This was absolutely the best video educating on men’s hair. I loved every single tip and even found #2 to be the most relatable. For all of my teenage years, I always did the mid-fade sides with a short-medium top. It is totally true that with an undercut fade, it’s pretty high maintenance that needs a cut every 2-3 weeks. Since the last 8 months (in my younger 20s), I’ve been embracing longer hair by first doing a modern mullet where it’s longer top and back with short sides. Now I totally want to grow an 80s George Michael hairstyle and embrace that “flow” look. I have the length for the top and back, now to enjoy the process of growing the sides until it reaches a point where it’ll flow back which will probably take a couple months. I’ve definitely been interested in hair care the past few weeks and this video was easily the most informative and helpful. Thanks a ton!

For those wondering about losing their hair (including Andrew who comments that he's receding), hair loss is a fixable problem in the far FAR majority of cases. If you are experiencing any kind of hair loss like receding, thinning or just having your hands full every time you run your hands through it then you are not alone. The key in this is to act as soon as possible because the further it progresses the harder it is to regain that ground. Fixing this consists of a couple key things. The first is finasteride, that is used to lower the DHT in your body. DHT is the very thing that is very important when you are growing, but doesn't do much when you are fully grown. But if you are sensitive to DHT then it will attack your hair follicles and cause it to fall out. By taking finasteride every day, you ensure that DHT can no longer do damage to your hair. The typical dose is 1mg per day, but can also be reduced to .5 or .25 per day while still being quite effective. The goal is to at least be stable, but some users also report regrowth from using it. The second is dutasteride. That is basically finasteride but way stronger. While it is more potent, the half-life period is also way longer. This is for when finasteride does not do enough for you. But also harder to come by in a lot of countries. The third is minoxidil. While scientists still don't exactly know how it works, it can lead to a lot more hair growth than finasteride or dutasteride can. The problem is that any gains from minoxidil use is tied, which means that it will only grow or stay for as long as you use it. It also is not a substitute for fin/dut because the inner workings are very different. You should use at least fin while using minoxidil. The fourth is microneedling. While not being very effective by itself, it can be quite powerful when combined with topical minoxidil. Be aware that it does pose some risk, hence why it is not recommended to only microneedle without using minoxidil. If I read my own comment around 5 years earlier I would have way better hair right now. But now I have been on fin for around 1,5 years and also had my hair transplant just two months ago. If you have the option to act now, please do it and thank me later.

