Well the operation has been done doctor, he's currently in the recovery room but he's responding well to the surgery. He is getting his energy back little by little but it will take some time. I would say in about 2 hours you can go and check on him, thank you.
That was actually REALLY EASY. I changed the battery on my HTC 10 and that was the difficult phone. It was really easy for me to get my M8 open without damaging the screen, my HTC 10 was VERY difficult to open without damaging it.
IT WORKED!!! Replaced the battery and the flex charge port/audio jack. It took me an hour and 15 minutes and may have taken a couple years off my life from the stress in the middle when things got a little hairy but it worked! Thank you!
Mine's going after 2 years. Still has good battery power. The person who previously had it says he didn't notice a difference, and he used it a heck of a lot. Maybe I just got lucky. Agree though, this is ridiculous. :(
Just managed to change battery and reassemble everything into a working phone thanks to this video. When I first looked at the video I was convinced it would be a mission impossible, but with a fair bit of patience it's doable. HTC has really gone the extra mile to make a battery switch as difficult as possible..
This video helped a lot. One thing I had to learn myself is that the battery ribbon has connections on the underside that need to be pressed down or the battery won't charge. Had to open the phone back up to remedy this but now it's working great. Thank you!
90 minutes of play, stop, rewind, perform task, play, stop rewind play, perform task AND I DID IT! Thanks a ton! (M8 was collecting dust for ages, now it will be my new bike GPS!)
I recently performed this repair. It actually wasn't that bad. This video was a great help. I did this work and drank a beer in about 45 minutes. In fact, I screwed it up a few times and had to repeat the take-apart process 3 times. I ordered $20 in tools for the job when I bought the battery and charging port (which I also replaced). Having the right tools for this job is absolutely essential. All told I refurbished the phone for ~$50 including the tools. One thing that's missing from this video is the many layers of metal tape that cover all the ribbon connectors. That was a real pain. Also, reconnecting all the individual wires was tough. I didn't get the charging port completely reconnected and figured I'd blown the entire assembly when I got the orange LED of death when I was finished. Had to take it apart and do try again. Also, the motherboard was taped to the battery in my phone so it certainly didn't just come right out. Finally, it appears that the bath my HTC took killed the SIM port so I'll be redoing the process again, as well as a full screen removal. Ugh. Good luck to all those who try this. Remember that if something is put together it can be taken apart. Take your time and don't force anything.
Mark Thomas thanks for your post. That is exactly why I'll take it to a pro repair shop that will take all the risk and do those painstakingly tricky bits which are missing from these videos. It's probably easy for them with perfectly designed tools for the job and lots of experience - but taking this on myself just isn't worth it - your post confirmed that for me. They only charge £30 I think. Since I'd waste hours doing this - if I consider my time as part of the cost it's not worth it. Better to just put in an extra day at work, have no stress or risk of damaging my phone, and will be cheaper tbh.
I was adamant to throw my HTC One M8 and thought of giving it a try one time and save some bucks from buying new phone. Thanks for posting this one and the charger port replacement videos. I had it fixed. Short and clear video.
I've used this guide a couple of times now on a few One M8s. Works like a charm. The motherboards I have are very slightly different, but even so, this guide still works like a charm.
Extremely helpful, everything was absolutely covered in tape on my phone before I could remove any of the motherboard connections, but after removing that this guide was perfect.
Bought this phone in 2014. Battery was great up until the last couple of months. The phone either died at 15, 20 or 25%. I think I can replace the battery by myself. I've got all the tools except one. The hairdryer. FFS now I have to buy a hairdryer just to repair this phone.
Bought it when it first came out in 2014 too. The batteries must be designed to crap out in 2.5 yrs so you`ll buy the next model after your contract ends.
Fido Saurus Same here dieing at 24%...And not only that, you have to apply new glue on the speaker grills cuz the old one is weak. I think i'll sell my m8 to save the trouble and get an htc 11 instead..
Chandler Guilfoyle. No. They're not. Their calls can only be discharged so many time's before they're old. People not understanding hot batteries work is the bigger problem
God damn it! Where are the good old times, when you simply slipped down the cover to replace the bat. Eh, gonna try it anyway. Big thanks for well made video!
