I've been playing guitar for years: yeah, I'm pretty good but I've also felt something was missing for years. Just very recently realized it was the soulful singing voices of these slide guitars. Just ordered one for the first time & can't wait to get it! Tired of all the fancy crap-it really does get boring after awhile, but that soulful sound I'll never tire of.
You are a truly talented young man, and I find your music to be almost hypnotic. I very much enjoy the sound your a coaxing out of your guitar with your hands! Play on brother!
+Candyrat Records I'm at that stage were I feel I can't get better. I can play Calum Graham - Waiting as my best piece. Do you have any tips that I could use please, I'm desperate to play like this.
+Nathan Burton Hey man I just thought I would say that whenever Antoine Dufour (I'm going to assume you know him, but just in case you don't, you have to check him out) is asked by a fan or fellow guitarist how they can improve, he always says explore other genres of music. Even if you have no interest in them, broaden your playing to as many different types of music as you possibly can. It's probably the reason why people regard Dufour as one of the great creative engineers for guitar playing, with his ability to simulate the sound of other instruments on his guitar so well. Further to that, a tip I would give (though I am not a master guitarist by any means whatsoever) is that once you know how to use various techniques (so for example if you know how to use a slide guitar like in this video, or know how to play one-handed harmonics and harmonic slaps, or know how to keep a fluid right-hand technique and have a strong upstroke etc etc whatever other fancy techniques you come across in the world of guitar), try and write your own songs with them. Learning others' stuff is fantastic, but the "talent gap" always seems bigger than it is because these guys wrote the song. They will always have the edge in playing that kind of stuff. When you write your own song, and have spent so long working at it so you can play every part perfectly with seemless fluidity, everybody else will look at it and think of it as a masterpiece that would be a crazy level to reach in their own playing. I think it's very much about becoming the master of your own playing. Anyway, I hope this is of some use. I wish you the best in your playing.
+Nathan Burton -- make your own stuff. play what you want, with your heart. Simply learn to play like this etc. You will probably notice you aren't as amazing as you think, and that can also bring you forward in interesting places. Covers aren't impressive, to me at least.
+carelessbear I understand where you are coming from, you learn from others to create piece that come from your own heart. Im very in touch with my guitar, I think Im struggling to found my sound though.
+edallencompassingly It means a lot that you would take the time to write your comment to me, I think it's time I went far away to learn my own ways. I want to feel the same goose bumps from my own pieces as i do with this one.
