For those who will be doing this: This process is a lot harder than what it looks like; they had done it before, therefore most of the parts were easier to remove or maybe just a new phone. I attempted to do this and it is harder to remove most of the components and be careful when prying ribbons, they easily break, I didn't break mine but I was really close.
Thanks, repaired the M8S with this, it pretty much had identical guts save for 1 extra ribbon cable that had the power switch, a connector to top board, and a direct connection to main board.
I performed this repair yesterday and the video was very clear and helpful. Problems now are my power button doesn't depress like it should and the rear-facing camera doesn't work. I can get the phone to power on & off by pushing really hard on the power button with a coin or something hard. I took the phone out of the housing and made sure I had the power button properly oriented in the case and that the part identified in the video as the proximity sensor (which seems to also have the power button connection on it) was in place. I repeated this disassembly and reassembly twice, but no improvement. It just seems like there is no "springy-ness" to the power button. Like something is missing, but I'm sure all the parts are where they should be. The proximity sensor doesn't seem to have much if any adhesive on it, so even heating it up didn't make it stick down very well. Maybe I need to install some double sided tape under it? As far as the camera goes, I checked the connection on the bottom of the board as the video recommends and it was solid. The rear led light works and the front facing camera works fine. Any advice on either of these problems would be most appreciated!
+John Wiltse Update: I took the phone apart again last night and figured out the power button problem. I realized that the power button is located between the little black button and gold foil piece (proximity sensor maybe?). Once I knew that, I was able to get the power button to align between those two protrusions and now it works fine. No luck on the camera, however. I confirmed that the connections are all solid but it just does not work. Crashes the stock Camera app. When I tried a different camera app, it actually gave me a camera error message. I see there is replacement rear camera for sale on the fixez.com site, but I think my camera actually has 2 lens connected in a single metal housing (for the Zoe features) and the part on the web site doesn't appear to have the 2nd lens portion.
+John Wiltse hey can you tell me what actually happened to your rear camera. My phone screen broke so I gave it for repairs, but the camera isn't working now, front camera is workinh fine, just I get black screen if I try use rear camera from snapchat Or Instagram and the rear camera isn't being shown at all in the camera app. Regards, ABHI
I didn't get a black screen when using the rear camera. As I said before, choosing the rear camera caused the camera app to crash. I sold the phone on eBay advertised with a non-working rear camera and bought a reconditioned replacement.
A few of the videos I watched showed popping the guts out with a plastic thingy. The hobby knife works a hell of a lot better. I just got finished replacing the USB/audio jack board and this video helped a LOT. Thanks!
Thanks for this video, helped me a lot with replacing my broken screen. Video is well done, easy to follow and props on the 1080p to see all the small details needed to make sure wires are put in the correct spot and speakers placed right side up. Made this job simple :) lol tooke me about 1.5 hrs from start to finish vs your guys 20 min haha
My rear camera was dead so I bought a new one, thanks to this video I manage to install a new camera. It was working well but when I was done assembling my M8 back again, now the new rear camera is dead too, just like the one before... any hints?
Is it possible to replace just the glass? Or do you need to buy an entire new LCD assembly even if you've only cracked the glass (and the LCD is undamaged)
Hi, thanks to show how to disassemble HTC m8. Did follow steps to change damaged screen (phone was working befor screen change), after assembl phone, phone has purple/white snow on the screen. Any help to fix the problem will be appriciate!
You should have mention what version is. Because there are 3 version. M8s, M8sn, M8su. There are big differences inside on the motherboard, charging port, display connector and antennas cables
I have an m8 and I just adore this fone, out of all the smartphones ive had I rate this fone especially is my fav, my problem being is that ive accidentally dropped it and smashed the screen and so I need to replace it, I'm a computer technician by trade so I will be attempting the replacement myself but it will be my first attempt so watch this space ???? awesome guide by the way, very well presented and ill follow this ok I think ????
My screen has a lot of odd white spots on it and I thought about doing this, but nope....no chance lol. I can get a new phone on Ebay for sub $200 now.