They do this just so us average jo suckers dig into our empty wallets and just buy another stupid phone . Ie throw away society Fuck the planet mentality here Thanks
Wow beautiful work it was quite fun to watch. Other DIY video's should take note at how to make a video that is to the point, informative with no words at all. Bravo.
Looks complicated. actually pretty simple. i just changed the charge/headphone port on mine (i know its old asf but i love the phone) only took me 20 minutes and is surprisingly easy.
WATCH OUT! The volume rocker flex strip, which is near the area shown at "3:00" is easy to miss and can be severed if you aren't careful during the last part of prying up the battery. I ruined mine by severing it somehow when pulling up the battery, so no volume rocker for me anymore. My fault! Other than that this video showed me everything I needed to do. Mostly a success! The two screwdrivers I used had the following sizes: 118181 TX 5 HF 118020 PH 00 J where TX is the six-pronged star (torx) and PH is Phillips. Used hairdryer instead of heat gun, razor blade to (carefully) pry off back housing, and a sliced up old credit card instead of the metal prying tool. I'll be back to watch this again when replacing that volume rocker assembly.
Thanks for the video. Worked great on my M8S. I lost 1 screw and one broke off, but I think that will be okay in the end. The worst part is the 2.5 metric tons of glue that hold the battery in place. I feared I might damage the display. But in the end, the phone works and the battery as well. Again, thank you very much for this video!
Hi; I have done the Htc One M8 process of changing the charging port and battery and when I turn on the grainy screen appears, as when the signal is lost on the TV. Any help as to why that happens to him? . It worked fine before. It was turned off by the battery the last time I saw him alive.
This has been the best phone Ive owned and I am suffering from the 15-20% battery issue, granted Ive had this phone since it was released and use it everyday. Its been in multiple cases and is still in like new condition. After watching this video, I cannot bring myself to attempt this operation. I'll just continue to carry my portable pack with me :(
Just got done. Required patience. Now I have an icon that shows the battery with an exclamation point on it. What does this mean? and how do you correct it?
Job done all good very nice and clear video how to do it! And now the only problem I have after the Battery replacement is that my GPS is not working so any idea what possibly went wrong ?
Thank you for the video. My M8 is perfect after over 4 years but the battery is not holding much charge anymore. Not sure if i'll be attempting this but i'm showing my appreciation nonetheless.
When my phone is powerd by a cable, it's working totally fine, but without cable it just starts, then immediately turns off, even with 100% charged battery. When I hook it up to the cable, the screen first says battery life is "0%" for the first seconds, then it instantly jumps up to 100. This must be the battery that is broken for sure, or?
Great! thanks for this video, did mine in about an hour. It's indispensable to see exactly how to prise up the edges in advance to avoid breaking things. Would be useful to have the video in reverse for the reassembly.
mine had some kind of tape holding all connections in place and 2 extra wires. every thing went well taking apart and putting back together but the new battery wont charge . i tried all the holding buttons instructions found on internet but phone not working.
+Jordan Barrett just put them back in position, there still leaves the adhesive. But if the adhesive can't not be used anymore, you can put some glue or 3M adhesive sticker on the edges.
+Kenny Roc i dont know what you have replaced but it sounds like the charging port is worn and needs replacing.. that would explain the battery only being displayed sometimes when you charge it as it will only charge when pressure it applied from a certain angle... this happened mine
I've changed mine but it won't turn on. I only see solid red light when i connect the wall charger noting more. Any ideas? Edit: I've reconnected the flex connectors and it's working now. Thanks.
Hi, I've just done this work on my M8, thanks for the video. Now the phone is connected to the charger, orange/red LED flashes and I have a battery icon on the screen but no charging. What should I do? Please help....
+IMLordch I had the same problem. In my case I made a mistake when reassembling the phone. I mounted the bottom left antenna cable below the battery power cable causing a short circuit. The antenna cable needs to be routed ABOVE the battery power cable! I hope you have not scrapped your phone becasue of this :-)
so i went through this very long process of replacing my battery everything is working but the phone still won't charge past 30 % wtf man this is too much
+Adrian Perez Sorry I can not tell you accurate length of screw right now, did you miss the screw?if batter sticker is not strong after teardown, you can use other kind of 3M sticker instead.
