The story of how you acquired this killed me , a few tears for sure . Lost my brother from the same disease 18 years ago . You have a Great Heart & Soul. I'm sure the elderly parents are smiling when they hear this instrument in your very capable hands . Glad you owe it versus a collector . Play on .
Dear Cindy: You are a terrific example of a musician to emulate. I am 70+ years old and just began learning lap steel. I want to be just like you when I grow up.
I'm really really glad you have this guitar. You are a wonderful custodian of it and are a blessing to the parents for giving them the recording! Class act!
Cindy, thank you for sharing the sound of this wonderful instrument and the story of how you came upon it and gave it the home it deserves. What an instrument!
Such a special and touching background on the family and their late son. I could cry. Your 27 is in amazing condition. Big bucks, yep, I bought the Goldtone Weissenbourne a while back which I like a lot. This week I am so stoked to obtain a far lesser quality, great sounding artsy backwoods treasure, The primitive, "WISHenbourne" made by an eclectic Appalachian builder. Anyway missed you in Nashville way back when for Arlen Roth's Slide Summit with some of our good friends who performed. Maybe next time you are in town. Peace, much love and respect. Jodi Anna
Good to see you again. IWe met at Dallas Ft Worth AWA Awards a long time ago. I am working on C. Kanutsen. I heard it was the precursor to the Weisenborn. Have you heard of them? This one was made in Seattle, Wa. It had some cracks in the top and back and the binding had separated in a few places, but I’m almost done with it The tuners don’t match so I will be looking for parts or another set that will look right. Want some photos? I also have an old Weisenbor as well. I love. The sound of it. I’m hoping that the C. KANUTSEN IS AS MELODIC.
I don't see Cindy's hair blowin' in the breeze??? Still a great video. Lovely sounding and beautiful instrument. Cindy's such an elegant guitarist. An awesome talent with such an understated style.
I have traveled far and heard many beaautful guitars, but nothing as lovely as this. Please pardon me but you two belong together. When you play this I imagine even God smiles.
That is the first Hermann I have heard, or seen. That has the sweetest, richest, bell tone tone I personally have heard. The projection is huge. Very impressive coming out of a high end sound system. Now I want one. LOL!
Wiseman guitars are making handmade 100% koa Weissenborn Guitars from fallen Big Island Koa. You should check them out if you are in the market for a lap steel guitar made with the best wood on the planet. Aloha!
Nearly £2000 for a guitar like this, doesn't really sound like that much... I mean, for a guitar that sounds like this, i can't think of many better investments, as well as great instruments as they are.
There’s no way it’s all one piece. At minimum it’s three, but more likely, it’s four. Top, back, and two side pieces. I suppose you could bend the sides from one piece, but why would you? Also, the top and back are likely two pieces each which would mean 6 pieces. Don’t get me started on internal bracing and the head stock.
Nice! I wouldn't have expected koa to sound so nice, the koa I've seen is always so burly, seems it would dampen. Apparently that is a thought no longer for me. Thanks!

Great story and the guitar does ring, she does the slack key so well.
My god she is good. In anyone else's hands the beauty wouldn't be revealed.
Man that was awesome!
Ooooh, that thing sounds good with her behind the wheel!!
Koa seems to have a uniquely bright sound that I don't often hear from other woods
That is the first Hermann I have heard, or seen. That has the sweetest, richest, bell tone tone I personally have heard. The projection is huge. Very impressive coming out of a high end sound system. Now I want one. LOL!
Beautiful sounding instrument, played wonderfully!!

I was about to change the station when you swept me off my feet!
Maravilloso instrumento, tocado con mucha delicadeza.
Sweet. What tuning is that?
i'm guessing its some sort of open tuning right? sounds beautiful
It's in open D.
D A D F# A D, low to high.
Great sound! Do you ever play live in Austin?

And even now, "It's still going!"

If you love this lady she plays on the masterpiece cd by ryan Adams "COLD ROSES" ALL TGE WAY THROUGH
So cool that she saved it from jackass collectors who would have never played it!
open tuning? E?
what does "one piece" mean? Does it mean that there is no joint in the top or back?? Thanks.
I know it's been a while, but yes, that's right. The guitar was crafted from a single piece of wood, hollowed out.
Very good from NORWAY nice
You guys in a wind storm?
Nearly £2000 for a guitar like this, doesn't really sound like that much...

Would of been nice to hear it longer...
sounds like open "D"

Agreed. "One piece" just makes no sense.