a 20yo woman here....just got a wolf cut, I have wavy and very thick and voluminous hair, the hairdresser straightened my hair after getting a wolf cut and it looked EXACTLY as I wanted it to look. 3 days later I oil and then shampoo wash my hair (+conditioner) and I SO INSTANTLY REGRETTED...I look like a 13 yo school boy but after listening to this man I got so much motivation to fix it...my hair became thicker and wavy after wash, so the style I was looking for has completely gone...but now I am very excited and confident to explore more of what suits my hair and what doesn't....this video was an absolute lifesaver even for a woman like me who doesn't like to use 100 products on the hair and neither has the time or energy to blow dry or straighten it everyday😅
Can you do a video like this for black guys with very short hair like from bald to dreads and stuff, help us like understand head shape length, width and what kind of hairstyle would suit them. I’ve wanted to go long but I’ve found a short haircut that is suites me well😅. Help Ooo
14:35 Yeah, you just have to try it, but if you do, and it does work - it really does do miracles. I've always had terrible issues with dandruff, but after I stopped using shampoo when washing my hair, all of them went away. It just works, no dandruff anymore. About other products though, I just use some hairstyling gel after I wash my hair to make it _stay_ puffy. I can get my hair to be puffy with just a blow-drier, but if I don't use a gel, then it will lay back down as the day goes by.
I'm definitely in the phase of longer more clean business like flow hairstyle now in my late 20s after getting fades most of my life where I have to get a haircut almost 2x per month which definitely adds up especially with the prices of haircuts these days almost creeping up. Now I can experiment in crafting and styling my hair more to fit a more grown professional look and only having to go to the barber maybe every 2-3 months for a quick clean up so it's not too unkempt.
@@plex1. Went pretty good, I was going for a messy fringe type cut, but the barber gave me a mix of messy fringe and messy quiff, not that I complain. It looks good on me when I give it a rub to make it look messy. It can also be combed to give a neat look. So, it's kind of the cut I've wanted. It's easily last me 1.5-2 weeks. 8.5/10 cut.
I have listened to a lot of these influencers on yt and after a while I gave up on the blow dryer but after listening to this guy I think I’m going to give it a second chance and trust his 20 years of experience
as i was about 16 i found the best hair cutter for me. he spoiled me so much and it was the first time i really experienced to be in the presence of a really good professional hair cutter who could connect to me and my hair. he touched my hair every time i went in and we changed things bit by bit and he could tell me exactly on what to change to suit a specific hairstyle to me. he left when i was 22 and I never got in touch with him again and ever since i'm stuck in finding a hair cutter who could even provide me 33% of what he did. i gave so many hair cutter a chance and paid from 15€ to 80€ for a haircut and almost everyone don't like the style i like and seemingly can't even style it. most time i have to convince them to make it like i want and honestly if the hair cutter is ignoring wide spread trends, talk them down and are unwilling to style and cut them, i lose trust in them. as a naive customer my though is, that the cut should be suited for the style one is going after and that the hair cutter should know or teach me how to style my hair but almost none of them do which makes me feel that the hair cutter is not the right for me. also what i noticed in germany is that the hair cutters can be placed in two categories: 1. german hair cutters (normal hair salon) and 2. mostly foreign hair cutters/barbers (barber shops). the first group is so bound by what they learned and look downwards to barber shops like hair styles and won't do it or do it but fail at them. they can handle top hair good and give some good advice but when it comes to the sides they lack experience and want to distance them from the "barber" style. the second group provide more mainstream cuts and are really good at them specially when it comes to cutting the sides but they lack complexity and most struggle to cut the top hair. some times i went to a german hair cutter and then to a barber to finish off the things the german hair cutter won't do like making a fade starting from 0mm. honestly it's really sad to search and search for a suitable hair cutter for me but not finding one and i don't think i have to much expectations but maybe like i said in the beginning the one hair cutter really spoiled me.
Trying to grow a flow. It’s painful. I live in a small town and every single barber does the same basic hair cut. Fades. Everyone does fades, no one knows how to cut a flow, nor style it. Always leave looking like I got out of the shower. Hair flat, wet, zero volume. I hate it. I don’t want to be the guy having to research how to do their job, I want them to know how to do cuts. Send help.
well some barber just don't want to bother with the "style" part. I go to a barber where except a little bit of texturiser, everything else is adding to bill, despite the package i pay for being called "cut and styling". But I still go there because she's good at the "cut" part. So what do you want is just seeking a barber who just understand hair and haircut. Maybe try to find one with a "facialist" degree ( we say "visagiste" in france) those are the one who will just do well because they really understand balance, proportion... so what you show to them, even if they don't do that often, the will get your point at least to some level. basic barber see the photo, don't know how the hell to do that, and instead of being honest with you they try something and it looks horrible. Don't waste time and money on those. Good baber try to replicate "key point" of the cut of the photo, it might not look exactly like on the pic but if they understand their job, they will go step by step and re-asking you if you like like that or maybe cut shorter, fading here etc... and the results will be good nonetheless, and you both will understand more what to ask, cut, how much, when to stop, ect... for the next time. Sorry for the yap, but in conclusion you can also just try styling at home, different product, different technique... for volume texturizer on wet hair + hairdryer + hairspray are a good combo.
My hair is extremely straight but I’m growing it out rn because I want that long “flow look”… it looks super awkward but it will all be worth it in the end.

My routine is no products, loose fit caps only, massage the scalp in shower everyday, 3/4 dry hair with towel & let the rest dry naturally, white rice water soak hair once every couple months. Every time I've gone to a hairdresser they've said I have great hair, I don't tell them my routine but they'd probably laugh and be intrigued at the same time
One thing people may want to keep in mind which I don’t hear many people talk about is shower times. Showers can be much simpler and shorter with short hair
00:29 💇♂ Seek professional advice for finding the perfect hairstyle as they have an in-depth understanding of hair behavior and can provide personalized recommendations. 02:49 🧔 Many current hair trends focus on longer-lasting styles that require less frequent maintenance, such as haircuts that can be stretched for two months or more. 05:10 👔 Your hairstyle should complement your overall style and vibe, considering factors like clothing, footwear, and lifestyle. 08:00 🔄 Leaning into your hair's natural tendencies, including texture and growth patterns, is key to finding the perfect hairstyle that suits you. 11:29 🌱 During the awkward phase of growing your hair long, maintain the sides and back, and let the top grow to achieve a balanced look. 12:11 💆♂ Maintaining a healthy hair care routine includes a balanced diet, managing stress, and avoiding extreme practices. Common concerns like hat-wearing or using hairspray typically don't damage hair significantly. 14:05 💇 Regularly blow drying short hair is unlikely to cause damage; trimming the ends is more common. 14:33 🚿 The "no shampoo" trend can work wonders for some people, so it'sworth trying to skip shampoo for a couple of weeks to see how your hair responds. 16:27 💆 Fixing frizzy, dry, or coarse hair can involve embracing your natural texture, using moisturizing products, or opting for long-term treatments like keratin. 18:06 👴 Dealing with thinning hair often involves choosing hairstyles that work with your thinning pattern and not trying to hide it completely. 20:11 💨 The hairdryer can be a versatile tool to change your hair's appearance, adding volume, reducing volume, adding shine, and reshaping it without the need for excessive products. Regularly blow drying your hair a bit longer can yield great results.