What if you break just a little bit the silver part on the back of the battery and get a little spark. If i cover that and the battery still works and charge. Something can happened ?
i slept at night and in the morning i tried to open the phone but it doesn't work at all. what is wrong with it do u think? what should i do ! btw i charged it for one hour but still it doesn't work.
think my next fone will have a removable battery. this video is great tho very clear and easy to understand. i've successfully replaced the battery in my m7, the m8 looks volumes easier than the m7 so i think i'll give it a go
Guh.. bloody phone manufacturers making their phones like this.. Might as well sell them with a little explosive device rigged to go off the day your warranty is void too. Wankers.
Presence of Mind I lost my shit, I enjoy doing that on the internet. Damn manufactures though, they know what they're doing the sneaky bastards. Although at the moment I'm looking at / probably getting "Motorola Moto G4 16GB" off Ebay, here's hoping it isn't just a brick shipped in a box!
+Tuna1989 It's called planned obsolescence, my man. The bastards have it all down to a science. The things break down right on time for the new products to arrive. It drives me nuts.
bonjour,je viens de changer une batterie neuve sur mon HTC one m8 et au moment de le charger ,il y a un point d exclamation qui s allume sur le symbole de la batterie ,que doit je faire?merci d avance
Changed charging port using parts ordered from WitRigs store. Now the red light is blinking while screen showing battery icon with lightening inside, but nothing happens. If connected to PC, only the red light blinks without the charging icon.
Sent the requested video. I need to know if there is any hope and this device worth any hussle. I must say that your instructions were easy and clear. I went throught battery and charging port replacement like a breeze.
Boris Kiseliov you probably ordered the wrong charging port.. There are two different types.. One for the att and Verizon version.. The other for the sprint htc Harman Kardon edition.. Make sure you got the right one
I used to fix HTCs all the time. I don’t miss it. It’s sooo much easier to replace a battery in an iPhone. Why can’t they just put all that junk under the battery? You have to replace them after 2 years. And the phone rarely looks the same when your reassemble them. Great disposable phone!
I know right. lol The whole time, I was expecting a how to version in which he or she just finds the battery permanently attached, throws the phone against a wall, then starts throwing eggs all over it. :D Or at the very least, normal satire that wouldn't involve eggs.
Well I just got my replacement battery and watched other videos on how to change my battery on my M7 Htc One that is about to have it's second birthday. Battery has always been a weakness, but now it's draining charges fast. Tried to pull the phone apart with the picks and supplied tools but I couldn't crack the suck open. Will try with the hairdryer next but wow what a hassle. I have liked the phone but I will either buy a Mophie Juice Pack case or chit can it and get a new one if the next attempt is no good. Oh, btw the local Sprint Service center will not even attempt a battery replacement. I tried.
+Wit Rigs Yeah I know the screen still works, the battery icon still comes on and sometime it will have an battery icon with a red ! in the middle. This is after I replace the batteries too. Is it possible that the motherboard is bad? And if so is there anything I can do about it
+Kenny Roc i dont know what you have replaced but it sounds like the charging port is worn and needs replacing.. that would explain the battery only being displayed sometimes when you charge it as it will only charge when pressure it applied from a certain angle... this happened mine
+Kenny Roc i dont know what you have replaced but it sounds like the charging port is worn and needs replacing.. that would explain the battery only being displayed sometimes when you charge it as it will only charge when pressure it applied from a certain angle... this happened mine

I did this, but now the power button will not turn it on. When I plug it in the screen lights up with the charging icon and 85% but the power button seems to have no effect.
+Jeff Hansen Realistically, these phones are not self-serviceable... or at least not meant to be. Most people would upgrade after 2 years or less, I imagine under normal use the battery would last that long. Would a phone repairer be able to swap out the battery no worries on one of these suckers? I would have to assume yes.
