It’s total bs. As an Australian, I can tell you this is not true as our toilets don’t actually flush in circular motion. We have half as much water in our toilet bowl and so when flushed the water is just pushed around the rim on all sides and forced down the pipes.
I have a couple of these! One is a wristwatch, the other in on my wall in my office at work. They are both Goofy themed. Excellent conversation starter!
That’s wrong though. It indicates where mechanical clocks were first made to copy sundials, not where sundials were first made. If the first sundial WAS made in the southern hemisphere, and the idea migrated north, they would have to switch directions in making the sundials. So we would have exactly the same result if the sundial was invented in the southern hemisphere and the clock in the northern.
Well it’s believed to originate from Egypt which is the north, and this is a weird caveat to make as the ones who invented clocks invented a better form of time and were in the north because the way the clock moved. You said this is wrong then said “if” as your argument.
@@eliyarrows2456 his logic is wrong. I agree it may well have originated in Egypt. But the direction the hands go on a clock are indicative of how sundials worked where the clock was invented. Sundial shadows move counterclockwise in the southern hemisphere. When you look up to the sky in let's say, The USA, the sun moves from left to right, in Australia, you see it moving from right to left.
That's a myth. They could spin the opposite direction, if no other factors came in to play. But it is very difficult to eliminate all other factors that would govern the direction water swirls as it drains. The geometry of the jets has a lot more control over the circulation direction than the Coriolis effect.

Couterclock wise clocks are still being used at barber shops so its readable in the mirror
Also backwards clocks are used in some bars where patrons could see the time in the mirrors.