It is a really frustrating job! It took my 5 hours just to take everything apart! I do however love the detail the guy gives. But yeah, it was real frustrating, and I had to walk away several times before sitting down and trying again!
Honestly, no flaws. It's everything you can ask for in a phone. But, here's a note. I would also consider checking out the Nexus 6p since it's slightly bigger and better than the 10 by faster fingerprint recognition, slightly improved battery and camera (front/ back). Drawbacks are that unlike 10, 6p doesn't have sdcard slot. But from my experience, 6p performs slightly faster than the 10.
I went through all the steps to replace the digitizer and powered the unit back on...everything works except for a portion of the digitizer (the location is where "Power Off" would be located when you hold the power button on the phone). Do you think this would be an issue with the replacement digitizer or would it be a faulty connection with one of the ribbon cables? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
hey man ur tutorial step by step and everything sounds good except a part of my screen is slightly dimmer than the rest in likd . white background. what could be the issue here?
What adhesive should you use when using a new part? Video is slightly misleading in being able to reheat and reuse existing adhesive on the existing chassis and part to be reinstalled..which wouldn't be available when replacing the screen?
Hey, the rear facing camera doesn't seem to work. There is no option to switch between cameras. I took it apart again and check the connection and it seems fine? any advise?
Hi, is there a easy way of separating the touch screen digitiser from the LCD and then putting a new digitiser onto the previous LCD without any issues? Or is it easier to just buy a new LCD that's already fused with the digitiser?
great guide, many thanks, however i have just replaced my screen and all good until i installed the sim. I keep getting a No SIM card message despite inserting a fully working and tested sim card (taken from another htc one m8 on same network). Any suggestions why i am getting this error after screen replacement?
+Juan Rodriguez htc one m8 and the iphone 6s plus are not even from the same generation of phones of dumbass, ofc the 6s plus would be faster seeing that it was released 2 years later than the m8. smh
Hi Fixez, nice guide. But when you replace the speaker in the new frame how do make sure it doesn't make the buzzing noise as it vibrates in the housing. I think there is a rubber gasket in the original htc frame which isn't in the replacement is this correct?
Hey. I dropped my HTC m8 the other day. The phone fell on its right side bezel and shattered the screen. everything works perfect, just the screen is shattered. However, there is a small 1/4 mm dent right above the SIM card slot, which is protruding into the screen where the phone is shattered the most. So I was wondering, do I just need a new LCD display or does the whole chaseè need to be replaced in order for the screen to fit properly again? Thanks in advance.
My m8 fell and is bent slightly from the top of the volume button. Everything still works fine but my screen has a small purple-blue ish spot. Touch works perfectly, and everything is still being displayed on the screen, even beneath the spot. Does my digitizer have to change or the lcd? Thanks
Followed this video and replaced my screen however I snapped the clip from the board that you plug the vibration motor into. I didn't realise it pulled out and just pulled it away from the board. Is there a way I can repair this? Do I need a new board? Tbh you don't even need to take that plug out wish I hadn't bothered
Soldering isn't really an option as it's so small, I've bought some adhesive glue to try, after that I'd have to just replace the upper board which I won't be doing.
+wateule muse-ick If you're removing your original screen, you will most likely damage it in the removal process. Try your best to work through it slowly to prevent this but it may still get damaged.
I managed to replace my screen but now the sim card and all the cameras dont work. I dont know what it could be as the power button still works but nothing else on the top portion works.
question will having lose connectors behind the board where the camera is cause the power button not to work?? I replaced the screen and noticed it wasn't working then took it apart again and noticed one of the connectors behind the board was not connected. just wanna know if that would cause the lower button not to work before I put it back together.
I just installed a screen assembly that I ordered from your site and everything seemed to go fine. The phone powers on but the screen doesn't come on. Any thoughts?
Just installed a new screen on my HTC one M8 by following this video. Everything worked out good but now its saying No SIM. Played around with the SIM holder and tried multiple things. Decided to swap back in my old screen and its saying the same thing, No SIM. Is there a connection i may have missed that would correspond to the SIM drive? I checked the ribbon connection to the SIM and its full seated and locked down. Any suggestions let me know. Thanks
Yeah I have the same issue. I think I damaged the port on the main board and the No SIM message appears regardless of which housing I use. Welp - This was a solid learning experience at least. Plus I think using a phone for 3years is pushing it.