Over the next few years I'm predicting the 60s/90s mod and 70s shag coming back but with a modern emo/grunge/scene look, it makes sence since longer, low maintenance hairstyles are back
My hair struggle is mostly finding a good hairdresser/barber. I have heavy, thick, wavy hair, and most hairdressers where I live have only experience with normal straight hair. I always ask beforehand; 'Do you have experience with wavy hair?' 'Yes'. Am there. 'I have wavy hair, and I like to keep it wavy, please cut it with that in mind' 'No, no, you have straight hair' (while cutting it slightly wet. Due to it's heaviness it can look straight when it's wet and combed) End of the haircut, they start modeling it 'Huh, I guess you do have wavy hair. Oops'. This happened three times in one year, all totally different hairdressers. I've really lost trust in hairdressers, they all really messed up my hairstyle in different ways and my progress with growing my hair out. I'm really pissed at the third one when I corrected her multiple times and she kept insisted I had straight hair. Looking back I should've walked out the moment she wouldn't listen (always easy to think afterward). I started cutting it myself, and while it looks kinda like I cut it myself, it's still better than the end result of those hairdressers. I wish I could find a hairdresser like this guy. I just wished hairdressers could cough up they don't have experience with a certain type of hair and direct you to someone else who could.
Same here, hair is very coarse/thick. It is wavy and even curly at times. I wish it was straight because styling it would be way easier, i use a flat iron every day for it. The wet part is so true. When its wet it is basically straight and then when it dries it gets all bad again. None of the hair stylists ive been too have really worked. I found one guy that has 30 years of experience, and also does Brazilian blowouts so I might ask about one of those if i go.

If you go for no shampoo dont wet your hair or if you wet it you can apply conditioner, now i only use shampoo once very week or when a sweat and the changes are amazing, no dandruff, no spiky hair, it doesnt smell like shampoo but it does not stink, its more manageable, its softer, for me it looks better and feels better but if you wet it and dont apply conditioner or shampoo you will need to pass an akward phase of dandruff, itchiness and greasy hair for like 1 or 2 weeks until your hair gets used to your new method
I grow out and buzz all my hair off every 2-3 years. Somehow ended up here form fashion youtube. I honestly don't believe there's a true awkward phase of growing your hair out, at least not for me. At all lengths there are days where I love and hate my hair with no difference in frequency. As long as you actually try to do something interesting with your hair and aren't afraid to change it up if something isn't working that day, any length of hair can look good.
Not shampooing my hair worked for me! For months I have severe dandruff, and it's exactly a week ago that I start not using anti-dandruff shampoo. I use only scalp scrub from now on and from time to time I use coconut milk-no it's not DIY, it's our tradition. It's way better! My hair's so silky and nutty smelling my girlfriend loves it.
I truly have not used shampoo in over 3 months........ I condition it ever 2 or 3 days and honestly there's no smell or dandruff ect. Everyone is shocked when i tell them that, but it trult has made my hair look 20x better and removed the frizziness i used to fight when i started growing it out. Dont know if i will forever keep this habit, but its been going pretty well for the past yearish now

I had like 4 or 5 guys that asked me what haircut I do, and honestly i have no idea, I go to the same barber for more than 10 years, and every time i asked to do something a little different from the previous cut , always changing something, testing it out, letting it grow for 1 month, some times 4 months, and I think i know my hair pretty well now and what types of haircut suits me, as my barber knows too, everytime I ask something he does it perfectly, and even adjust some stuff I didnt know

