Always loved the human interest stories rather than the bird attacks - each character was sort of alone in the world aside from the young girl. By the way at the time many thought the idea of Mitch and Cathy being siblings with such an age difference was quite implausible.

After a few months ; Puerto Rico was recovering from Hurricane Maria( September 20, 2017)
I went to the supermarket, as I came out.
On top of the billboard and the cables; there was so many black birds.
My first thought was this movie.
I never walk so fast to my car.
It will be 5 years since that horrible hurricane hit us.
Movie was released March 28, 1963 ; on the same day of my birthday. I was 6 years old.

Scene at 0:13 where Tippi is crossing the street is near the same spot/corner that James Stewart crosses at dusk in Vertigo when he is wandering which is another fav Hitchcock movie of mine but some of the scenes from The Birds are very memorable. This Movie is Most Definitely a Classic. Although as for Myself? I've Never, been able too do anything but Fear n Hate it. First saw it at the Drive In Theater, as a Kid. Probably no More than 7or 8 yrs Old. We went too the Wrong Feature, that Night & it was the Late Show being Played.
After having Seen it? I had Nightmares for Ever, & couldn't Stop thinking about the Birds going Crazy in Real life. I guess it was too Real for Me at the time. I do remember the Cast was Exceptionally Outstanding for the Time. After that Rod Taylor, was My Big Idol, & Miss Hedren was most likely my First Crush, or it was Miss Suzanne, who took it. Also we would see Kathy the Girl, on Lost in Space, the TV Show. Amazing that was Fifty some Year's Ago now.
Anyways Thank You for Sharing it with US.

Kathy the girl wasn't on Lost In Space. Veronica Cartwright played Kathy the girl. It was Veronica's sister Angela Cartwright who played Penny Robinson on Lost In Space.

The echoing sound of the children singing while the birds gather on the playground equipment. So creepy

Me too! Can't remember where I saw it though. I definitely remember seeing psycho at the drive-in theater with my dad, brother and sister when 6 or 7 years old.

Vertigo, The Birds, Rear Window, North By Northwest, Life Boat, Psycho, Saboteur, Rope, Frenzy... When Hitchcock was firing on all six cylinders, he was truly "The Master Of Suspense." It's a travesty he never won an Academy Award for best director.

I saw this movie when I was about 10 years old. For years I wouldn't feed birds, look at birds, go near them.
Last night I just watched this movie again (now 40 years later). I was just as frightened. But the freight was different. It was more suspense, anxiety. Almost as if I exercised the inner demons of my 10 year old self. I Loved it !.

It’s certainly my favourite Hitchcock film. Loved Rod Taylor back in the day - he was the reason I saw this film in the cinema in the first place…..a good film though.

According to Tipi Alfred Hitchcock actually put her in a room full of birds attacking her for the film!
