck your old ones. Keep up this goog work.
What a wonderful interview. I never thought of it, but it makes sense that Arjen is a Tangerine Dream fan. I love 'em too!
I also love that he mentioned Rush's "2112"! It's a long song, but you'll love it when you have the time to get to it, Elizabeth. :)
This dude is so amazing. He actually messaged me back before the 01011001 album came out cuz I was so pumped he got Hansi on there. I was like 18 or 19. I am 34 now and still sing a lot of genres. I love him so much!
I do really love how he appreciates the fans...many accomplished/famous musician tend to keep fans at arm's length. And the fact he himself and the musicians are in the FB group is amazing.
Having Arjen on your channel is one of the biggest highlights a UA-camr can have in their career. Amazing
I love how you always end the team time by asking the artist the best way to support them. As someone with a huge album collection, I love that supporting the artist is always a part of the conversation Elizabeth!
Exciting. I'm new to him too. Aren't we getting so much out of these reactions. You, brought me to Nightwish n Floor too. Keep on keeping on Elizabeth.
Thanks for having Arjen on, been a fan since The Human Equation and his music is one of a kind
Arjen is such an awesome human. Seeing him commenting on youtube reactions to his work is so awesome. Such a humble guy
Wow, this is one that everyone's been waiting for.
There is so much to love about both Arjen and his music! The genuine joy, and the absolute nerdiness from you both made two hours fly by, and leave me wanting more!
Oh boy this is gonna be so great. Cant wait
This interview is an absolute dream. Been a huge fan of Arjen since maybe 2002 or so when I discovered the 2 Universal Migrator discs and was blown away. Love all his works. To see him interviewed by Elizabeth on one of my absolute favorite channels was just amazing. To hear Arjen talk about his love for two of my favorite bands, RUSH and TANGERINE DREAM, was just icing on the cake. Elizabeth, you must check out his INTO THE ELECTRIC CASTLE album. One of my favorite concept albums of all time :-)
Yes we finally get an interview with the Hippie, love his music. I have all Ayreon and star one albums on cd and saw both ayreon concerts. Arjen is a great composer, guitarist and singer. Can't wait. Greetings from the Netherlands
Wow! What a great treat. Arjen, I can totally relate to your sensory loss. Mine has been gone going on four years. I use vanilla/caramel in my coffee to flavor it. It helps a little. I miss the taste of steak, pizza and pasta the most. I just close my eyes and remember how it's supposed to taste. Elizabeth, if I may be so bold, you are breaking new ground with these interviews. I think it's wonderful. Get Tuomas or Floor and UA-cam will explode! Thank you for all the work that I know goes into something like this. Please stay safe...
I've been a huge Ayreon fan for over 15+ years, and I started following your channel a while back now. As someone who has studied music, I truly believe Arjen is someone special in the music world; Your own interpretations and achievements tell me that you understand this as well. I love it. :)
It's been a shitty week at job for me and watching this interview just filled my life with joy and hope again. Both of you are incredible persons, so full of light!! Thank you SO much for this!!
Awesome interview thank you Elizabeth and Arjen you two made my day 😃
How excellent to be a 'fly on the wall' to this awesome conversation!! Thank you to you both for this, and may I say, Elizabeth, these conversations keep getting better and better! And a huge thank you to Arjen for his superb music, and openness to share about his life and musical process! Cheers to you both!
Such a generous interview, loved it! So much looking forward to the new Star One album and to continue exploring Arjens catalogue of music.
Arjen you are so humble, what I heard people want to work with you cuz you are an amazing person and composer. That you got Mr.Dan Swanö on an album says it all :) this was a treat to watch! Thank you both, well spent 2 hours!
If YT doesn't give me the reminder I set, I'm gonna burn my computer! I DON'T want to miss this one!
You should burn theirs instead… Also I heard there are functions on any computer and phone to set an alarm (and/or reminder) The time is set. You shouldn’t miss this tomorrow.
Two such warm and wonderful, excellent people in one spot! What a pleasure at the end of a long week. Thank you both for this interview!
I've pushed the like button extra hard, so good to see you Arjen! Gezellig! ;)
Love this video, thank you for being fabulous, Elizabeth!
I like that "how Arjen stays organized" is the shortest segment.
What a great talk! Thank you Arjen for your generosity and for all the wonderful music you've created. Everything Ayreon just makes me happy.
I had an awesome opportunity to meet with Arjen Lucassen, when he toured with Anneke van Giersbergen when the "Gentle Storm" was released. This was a super awesome night, I'll never forget that.
This will be EPIC!!!