I've been watching this guy for years and if you liked this video definitely check out his channel hes one of the few hair channels that just speaks facts and isn't trying to sell you something.
Man I hadn't felt this passion coming from some one in a long LONG time, its so contagious, thank you so much! I didn't expect such a deep dive into this topic, I'm so pumped hsahahh
a 20yo woman here....just got a wolf cut, I have wavy and very thick and voluminous hair, the hairdresser straightened my hair after getting a wolf cut and it looked EXACTLY as I wanted it to look.
An absolute masterpiece of a video. A must-watch for every man out there.
Really good video, it absolutly didnt feel like 20 mins. A masterclass in hair
This channel has aesthetic editing + practical advice. Love it. Cheers.

any plans for cheaper shipping to Europe?
Hey I got question about the not shampooing should I still use conditioner or just only use water and brush no products at all?
He is very articulate. I'm not a guy I just like listening to him.
This was a masterclass in understanding hair and haircuts. Lot to unpack here. Amazing content 🔥
Andrew is the GOAT, this man understands hair
14:35 Yeah, you just have to try it, but if you do, and it does work - it really does do miracles. I've always had terrible issues with dandruff, but after I stopped using shampoo when washing my hair, all of them went away. It just works, no dandruff anymore.
About other products though, I just use some hairstyling gel after I wash my hair to make it _stay_ puffy. I can get my hair to be puffy with just a blow-drier, but if I don't use a gel, then it will lay back down as the day goes by.
Guy picked the worst hair for himself
i was thinking the same thing lol
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
dont aim for barbers who have the best haircut themselves cuz then theres someone better
I think his hairs thinning and he’s trying to salvage it
Coach never plays!
I can't thank you enough for always provide us with valuable information to help us improve ourselves 🙌🏻
Thank you so much bro, I have to go for a haircut in like 30min-1hour and I really needed this. Thanks again brotha. 🔥🙏
Let us know how it goes
@@RoxlnnBRWill do.
How did it go
No shampoo for two to three weeks is the best thing I have ever done for my hair. It used to get dry and frizzy until I stopped using shampoo.
u only used conditioner for 2-3 weeks then? or just wet it in the shower?

the best video i've ever seen on hair. love it man, keep up the good and honest work.
as i was about 16 i found the best hair cutter for me. he spoiled me so much and it was the first time i really experienced to be in the presence of a really good professional hair cutter who could connect to me and my hair. he touched my hair every time i went in and we changed things bit by bit and he could tell me exactly on what to change to suit a specific hairstyle to me.
he left when i was 22 and I never got in touch with him again and ever since i'm stuck in finding a hair cutter who could even provide me 33% of what he did.
i gave so many hair cutter a chance and paid from 15€ to 80€ for a haircut and almost everyone don't like the style i like and seemingly can't even style it. most time i have to convince them to make it like i want and honestly if the hair cutter is ignoring wide spread trends, talk them down and are unwilling to style and cut them, i lose trust in them.
as a naive customer my though is, that the cut should be suited for the style one is going after and that the hair cutter should know or teach me how to style my hair but almost none of them do which makes me feel that the hair cutter is not the right for me.
also what i noticed in germany is that the hair cutters can be placed in two categories: 1. german hair cutters (normal hair salon) and 2. mostly foreign hair cutters/barbers (barber shops).
the first group is so bound by what they learned and look downwards to barber shops like hair styles and won't do it or do it but fail at them. they can handle top hair good and give some good advice but when it comes to the sides they lack experience and want to distance them from the "barber" style.
the second group provide more mainstream cuts and are really good at them specially when it comes to cutting the sides but they lack complexity and most struggle to cut the top hair.
some times i went to a german hair cutter and then to a barber to finish off the things the german hair cutter won't do like making a fade starting from 0mm.
honestly it's really sad to search and search for a suitable hair cutter for me but not finding one and i don't think i have to much expectations but maybe like i said in the beginning the one hair cutter really spoiled me.
Go to a woman's hairdresser. They're way better with volume, layers, longer etc
Try to go to a city with a unisex salon, you will be charged more but will be really worth it with the styling and it will last longer as well
Me watching with a buzzcut
My hair is extremely straight but I’m growing it out rn because I want that long “flow look”… it looks super awkward but it will all be worth it in the end.
Motion design for this video is incredible.

00:02 Seek professional advice for finding the perfect hairstyle.
01:44 Start with a basic haircut to understand how your hair acts and what you like or don't like about it.
05:08 Find suitable hair by embracing natural characteristics
06:37 Find the perfect haircut that fits your lifestyle and reflects who you are.
09:37 Long top and short sides for a trendy look
11:13 Growing out your hair can be low maintenance if you shape it up and have a plan along the way.