Well thinking back the earpiece stopped working also. I'm going to check if the issue lies with the camera also because then I prob messed something bigger up haha!
Thanks for the vid. I just replaced the screen and charger port in my M8. Before I put it back in the back housing, I tried plugging it up to the charger and pressing the power button to see if it works. The battery has been dead for about 2 weeks so I don't know if the battery needs charging for a while longer or something internal. The LED orange light stays on while plugged up and the phone doesn't come on when I press the power button. Please help.
+khaoe smith Your battery may be bad. But it can also be a bad LCD, double check that nothing was missed on the reassembly. Check your flex cables to ensure they are seated properly.
+Fixez.com ugh....I checked everything and all the connections are OK. The other day while checking some things I broke the clip that holds the ribbon that you take apart at 06:12 but the ribbon still goes in and holds firmly.
i have an htc one m8. it got run over by a car. the screen of course was completely shattered and it did not display anything. i opened the phone up and it was perfectly fine in the inside but the lcd was cracked. i put it on chrarging and the led still turns on. i was wondering is it just the lcd or the phone. again the mother board and the inside looks perfectly fine.
My HTC M8 screen shows no physical damage. The screen just keeps phantom pressing (severely at times)..doesn't respond to touch sometimes...& the top part of d screen used to get to the pull down menu doesn't work at all...these problems just started out of the blue...might this be a software issue or should i just replace the screen ????? Thanks!
+Raoul Fraser Possible software issue. Try a factory reset first, if the issues continue your digitizer is most likely the issue. In this case you would want a new a LCD and Touch screen replacement.
replaced my screen as you did. but the charging light just flashes orange and the phone wont turn on. the screen shows a battery charging symbol. any ideas?
i replaced my screen as you did. but as i put the charger on it because my battery was stone dead. my charging light just flashes orange and the phone wont turn on. the sceen shows a battery charging symbol. any ideas?
Great Video, awesome Detailed Information, Wish I saw this video first :o/ I was able to replace my Charging Port, but after re assembling , My Volume down button does not work i can hear it click when I press it but it does nothing :o/ Also my power button has sunk in, and I have to press it down with my fingertip Nail to power it off or lock the phone, Can you tell me what I may have done wrong, and will I be able to fix it myself? Thanks. I have a developer Edition and would like to Keep the phone till a new better model comes out, I am not to happy with the M9 or M10 :o/
ERVARGAS NYC you just need to take it apart and put those buttons back in properly. Put the power button in and then do the opposite of what this video shows putting the top of the phone back into the housing rather than the bottom
George McArdle Thanks, Will Give it Another Shot. I havd bought. a brand New HTC One M8 AT&T Version, Got it from someone who got it as a gift and just put it away, because he was into IPhone. I would like to Fix My HTC's Buttons, As it's a Developers Edition Fully Factor Unlocked, Paid $740 including Tax, from HTC.com and I can Tether with Developers Edition with no Issues at all. AT&T phones block Tethering :o/
I've done everything correctly, but at random times the phone will shut off without notice. I reopened it and looked for loose connections but their isn't any. it usually shut off while in my pocket and that's it. The power button doesn't get stuck. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Replaced the screen on my device .. everything works perfect , but when i try to load the camera , it pops up , showing black screen like you have something on the lens and then just stops working and takes me back to main screen also , tried to play the videos i have taken with my device and also it starts playing and then stops..any help pls ?
+Caleb Arnold You can follow this guide to replace the display, and the parts and tools are available on our website. www.fixez.com/store/htc/htc-one-m8
+WorldWide Video UPDATE: reattached touch flex and now got half screen respond only, no reboot. Done very close inspection under magnifier next to touch connector AND noticed that one micro filter broke off while im been disconnected flex several times. NOW looking for used logic board. Expensive mistake. SUGGESTION: Dont repair HTC if you never done it.