Replaced the battery in my HTC 10 a few months ago, works great, replaced the battery in my HTC One M8 today and it won't charge. Battery icon pops up and the orange charge light just blinks. Had it on charge a few hours but nothing is working. Held down volume rockers and power button 2 minutes still no good. May have to take it apart again and put the old battery back in. Smh
So I took the old battery out & put a new one in, and plugging to the charger I get slow blinks of green and slow blinks of orange, and no display, and the phone is getting HOT. So what did I do wrong? I'm pretty sure I put everything back ok. Oh, my phone has *both* white & black wires at lower left corner, not just white. Could I have them backwards? Eeeek.
Well, now I have the back off again, and plugging it in gives orange blinking *plus* the red battery charging display at 0% with no green charging movement. So we'll see what happens....
i hope it will be easy for me. My loading port and battery just broke so i hope i can repair that.. That vid is nice THX for uploading it. the new battery will arrive till friday. i will tell here if it went good if someone want to hear that ^^ wish me luck guys
I'm not electronics whiz by any means but it is not as intimidating as it looks as long as you take your time and follow directions. I've disassembled my HTC M8 3 times. Once to replace the charging port because my carrier said there was no replacement and wanted to "upgrade" me to an S7, another time to replace the daughterboard since he power button went on the fritz and keep rebooting the phone....and now the top speaker went out. I love this phone as an internet phone and as a media device. Been looking for an unlocked device similar too it but I can't afford for pay $800 up front for a phone right now.
Hi sir, you can get replacement parts for HTC M8 at www.witrigs.com/htc-one-m8-replacement-parts I'm sorry to tell you that we can not send Battery to your country because of the logistic company's security control, but you can get it in our oversea warehouse, here is the link www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-HTC-One-M8-2600mAh-3-8V-Internal-Battery-B0P6B100-9-88Whr-Li-ion-New-/182471622726
Does the new battery have adhesive strips on it, or do you have to get your own? Btw, that music... it's like the 1970's all over again, only with futuristic tech. ;-)
and i bricked my htc one m8, replaced battery, put it back together, got a static(like a tv with no channel) screen, took it apart again, to find out that either the screen cable or connector on the motherboard is damaged, got it to work for a few mins by moving the cable but after 5 hours of trying to make it work i give up :(
+Johndoe9990 And THAT mentality is precisely what's wrong with the world today. Back in the day, you could actually fix shit when it broke... instead of being some helpless victim dependent on China in a throw-away society like we are today.
Maybe because it's not meant for "normal people" like you to repair their phone! I'm not a pro technician, but I do repair my electronic stuff myself, but if you don't have the guts to do it, then by all means let a pro do it for you!
I love my m8, already done with the ROM update, resurrection remix nougat. Now to complete the resurrection I'll do this operation. Can anyone suggest an international eBay seller for the battery?
Spent 4 hours at night to replace my htc M8 battery, and I made it! Thanks for the video!
That's great. you are welcome.
@@EricWitrigs it was ironic!
Genius....
Well the operation has been done doctor, he's currently in the recovery room but he's responding well to the surgery. He is getting his energy back little by little but it will take some time. I would say in about 2 hours you can go and check on him, thank you.
:-)
It only took me about 5 seconds into the video for me to change my mind on trying to change the battery. I'll just keep a charger with me...
Haha. I don't blame you.
same here but I will have to resort to the htc service center to get it done, my phone keeps dying at 25% :p
lol
Hahahahahhahahaha
That was actually REALLY EASY. I changed the battery on my HTC 10 and that was the difficult phone. It was really easy for me to get my M8 open without damaging the screen, my HTC 10 was VERY difficult to open without damaging it.
IT WORKED!!! Replaced the battery and the flex charge port/audio jack. It took me an hour and 15 minutes and may have taken a couple years off my life from the stress in the middle when things got a little hairy but it worked! Thank you!
+Ryan Paul You're the lucky one...
Lol nice job HTC. Make sure the battery doesn't last after a couple years and then require a rocket scientist to replace it.
Mine's going after 2 years. Still has good battery power. The person who previously had it says he didn't notice a difference, and he used it a heck of a lot. Maybe I just got lucky. Agree though, this is ridiculous. :(
+Fitsa Dee I I've had my phone almost a year and a half, but the battery crapped out on me just yesterday.
