Saw gerrera is honestly one of the most tragic characters in starwars considering all the shit he went through in his life especially seeing just how rough of shape he's in by the time we see him in rogue one

People like Mon Mothma won't admit it but every rebellion needs someone like Saw. Wars especially civil wars aren't clean and you need someone like him to make the hard choices and when necessary take the fall for the greater good.
He had issues being a loose cannon, which made his valid points mostly fall on deaf ears...he was right to criticize Mon Mothma for her rebellions passive approach, even accounting for caution, it was clear they were being OVERLY cautious, to the point that by Rogue One, the sentiment got from the meeting we saw was "What are we evening doing here.". He was also ignored and came off as paranoid concerning the hints of the empire building something BIG in the Death Star, dismissed until it had been completed, and rolled up on their door. And unless evidence comes to light later in canon, he ends up forgotten by the Rebellion/New Republic and probably written out of history books, despite having been fighting since the Clone Wars.
Saw Gerrera is probably one of the most real characters in Star Wars, his characters goes through a lot of development from starting out as an eager freedom fighter for his planet to someone who will go to any lengths to stop the Empire dying out in a similar position Vader's in, a shattered body and twisted mind. Reminds me of Floch from AOT to some capacity.
As someone who gave psychosocial support to refugees in the past I love Saw as a character due too his realistic actions. Although his actions are repetitive, it still applies very much in the real world. Remind you that he was one of the first characters that caused the spark of the Rebellion due too his actions on Onderon. He later parted ways with the Rebellion due too his extreme tactics which cared little for collateral damage. Those tactics also caused him to lose his sister blinding him with anger, rage and regret. His character reminds me of Pain from Naruto whom I wrote about years ago in college. Pain lost so much due too other parties who destroyed his nation, that he ultimately became the very thing he hated. Blinded by those emotions he took out not only high ranking opponents but also civilians. Its similair too the refugees I helped from AF and ME and during my time in those places. I've met people who lost their siblings, parents or friends in U.S. airstrikes and during civil war. They were never compensated for those losses, instead they felt attacked by a foreign entity who either directly attacked them or deliberately set up locals against eachother but they did not seek revenge. That's why I love Saw's character and Star Wars. You're no different from the empire once you act like them. In the real world, we might see ourselves as the rebels but who says that we're not the empire and the real rebels are the people we invaded in the name of democracy and freedom while we all knew that national resources were looted and the wrong parties were given financial support which sparked even more division and terror amongst the local population, even locking up those who say the truth (Assange). Anyone, literally anyone can become a rebel or someone who inflicts extreme terror when they go through injustice inflicted by others, especially foreign entities. Saw is a product of his environment, he might be repetitive but his character is as real as it gets. Steela kept him in line, she saw the bigger picture but once he lost her, those uncontrollable feelings only fed his hunger for extreme tactics. Logic is thrown out of the window and the only thing that matters is inflicting damage irregardless of the civilian casualties. That's the irony of men. With the death of Tech in Bad Batch, everyone is all sad and angry but in reality, from his perspective, it was the Batch that sabotaged his mission. We as the spectators witnessed Tech's story, his highs and his lows but if we never were introduced to his character, we would've cared less for his death.

I love Forest Whitaker's Saw. Every line from him can be quotable. Also love his delivery of my favorite line of all time "lies! Deception!. Everyday more lies"
Saw might be one of my favorite characters of the new canon. Here's a man who has fought the Empire with so much ruthlessness and zeal, even hardened Moffs are scared of him. Here's a man who has sacrificed his mind and body in service of the Cause.
Saw begins as freedom fighter, his actions are (for the most part) justified but eventually he becomes a war criminal, he never believes what he does is wrong, blindly charging in his own crusade not thinking about the consequences of his actions just making the excuse of “this is war” his one track focus led to the loss of Tech and the location of Mount Tantiss, countless civilians and even his own soldiers, when Mon Mothma takes a stand against him she is bang on, Saw degraded himself to the level of the empire he sought to destroy, he’s a rebel like Mothma but one who too far
@@othervids3726 Also spoilers even if you condone his more violent ways and guerrilla tactics, at the very least that plan was objectively bad. As tech said even if he succeeded it would have been a temporary victory which wouldn't set the empire back all that far, and their rebellion wouldn't get any good information out of it. I've also seen a reddit tread which mentioned how losing Tarkin would almost benefit the empire, as his methods rallied support for the rebellion. Someone in the thread even mentioned a story in Legends where Tarkin lands his shuttle on protestors. And even if saw couldn't see that--which is fair--it would be far more beneficial to gain knowledge and play the long game--something saw doesn't seem willing to do, at least not at that point in time.