+WorldWide Video how you gonna learn if you never do it. gotta start somewhere. Just because you fudged doesn't mean everyone else will. Then again I have repaired a lot of apple phones screens before. As long as you are very careful and follow instructions you will be fine. just work slow and double check what you are doing.
the same problem on my phone (htc m8 one), while i want to open video link on youtube the video frozen and the screen became dark and then wasn't opened (((
+INTERTEATMENT Difficult to recommend here. Once you have the device open, check for any corrosion on the logic board. You may want to start with a new battery but with water damage, it's never a guarantee. Good luck!
Hi, i have to change the battery of HTC E8, anyone know if it is the same battery of M8? In ebay for M8 i found B0P6B100 - 35H00214-00M and for E8 B0P6B100 - 35H00214-01M Probably this little code difference make them non compatible but i'm not sure....
Did you figure this out yet? I had the same issue with an HTC One M8. I ended up wiping it using the built in Factory Wipe. Holding down both volume buttons and the Power button all at the same time. When it shuts down, release the power and volume up buttons. Keep the volume down held down and push the power button. That gets you to the menu. I tried running the other options first, but the phone was acting "Goofy" when we stopped using it a year ago. I'm using it now and it has been trouble free.
You need to go into more depth on how to remove the earpiece speaker. I just destroyed mine thinking it was supposed to be easy to remove... Let me just tell you all that it is not.
Braden Jensen ***** I Should have read the comments... just done the exact same :'( It is very delicate and if you don't go deep enough you just rip it in 2.....
These videos are unrealistic as they don't show you exactly how much glue/adhesive is actually inside this phone anyone trying to replace the screen is simply better off buying a new one as these phones are extremely complicated .. I know because I tried this morning

Question. How can anybody do this without getting frustrated?
My screen has a lot of odd white spots on it and I thought about doing this, but nope....no chance lol. I can get a new phone on Ebay for sub $200 now.
I got thru the disassembly process.. breaking a flex cable of the LCD.

Hi Fixez, nice guide. But when you replace the speaker in the new frame how do make sure it doesn't make the buzzing noise as it vibrates in the housing. I think there is a rubber gasket in the original htc frame which isn't in the replacement is this correct?
+AC Milan 1899 Correct, this gasket helps control this noise which you would need to transfer over.

Possible the connection is not fully seated. Although appears to be, it may not be holding it's position as it should.
Great job bro
great detailed video thanks
i have an htc one m8. it got run over by a car. the screen of course was completely shattered and it did not display anything. i opened the phone up and it was perfectly fine in the inside but the lcd was cracked. i put it on chrarging and the led still turns on. i was wondering is it just the lcd or the phone. again the mother board and the inside looks perfectly fine.
THanks for you👍
My HTC M8 screen shows no physical damage.
Thank you
Thank you so much just fixed it with this video and the parts from you!!
+Aa ron You're welcome. We're glad to hear your repair was successful.
replaced my screen as you did. but the charging light just flashes orange and the phone wont turn on. the screen shows a battery charging symbol. any ideas?
I'm facing the same problem. Found a solution?
yes, the battery connection under the 2 screws wasn't aligned and snapped in
i replaced my screen as you did. but as i put the charger on it because my battery was stone dead. my charging light just flashes orange and the phone wont turn on. the sceen shows a battery charging symbol. any ideas?

Used the Charger of my Chromecast with only 0.25 Ampere. Used the original with 1.5 Ampere. now it's working!
Where is the accelerometer and can I replace it?
On the samsung galaxy s4 screen and frame it says i545 and i337 which one do I get I have a spirt samsung galaxy s4
I did everything as shown, but the sim card doesn't work.. Any ideas?
+Vasil Filipov There's a small flex ribbon that should be connected by your sim card slot. Ensure this flex cable is connected properly.
I've done everything correctly, but at random times the phone will shut off without notice. I reopened it and looked for loose connections but their isn't any. it usually shut off while in my pocket and that's it. The power button doesn't get stuck. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!