Oh wonderful, this will be awesome! And surely, we must be getting closer to a vocal analysis of Damian Wilson... pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease
Hi Elizabeth, I loved this Fun, Informative, and Amazing Tea Time interview w/ Arjen. Thank you, Elizabeth and Arjen!!! 💙
Thank you Kirby for your constant enthusiasm and kindness!
Great one, Elizabeth, i've met the tall guy couple of times and he's always been very nice, even comlimented me for my video i made from the gig where he was on stage, it's on my youtube :) you're the best young lady, keep it up !!
great, GREAT interview!
The more I listen to and know about Arjen Luccasen, the more I love him and all his collaborators!
Thank you, Elizabeth for this precious moment.
Love is all! Dank je wel, Arjen! I posted that one on one of the Dio review....went unnoticed :( Dio in top form
Arjen ist amazing! He is funny and down to Earth. I can confirm he writes back to even the most ridiculous fan mail. Quite a long time ago I wanted to shoot a short film for a student project, where a guy lost on an airport meets his favorite musician.... So I imagined Arjen playing in it and... I don't know what I was thinking, but I wrote to him. He actually replied short after, saying he may consider doing it if it is professionally done. Unfortunately, the project didn't happen due to factors out of my control related to schedules and production crew, but the fact that he wrote back and was supportive meant the world to me. ❤
Ohhh Arjen ❤️ thank you for EVERYTHING you do & are.🌹
Wow, what an excellent interview. I'm 4 years younger than Arjen but can relate to a lot of stuff he said since in the end we grew up more or less with the same music.
And yeah, i also love "2112" from Rush, and I think its time for a reaction to that one 😄🤘🏼
This is awesome! I know Amanda Somerville is one of the guests on his latest albums (Transitus). What a powerhouse of a vocalist! One of my favorite female vocalists of all time. Maybe a reaction on Amanda in the future. :) Big part of Avantasia, Exit Eden, etc...
Wow! I kind of liked Ayeron before but having heard Arjen talk about his craft, well now I'm a fan. That's a high compliment to him and to you, Elizabeth. Thank you!
I hardly even know how to comment. What an enjoyable interview. Elizabeth, you are officially a presence. Thanks for doing this. Arjen is a prince.
It's always good to see people talking about things they love, from deep of their hearts and Arjen for two hours? Man, I'm so glad that this crossover happened love Liz reactions and Damn, Arjen's music change lifes forever. Thanks again for this interview and careers . Cheers from Brazil.
Arjen Lucassen, James LaBrie and Elizabeth Zharoff collaborating on a song together ... now that would really be something ....
Thanks to Elizabeth and Arjen to be constant lighthouses on this world with music and what they do.
You both did enlighten my day and the day of many other people countless times thanks for that!!
Arjen music is just always such a fantastic treat. It just makes every day I listen to it much better. His music is like the salt and spice so life is not bland.
I managed to catch a lot at work (my out of the office work was delayed and I had several things and lunch to do while some of this was going on). So I just finished it now.
This was cool and to you, Kirk, and Arjen, for the work on this stuff.
I'm so glad you did this interview! I love Arjen! I've even chatted with him over facebook a few times, he took the time to answer my questions in detail. I'm so happy that he's doing well and taking care of himself.
What an incredible interview. Two of my favorites.
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS INTERVIEW!!!
For the record, I’ve started listening Arjen’s music when I was in my 13-14 and it became my favorite so much, so whenever I feel blue and in need to be with myself I listen to any of his albums and it’s feels to me with so much joy and serenity.
I will thank this man, this extraordinary artist for how long eternity is lasts!
Thank you, Arjen, from me and shy and lonely teenager that I once was!
Such a great chat. Good to hear Arjen's ways to work. Hope to hear Elizabeth on his album in future.
WOW! Looking forward to this Tea Time.
What a really genuine guy, great interview, you always make them both real and special because you're both musicians. Thanks Elizabeth.
This was wonderful! I didn't regret a minute of the time spent watching you and Arjen talk. Thank you both.
This is a great interview.. I love how you mention Mike Mills and Tommy Karevik because they are two of my all time favourite Ayreon singers, they are just truly wonderful vocalists. This is so cool to see Arjen being so natural and honest and in depth. Thank you Elizabeth
This is going to be amazing!
I just listened to this interview again. Toward the end you mentioned Ayreon - Transitus and the comic book. One day you'll have to react to Aryeon - Daniel’s Descent into Transitus Medley (Official Video). Lots of good singers - Tommy Karevik & Simone Simons to name a couple.
Oh man, this was an awesome interview. Made my Friday even better. Thank you for this, and I'm sure more great upcoming interviews in the pipeline.
Such a great conversation! I love these ones!
two charismatic people sharing their love of music :) highly entertaining interview
12 minutes in and I've got a big smile on my face. What a good, genuine conversation.