My was purchased in 2012 or 2013. Still fine.
Just managed to change battery and reassemble everything into a working phone thanks to this video. This is one of the most terrifying things I have seen lately, no joke.
I just replaced my battery and charging port. This video was perfect. I probably watched it 10 times. Phone works like new. Thank you.
+N0chill That's good if you fix the problem by yourself.
N0chill does replacing the battery erase data like all thr pictures and videos on the phone?
I can tell you that it doesn't, although it's always wise to back up your data first
as long as he dont fuck up emmc chip nothing will be wiped :D
youngstunnaxstylez well in the battery i thing there is no memory chip or something like that 😂
I was adamant to throw my HTC One M8 and thought of giving it a try one time and save some bucks from buying new phone. Thanks for posting this one and the charger port replacement videos. I had it fixed. Short and clear video.
My battery is fucked and I'm going to be performing this pain-staking operation. Wish me luck.
Digital West Good luck & may you success.
+Digital West so how did you get on?
Muadh Rehman i actually didnt have to do it in the end
did you get your battery fixed?
Muadh Rehman nope had to claim on the insurance in the end and got a brand new phone
I've used this guide a couple of times now on a few One M8s. Works like a charm. The motherboards I have are very slightly different, but even so, this guide still works like a charm.

What a mission. I sincerely hope my battery never fails!
It did here.
Wow beautiful work it was quite fun to watch. Other DIY video's should take note at how to make a video that is to the point, informative with no words at all. Bravo.
Looks complicated. actually pretty simple. i just changed the charge/headphone port on mine (i know its old asf but i love the phone) only took me 20 minutes and is surprisingly easy.

that's the most in-depth battery replacement i've ever seen. really hope i don't have to do this soon.....
How long should you charge the new battery? Should it show the LED instantly after install?

I'll be back to watch this again when replacing that volume rocker assembly.
This is the very reason I buy a smartphone with a removable battery !
Yeah, it is not easy to replace this battery.
or sell the phone before warranty expires
Thanks for the video. Worked great on my M8S.
I lost 1 screw and one broke off, but I think that will be okay in the end.
The worst part is the 2.5 metric tons of glue that hold the battery in place. I feared I might damage the display. But in the end, the phone works and the battery as well. Again, thank you very much for this video!
I could feel my enthusiasm for the task drain away.
Hi; I have done the Htc One M8 process of changing the charging port and battery and when I turn on the grainy screen appears, as when the signal is lost on the TV. Any help as to why that happens to him? .

How easy is it to put the seaper grills back on, do you have to reapply adhesive?
Thank you for the video. My M8 is perfect after over 4 years but the battery is not holding much charge anymore. Not sure if i'll be attempting this but i'm showing my appreciation nonetheless.

Great! thanks for this video, did mine in about an hour. It's indispensable to see exactly how to prise up the edges in advance to avoid breaking things. Would be useful to have the video in reverse for the reassembly.
do you need to pack the components back in place using brand new adhesive?
As a former Dell hardware tech, I hope that I never have to replace the battery in that, though it seems easier to work on than a Dell Venue.
I own one of these and I do like it but.....Who in the fuck is gonna go through all this shit just to get to the fucking battery!?
Nice music! Watched way past when I needed to, just for the tune!
Thanks for the tut.
Thank you, changed it on two phones using this video
Just ordered the parts to perform the operation on my patient. Ill tell how it goes once they arrive.
The repair was a great success. The only problem with the guide for me was that it didn't show how much adhesive held the battery.
lol wanna replace mine?
I would, but I was lucky just to get mine going.
mine had some kind of tape holding all connections in place and 2 extra wires. every thing went well taking apart and putting back together but the new battery wont charge . i tried all the holding buttons instructions found on internet but phone not working.
Phat beat. Im more into the beat than the actual fix on the phone lol. Thanks will try it. Good vid. Keep the beats coming.
pretty hectic job.... anyway my phone always switched off in between 15% to 1 %. Is it time for the replacement OR it's just a software issue??