+skyeye21 If the insulating tape is not replaced over the connections they can sometimes short out against the back housing.
My M8 touch screen won't work wich ribon connect could be loose or smth? Can someone help me??
Just for you to know, the coaxial cable connections on lower side, show on your vídeo two cables, mine has only one
... Don't ask why :P

Me too! I was freaking out til I saw your comment haha
OMG same it turns out I had two but it's hidden under tapes and tucked away in the video it's in a much more easier lace to find

Konstantinos Filippou check all of the ribbons are back in correctly and that the cameras are clipped back in

+Caleb Arnold You can follow this guide to replace the display, and the parts and tools are available on our website.

HI. NEED HELP Fixez.com !!!
Done everything as per your video to change lcd, but now no touch and constantly reboots after 2 min. Thanks in advance!
+WorldWide Video
UPDATE: reattached touch flex and now got half screen respond only, no reboot.
+mattike53218 Thanks for the input, positive thinking goes a long way.
the same problem on my phone (htc m8 one), while i want to open video link on youtube the video frozen and the screen became dark and then wasn't opened (((
+Orxan Məmmədli Try performing a hard reset. Seems to be a software bug if your LCD functions right otherwise.
Good it really works
thanks
my phone has gone into water now my phone is just on n off so ,
can tell me wt can i do for it
+INTERTEATMENT Difficult to recommend here. Once you have the device open, check for any corrosion on the logic board. You may want to start with a new battery but with water damage, it's never a guarantee. Good luck!
Would have been nice to see the replacement go in rather than the old.
great video good job thx :)
Hi, i have to change the battery of HTC E8, anyone know if it is the same battery of M8?
In ebay for M8 i found B0P6B100 - 35H00214-00M
and for E8 B0P6B100 - 35H00214-01M
Probably this little code difference make them non compatible but i'm not sure....
Hay nice video,
can you show how to replace Power Button ?
much people with htc one m8 have problems with this, because its get broken very fast.
+TecSationce We'll do our best to upload more videos on this device. Stay posted for any updates, thank you.
otima aula
Mine is stuck on the "htc one" opening screen. ??
Did you figure this out yet? I had the same issue with an HTC One M8. I ended up wiping it using the built in Factory Wipe. Holding down both volume buttons and the Power button all at the same time. When it shuts down, release the power and volume up buttons. Keep the volume down held down and push the power button. That gets you to the menu. I tried running the other options first, but the phone was acting "Goofy" when we stopped using it a year ago. I'm using it now and it has been trouble free.
I am facing the same issue and tried factory wipe but still having the issue any help?
For most of these issues in comments. Your not connecting everything back The way it was. Everything needs to be 100% otherwise u will have issues
Nice
Thanks
meus parabens
good video
hate the phone..
be careful everybody, when heating phone, coz i burned my speaker... :D, That speakers wery sensitive
Yeah that's what I did. I ordered another one. Comes next week..
Braden Jensen I ordered a "Genuine" one and the speaker just buzzes at full volume so its defo not a real htc one.
Sarah Banister are you on the stock ROM?
Yes i am on Stock ROM =)
anyone else took their HTC device apart and ended up rebuilding a 2nd generation ipod?
6-011101 that's what I plan to do with mine 👍
Damn it's hard :(
+Ivan Boskovic There's definitely a process to this repair. Thanks HTC, right!
Not that easy
Mohammad Ali not at all...
These videos are unrealistic as they don't show you exactly how much glue/adhesive is actually inside this phone anyone trying to replace the screen is simply better off buying a new one as these phones are extremely complicated .. I know because I tried this morning
+rachid qui We do our best to provide as much information as possible. We'll continue to work on providing as much details as possible to assist all our viewers. Thank for watching.
i fix it 😊
was it hard?
how long did it take u?
+ScoopyD the HTC one M8 LCD replacement is a moderately difficult repair. Average repair usually will be under an hour.
+Fixez.com thats totaly right
it takes about 1 hour
I AM going to do it myself.... first repair ever
+ScoopyD just take care
my screen is slightly flickering now
all i did was take the mother board off
