Dave…thanks for doing yeoman’s work. Game is on the table but I’ve been slow on getting through the rules, so having an example to follow will be incredibly helpful. I also get a kick out of your struggles with the camera 😊
Nice work. I practically learned how to play Skies Above Britain just from watching the previous video series. Hoping for the same result from this series. Don't let me down!! 🤣
My daughter's fiance got me and my wife a big 72 section Whitman's chocolate candy box for Christmas. I'm using the box to store the many counters for this game. It is very convenient.
I was just thinking on puting the same comment when I read yours. 🙂 But thanks to @davegamingcave7862 as with his video I realized that I was executing the Search Segment once per phase, not per turn. My search planes were equiped with jets! 😀
Put away Aces of Valor this afternoon (loved it) and had to choose between opening this or Task Force by Vuka. Chose Task Force because after watching the beginning of this, it appeared simpler. After opening it, it appeared a lot less solo friendly than I hoped, so I put it away and started clipping counters for this. This is starting to look like a handful, hope I didn’t swing and miss with both. Get me thru this one Dave!!!!
I just played it once (I mean Aces of Valor) just to learn the game and see how it works. I believe that it's mandatory to use all the optional rules that gives you more realism.
This game is a waste of time and based on a naval battle that the U.S. Navy was never going to lose. The only issue in this campaign was the one Halsey created when he abandoned the landing beaches in search of the Japanese carriers so he could have his own “Midway”. Other than that the Japanese strategy was flawed, their aircraft carriers were not fully manned and the U.S. forces were too overwhelming. How do you designed a board game around such a one-sided battle? Pointless. Stick to “Tokyo Express”.
I think the rules imply that, but this game still can shine in learning how to juggle your aircraft and in learning how these battles were fought. I will say, though, that "Tokyo Express" shines in all aspects. It is incredible.
I think your confusing the Battle of Philippine Sea with the Battle of Letye Gulf. The latter is where Halsey went haring off after the reports of Japanese Carriers, and was about 4 months after this battle. Philippine Sea was were the back of Japanese Naval Air was broke (the whole Mariana Turkey Shoot thing). If you have the game (I do) and read the designer's notes, to do well in the fight you have to destroy most of the Japanese carrier force (which Spruance, who was being conservative, did not do). This makes the game more challenging than how the historical battle played out. Additionally, there's a couple of hypothetical scenarios (7, which has an alternate setup from 6) and 9, which is a what if that includes the carreirs sunk at Midway (the 4 from Kido Butai and the Yorktown), and also assumes the experienced Japanese aviators were still around. To each their own, however.
I just finished the first 5 scenario's and now watching your playthrough's of scenario 6. Thanks for the upload and making the effort.
Awesome job doing the videos for this game. Love the decisions you have to make and the uncertainty or where the enemy is at first.

I just purchased this game less than an hour ago...this series better be worth it, Dave!!!
I think you will enjoy it.
Great video! Thx :)

Great VIdeo Dave, I've got this and getting ready to start the training scenarios
For standard searches, you place the radius marker in designated possible choices as on player aid card, not on the searching units.
Thanks for noting that. I will make that correction on my next video.

Great video, Dave. I'm still sticking to the rules of the first scenario, it seems like a good game system.
❤ Great video! I

I don't think you moved task force just the chit you pulled?
Was going to mention this as well. Could play into those search plans!
Why shake the can so much? You are going to destroy your chits. Shake it once and you’re good. 😂😂😂
