Imagine buying a ticket to the Philharmonic and getting to hear Pavarotti and Morris. Audiences in the '80s were only beginning to know how good they had it, and that soon it would be gone.
no arguing when people that sang with him and conductors and composers and all musical experts say he is the best male voice of all time, I go with that.
Pavarotti, Bonisolli, Kraus, and Gedda were by far the best of the 60-90's. Blake and Merritt should also be added as specialist in the Bel Canto Repertoire.
No movement of the shoulders, no excessive opening of the mouth, rock solid breath support. He found the classic Italian technique more or less on his own.
Del Monaco yes but he is always known exclusively as a student of Melocchi because it was he who taught Del Monaco the technique he used throughout his career.
I like watching his bow tie vibrate. and his breathing, some little lady in the chorus once used to watch him from the wings, just to watch how his diaphragm worked, she said it was like iron. Amazing technique taught to him by Joan Sutherland.
Luciano was in great shape!!! Not a "Verdiaholic" but always great!!!

@@absdyna He didnt really need to read it, he lived it, breathed it and felt it.