15:42 Don't believe marketing lies about hair damage and shampoo

Im growing last haircut 2months ago
Regularly blow drying your hair a bit longer can yield great results.
wow great help!!
i have never seen someone with such in depth knowledge about a certain subject and the way he was talking by using his hand gestures is just amazing. this is a really good video brother. keep up with the good work!!!!
Such hairstylists are blessing
Over the next few years I'm predicting the 60s/90s mod and 70s shag coming back but with a modern emo/grunge/scene look, it makes sence since longer, low maintenance hairstyles are back
They way he says " if you need to learn anything more " shows off how much information he just gave in one go
Thank you i literally needed this
Absolutely amazing video the best one I've seen on hair so far
My hair struggle is mostly finding a good hairdresser/barber. I have heavy, thick, wavy hair, and most hairdressers where I live have only experience with normal straight hair. I always ask beforehand;
'Do you have experience with wavy hair?'
'Yes'.
Am there.
'I have wavy hair, and I like to keep it wavy, please cut it with that in mind'
'No, no, you have straight hair' (while cutting it slightly wet. Due to it's heaviness it can look straight when it's wet and combed)
End of the haircut, they start modeling it
'Huh, I guess you do have wavy hair.
Sorry to hear, where do you live? I have thick wavy Asian hair and I found a really good hairdresser in Chicago.
@@Fitguitarplayer6789
The Netherlands :P
But awesome you found a good hairdresser!
@@Fitguitarplayer6789I also have thick Asian wavy hair and live in Chicago. Who’s your hairdresser??
@@LBLbLbbbb her name is Cecilia. Google George Charles Salon and go to their website. You can book an appointment there. Or you can Google Cecilia the stylist Chicago

This is probably the best general video on hair philosophy for men. I swear he covered everything you possibly would have questions on.
I especially love his consideration of maybe it's not your hair but how you're thinking about it that's the problem. Especially growing out of adolescence I feel like that was a big issue; until You learn to turn your hair's weaknesses into strengths.
Wow this video was the most helpful hair video I've seen in no joke years! Thank you!
as a barber, this video puts to words what we do and how we feel. Great job man.
I have a haircut later today... perfect timing!
The fact that you release a man haircare line and have the specialist talk about no shampooing in a good way shows that to you the facts matter more than your income 👏🏼

If you go for no shampoo dont wet your hair or if you wet it you can apply conditioner, now i only use shampoo once very week or when a sweat and the changes are amazing, no dandruff, no spiky hair, it doesnt smell like shampoo but it does not stink, its more manageable, its softer, for me it looks better and feels better
but if you wet it and dont apply conditioner or shampoo you will need to pass an akward phase of dandruff, itchiness and greasy hair for like 1 or 2 weeks until your hair gets used to your new method
I love this video. I’ll take note of these tips on my next haircut (I just had one few hours ago 😅).
I found that shampooing only once or twice a week works best for me. I have straight, black, coarse, slightly oily hair for context :)
Man, every man needs to sit with this atleast once in their lifetime
Dont know if i will forever keep this habit, but its been going pretty well for the past yearish now
13:13 My aunt used to wear a visor every day, and it got to a point where you could see the line. It definitely does affect your hair, or it could just be a personal hair thing.
It's surprising how accurate it is as a teenager the haircut he said is now common for people around my age, since it's basically exactly what I have, and the picture of Christian Bale's Batman is the cherry on top since I based my hairstyle on exactly that.
Perfect video at the perfect time
This guy knows what he's saying. Def like
I have real thick curly hair and I shampoo 1 a week and works great with my hair but that’s just mine. Side note if you want to not wash your hair with shampoo be careful using hair gels and hair spray.

On the no shampoo thing, I’ve been using only Castile soap for years to wash my hair. Maybe it’s not for everyone but my hair and scalp has been super nice and healthy. I use one soap to do everything and my wife hates it.
I had like 4 or 5 guys that asked me what haircut I do, and honestly i have no idea, I go to the same barber for more than 10 years, and every time i asked to do something a little different from the previous cut , always changing something, testing it out, letting it grow for 1 month, some times 4 months, and I think i know my hair pretty well now and what types of haircut suits me, as my barber knows too, everytime I ask something he does it perfectly, and even adjust some stuff I didnt know
Thank god. I was gonna get a cut tmr 🔥

2:30 - I honestly can't see the difference between the Slicked Back, Quiff or Pomp. They all like like varying lengths of the same type of haircut.