Poor guy. Losing his sister, his first team and the one on Geonosis and Onderon(hope they show us what the Empire did to it one day). Even his lungs became toxic, lost his right leg(only that one, apparently. The other one is most likely very burnt so that he had to encase it in sth.), and even his eyes became brown due to the liquids he needed to live with. And reading the comments, I do see why Saw sometimes did right by doing the extremist option. Showing the Empire they have always had at least a thorn in their side. Sad to know he's got no descendent, relative, or true friend(Benthic and Jyn being the closest thing he's got). Really liked how he told her to save the Rebellion, showing he did care for everyone in it.
So I’m just gonna assume that Vader must’ve sliced off his legs and from that moment Saw was absolutely horrified by that encounter and was the final wall that was needed to fall before Saw went full nuts

I’m really glad Bad Batch had Andrew Kishino change his voice for Saw. I don’t know what they were going for the first time around, but what he does with said voice allows you to more easily hear the transition between his voice in Clone Wars and what I will call “Forest Whitaker era.” Whitaker himself also does a really good job in every era he voices for Saw, giving him a different intonation depending on how he needs to be portrayed.

Interesting they brought back Kishino to reprise in Bad Batch out of respect that this series follows the Clone Wars so they wanted to retain that similar age and voice I guess!
I wonder why he goes from having an American accent to a semi-British accent. I can understand if the transition was gradual but he just abruptly starts speaking like that.
Do you think that might have been the intention Like i still like him in Rebels because of the way they portray his mourning of his sister and destroying the Kyber crystal because he desired to try and hurt the empire Then Bad Batch season 2 comes out and they kind of have him be more arrogant and unlikeable Yet i still like that?? I dunno how to explaim it

Why Disney remove his background in Rogue One… We want to see him in geonosis and get rekt by Vador !
Please do a serie or a spin-of on him
Saw Gerrera spent years of his life looking for a supposed super weapon only to be killed by said weapon at his weakest
Here after andor trailer 😉
First appeared in Clone Wars and last appeared in Rouge One.
Needs to be updated after yesterday’s bad batch finale
and i thought old man luke was bad but saw has gone to dowhill since stella and the betrayed by the republic
loses his both legs to vader
his sanity and lung cancer
he’s so broken no wonder he wanted to die badly
and finally found peace….death
Where does it say he lost his legs to vader
I never knew this guy was in Clone Wars. That’s pretty cool
This video will need an update haha
great complimation that portrays Saw through his story, though you might want to update it with Andor now fully out.
Interesting they brought back Kishino to reprise in Bad Batch out of respect that this series follows the Clone Wars so they wanted to retain that similar age and voice I guess!
Of course
He is still young during the bad batch he won't turn to Forest until Jedi Fallen Order.
7:43 Józef Piłsudski moneta
What the FUCK happened to saw between rebels and rogue one
The pesticide used to while out the geonosians damaged his lungs
I wonder why he goes from having an American accent to a semi-British accent. I can understand if the transition was gradual but he just abruptly starts speaking like that.
Lucasfilm does a much better job at maintaining a shared universe compared to the MCU. The closest we got was a Jarvis and Daredevil cameo.
Forrest Whitaker is the best Saw Gerrera but Andrew Kishinos voice is still good.
Like on Return of the Jedi, I said to Saw. This is for you, Saw. The end of the war has finally ended.
Thank you for this video
So fire that cal met this guy
Saw Gevara
I think everyone hate saw gerrera for it make tech's death and killed brom titus.
time for the Andor update
I didn't even know he was in The Clone Wars and Rebels
He is so amazing in Andor
Saw died in rogue one😢😢😢😢
The decent of saw gurerra
Best character in the show
Like, respect BRO!
I love Saw’s character, but after the Season 2 finale of Bad Batch, I really despise him. If you know, you know
Do you think that might have been the intention
Like i still like him in Rebels because of the way they portray his mourning of his sister and destroying the Kyber crystal because he desired to try and hurt the empire
Then Bad Batch season 2 comes out and they kind of have him be more arrogant and unlikeable
Yet i still like that?? I dunno how to explaim it
So when did he lose his leg?
Looks like he lost both his legs actually. Would love for the next time we see him post rebels he’s in some explosion because of some betrayal and looses both his legs. Would make more explanation of his unhinged paranoid personality in Rough one which would be cool to see
@@karamshahin2771 also by rogue one it seems he needs an oxygen breathing thing
@@theuncommonn00b12 probably from that presumed explosion
@@karamshahin2771 Actually it's due to his extended stay on Geonosis
@@fadillangston9797 he don’t got it during the Kyber Ep
Oh wow I thought he was like some Rogue One character who then turned up in Andor. I should’ve watched Clone Wars
Edit: Have binged Clone Wars. I cannot believe the Jedi trained terrorist cells. Now binging Rebels.
teccitin posion saw gerrera had suffered which cause his eye color changes over the years
