FILM DESCRIPTION:
Unpopular nerd Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) buys a 1958 Plymouth Fury, which he names Christine. Arnie develops an unhealthy obsession with the car, to the alarm of his jock friend, Dennis Guilder (John Stockwell). After bully Buddy Repperton (William Ostrander) defaces Christine, the auto restores itself to perfect condition and begins killing off Buddy and his friends. Determined to stop the deaths, Dennis and Arnie's girlfriend, Leigh Cabot (Alexandra Paul), decide to destroy Christine.

She did kill one owner before she met Arnie, however the bullies did give her a beating she went full mad vendetta and I wouldn’t blame her since the police, the school didn’t do anything about it
(For the school, I meant Arnie since he’s been bullied and I’m not sure what the police would do if the killer happens to be a car)

Fun fact: someone was actually driving the car while it was literally on fire he had to wear flame proof equipment and a oxgeon tank and the windows where tinted black make it look like it was driving by it self and he could’t see out of those but he did pretty good

No blood and gore is needed to create a nightmarish scene. Just sheer terror. John Carpenter was one gifted director.
It sucks compared to the book. It was BRUTAL, plus the Camaro was a 1976, in the classic "street machine" style
@@Bigbigpoopi I absolutely love this movie. BUT I can say with certainty that if it weren’t such a childhood classic and if I had read the book first, I would probably think the movie was terrible. As an adaptation it just doesn’t even scratch the surface. The book is 5/5 for me. And the death of Darnell in the book…wow.
Think he was gored out after having just done THE THING.
The scene was actually changed. When christeen rammed that car into that garage, it cut the air lines in the shop- that car fell off the rack and crushed that skinny guy in the tan shirt. Gruesome scene. The only part they left in was the screaming.
Sure there's no blood or gore just a supposed persons body ran over by a car and caught on fire left to burn and smolder in the dark of night...

Suzzanne Stofko when I first heard about this movie I thought that the concept was dumb but when I heard John carpenter was the director I gave it a try since I loved the thing and Halloween , so I saw it and it didn’t scared me to the core but it’s more scarier than it tought it would , somehow he managed to make the concept work I love the score the atmosphere once Christine turns on the radio I feel creeped out

The music at *2:05* never ceases to put a chill down my spine. It captures that wonderful sense of impending dread and doom as it continues to rise in ominous crescendo. This is why I honestly love synthesisers
I am convinced bullies must have given a hell of time to Stephen King as a young boy. Most of his works feature in bullies, the way they are portraited clearly witnesses how much he despises them. Yet, King does not even try to conceal his satisfaction in seeing them getting what they rightfully deserve.
King is a bit autistic, I wouldn't be surprised
King grew up poor, his dad left him, he was bullied, and his only friend got killed by a train. Life screwed him in many ways
I'm not saying that every bully deserves to die in the most gruesome way like buddy repperton or chris hargensen, but maybe those who bully may learn something from his books and stop being so cruel to their peers
I've also noticed in Stephen King book based movies like this one and "It," they seem to be homicidal bullies.
That's the only thing I like about his books, he shows no mercy to bullies whatsoever. It's true that you could redeem bullies like they did with Flash Thompson in The Amazing Spider-Man universe, but King's bullies are so over-the-top sick people and potential murderers that you feel they don't deserve anything but death.
The imagery of the flaming Plymouth on the darkened road is honestly really metal

He was quite a convincing actor. It’s too bad (for audiences) that he did not continue in the business.
Props to the stunt driver and the stunt coordinator on this scene. Very well done, and brave.
You can tell Christine is going slow on purpose just to toy with Buddy, such an awesome scene.

*Fun Fact:* The 1957 Plymouth Fury, (Christine) was actually on fire! The stunt driver had a suit on to prevent him from burning to a crisp and breathing from an oxygen tank. And another *Fun Fact* They completely blacked out the windshield and windows. So the stunt driver couldn't see. They said this was the most dangerous part about making this film.

John Carpenter's music added immensely to his films and defined a great time period of cult movie making and a golden age of movie rentals. His electro themes, slow tempo build up, haunting ambience and incidental beats; unmistakably John Carpenter, during the 70's and 80's.
Goblin Kid the score and cinematography, this is why carpenter never dissapoints

His death was worse in the book. Buddy gets into a bad car wreck before Christine finally runs him down...I think the car then goes back and forth several times over his body.

In case you've never seen John Carpenter's anthology film Body Bags (1993), Wes Craven actually plays a role as a customer at the gas station in the first story. You should watch it. It's free here on UA-cam. And in one of the other stories, Stacey Keach plays a bald guy that gets a hair transplant, and he looks like a transvestite 😂😂😂

The stunt driver could barely see through the tinted windshield and the flames to drive the correct direction in that scene

They couldn't replicate the book scene: Christine chasing the Camaro up a snow-banked deserted dead-end road. It's a great read. 'Christine' is one of the better King novel-to-film adaptations, but I can think of only a couple of films which actually surpassed the novels in quality and suspense: 'Dolores Claiborne' and the original 'Carrie'.

A perfect chase down - the flaming car catches up to him, then no speed, no squealing tires, no roaring engine. All Christine had to do was wait for him to get tired... Pure nightmare fuel
Repperton looks like an 30 years old rock star and is still in high school.
He got held back a few grades.
I once saw an interview with him and he laughed when he said his agent gave him the character description (which is the same as in the book) and it said "Buddy Repperton has a mean, stupid face."

The scene is soooo much more violent in the book, but this is an iconic film scene that I will always love.