The video did not show how to change out the concave metal port at the bottom where you plug in the charger ?
I'm finding 1/2 copper foil tape online. Is that what you need to replace the silver tape?
What are you doing on the speaker covers before removing them? Warming them up? What tool are you using?
Yes, you can warm it with hairdryer first, then you can use some metal spudger similar like this one:www.witrigs.com/metal-opening-tool-hh-5a
how do you refit the speaker strips do you use some glue ?
+Jordan Barrett just put them back in position, there still leaves the adhesive. But if the adhesive can't not be used anymore, you can put some glue or 3M adhesive sticker on the edges.
Whats the music in this video? Is it available royalty free somewhere?
+Kenny Roc i dont know what you have replaced but it sounds like the charging port is worn and needs replacing.. that would explain the battery only being displayed sometimes when you charge it as it will only charge when pressure it applied from a certain angle... this happened mine
I've changed mine but it won't turn on. I only see solid red light when i connect the wall charger noting more. Any ideas?
Edit: I've reconnected the flex connectors and it's working now. Thanks.
Hi,
I've just done this work on my M8, thanks for the video.
I hope you have not scrapped your phone becasue of this :-)
What is the name of the tool used to heat the speaker plate to remove them? I checked your website and Amazon and didn't find it.
+Davison Thomas It is Heat Gun, also you can use Hair Dryer instead.
I did this battery repair and broke the screen in the process. Ended up replacing the screen too.
But hey, it works now!
NICE TRACK at the beginning!!
so i went through this very long process of replacing my battery
everything is working but the phone still won't charge past 30 %
wtf man this is too much
The screw of the battery conector, how many millimeter are? and the adhesive witch it wants or its especific?
+Adrian Perez Sorry I can not tell you accurate length of screw right now, did you miss the screw?if batter sticker is not strong after teardown, you can use other kind of 3M sticker instead.
What if you break just a little bit the silver part on the back of the battery and get a little spark.
If i cover that and the battery still works and charge. Something can happened ?
+Angel Varela Faroppa Sure... why not. LOL
I am facing the issue like when i am charging mobile the light is blinking but mobile is not switching on, please help to sort it out..
thanks alot dude. i repaired my m8 by myself. big thumbs up
I got it!! After reinstalling the screws for the battery terminal push on the back of it until you here/feel a click.
HTC one M series of phones are most compex to fix. Nice video
i slept at night and in the morning i tried to open the phone but it doesn't work at all. what is wrong with it do u think? what should i do ! btw i charged it for one hour but still it doesn't work.
Your VDO just saved my fone
thanx
What adhesive do you recommend for putting the speaker covers back on?
+GreekPotato Some kind of 3M adhesive is ok.
think my next fone will have a removable battery. this video is great tho very clear and easy to understand. i've successfully replaced the battery in my m7, the m8 looks volumes easier than the m7 so i think i'll give it a go
Guh.. bloody phone manufacturers making their phones like this.. Might as well sell them with a little explosive device rigged to go off the day your warranty is void too. Wankers.
Lmao
Presence of Mind
I lost my shit, I enjoy doing that on the internet.
It drives me nuts.
these are easy to do, be methodical, watch and re-watch each step then proceed. pretend you are disarming a bomb, be gentle.
👍
bonjour,je viens de changer une batterie neuve sur mon HTC one m8 et au moment de le charger ,il y a un point d exclamation qui s allume sur le symbole de la batterie ,que doit je faire?merci d avance
Changed charging port using parts ordered from WitRigs store. Now the red light is blinking while screen showing battery icon with lightening inside, but nothing happens. If connected to PC, only the red light blinks without the charging icon.
Is it possible to take a short video and send it to support@witrigs.com. if the video is too big, you can send it via we transfer.com
Does anyone know how hard it is for a novice to complete this repair?
Alex Sandoval Very. Don't bother trying
I changed my battery 12/17/15...this video saved my wallet.
ur baterry works for a day now?
haha this must be a joke. it's like watching ocean's eleven.
I know right. lol The whole time, I was expecting a how to version in which he or she just finds the battery permanently attached, throws the phone against a wall, then starts throwing eggs all over it. :D Or at the very least, normal satire that wouldn't involve eggs.
what are all the tape marks on the sides of the phone? what do these serve?
the clip position....yeah....that's correct....
i thought this is mission impossible scene
Nicky Aldyano this is
I am a tech geek and always up for a challenge but this gives me the heebie geebies
I tried.
Any idea on what to do now that the phone still won't turn on?
+Kenny Roc Dear Kenny, If it is charging, can you see the screen works?
+Wit Rigs Yeah I know the screen still works, the battery icon still comes on and sometime it will have an battery icon with a red ! in the middle. This is after I replace the batteries too.
Is it possible that the motherboard is bad? And if so is there anything I can do about it
+Kenny Roc i dont know what you have replaced but it sounds like the charging port is worn and needs replacing.. that would explain the battery only being displayed sometimes when you charge it as it will only charge when pressure it applied from a certain angle... this happened mine

Can i put 4000mah battery in
htc one M8 ...
I did this, but now the power button will not turn it on. When I plug it in the screen lights up with the charging icon and 85% but the power button seems to have no effect.
+lithium720 you mean the phone can work well except the power button can not wake the screen up?
The power button does nothing.
Wow. Nicely done. That seems to be a lot of steps just to get to the battery. Coincidence?
+Jeff Hansen Realistically, these phones are not self-serviceable... or at least not meant to be. Most people would upgrade after 2 years or less, I imagine under normal use the battery would last that long. Would a phone repairer be able to swap out the battery no worries on one of these suckers? I would have to assume yes.
Thanks for the great video. You save my phone!
Smh
Did you ever figure out how to fix this issue?
2:54 what's that cable?
Merci grâce à vous ,j ai réussi à changer ma batterie dans mon HTC one m8 👍👍👍
made the m8 last until 2018... but i dont have the capability to perform this surgery so rip
Oh, it's not so bad :)
What is this on your finger
It's called rubber finger cots. They reduce the sweat compared to using a rubber glove. Plus they look like mini condoms.
i hope it will be easy for me. My loading port and battery just broke so i hope i can repair that.. That vid is nice THX for uploading it. the new battery will arrive till friday. i will tell here if it went good if someone want to hear that ^^ wish me luck guys
The key is to take screen out of back cover, and best luck for you. :-)
thanks it work for me. i need 2- 3 h but i repair it succesfully :D, thx again for the vid.
Holy crap. Not going to that myself
Yeah, it is not easy.
After many years, changing the battery a second time, I hope it's the last! :)
where can i get a battery and screen for my handset HTC one M8 phone
i am in zimbabwe
Hi sir, you can get replacement parts for HTC M8 at www.witrigs.com/htc-one-m8-replacement-parts
I'm sorry to tell you that we can not send Battery to your country because of the logistic company's security control, but you can get it in our oversea warehouse, here is the link www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-HTC-One-M8-2600mAh-3-8V-Internal-Battery-B0P6B100-9-88Whr-Li-ion-New-/182471622726
couldn't you put an m9 battery inside an m8 ?? the connections appear to be the same
just watching breathless and thinking DIY what could go wrong...
Does the new battery have adhesive strips on it, or do you have to get your own?
Btw, that music... it's like the 1970's all over again, only with futuristic tech. ;-)
and i bricked my htc one m8, replaced battery, put it back together, got a static(like a tv with no channel) screen, took it apart again, to find out that either the screen cable or connector on the motherboard is damaged, got it to work for a few mins by moving the cable but after 5 hours of trying to make it work i give up :(
HTC must find a way to make this easier! this is absurd
+Johndoe9990 Closed back phones are absurd. You used to be able to open phones to replace the battery yourself.
+Johndoe9990 And THAT mentality is precisely what's wrong with the world today. Back in the day, you could actually fix shit when it broke... instead of being some helpless victim dependent on China in a throw-away society like we are today.
For a technician, this is not something very difficult, actually.
+Jean V Are normal people technicians?? For the normal consumer, this is absolutely ridiculous. Think before you post.
