    I like older interiors on cars way better than all the new ones with IPads on the front dash.

      It’s only a matter of opinion. Personally though, I like more of a combination of physical buttons and a touch screen. My 2016 Ford Escape has the optional Sync 3 System along with physical buttons underneath it’s touch screen. I like it because it still keeps physical buttons for the climate control system and everything else on the dash without having to use the touch screen to change the climate control and etc., like you have to do in a Tesla. And of course, I also like older dash styles as well. But I also like older vehicles, like this 2001 Chevy Impala. I like to have a clean and simple to use dash setup, wether if it’s in a older vehicle or a newer vehicle like my Escape.

    I have an '05 with almost 70,000 miles on it. I had to have the tie rod ends and intake manifold gaskets replaced (under the extended warrenty) and had to have the brakes all redone. From what people have said these cars had issues with the brake componants going bad early on. I know about the intake manifold gasket issue too, luckily I was able to get mine replaced before the warrenty ran out. Mine has a 3.4, not the 3.8, so hopefully by '05 they made worked the kinks out of it. I haven't had any real issues, knock on wood. Its been a great car, I have no plans on replacing it anytime soon.

      My grandparents had a 2000-2005 Chevy Impala. (Not sure which engine their’s had, but it was a nice vehicle.) To this day, this car certainly reminds me of how my Grandparents loved Chevy’s, back when they both were still alive. 😢

  • @stickdog100
    @stickdog100 12 років тому +4

    Yeah. It's wonderful. My grandparents bought a 2000 Impala, pretty much the same, and it's very comfortable. They used to regularly drive it from Houston to Albuquerque and back, and they bought it because it was the most comfortable car they could find.

    The SS trim in that bodystyle Impala did not come out till 04, so that car you were driving was the top of the line Impala for 2001. Those 3.8's can really move. Nice choice for lunch by the way!!!

    Presently have a 2004 Impala (base) that's going on 220k miles. Had it since I was still in high school. 5 years & around $3800 in repairs later, it's gotten the job done; much less survived COUNTLESS joyrides & daytrips!
    However, I'm personally surprised that the tranny never failed on this thing; not only has it occasionally mis-shifted after the lights, but its performance uphill is deplorable; punch it uphill and acceleration is miniscule at best (if not DECLINING) AND the check engine light starts flashing!
    Head gasket blew, I believe at around 120k; heard either these or ALL GM sedans from this era were NOTORIOUS for this eventually happening, but whatever...

    Part 1-
    I got 01 3.8 LS about 1.5 years ago, 1st day ran smooth no overheating but when I got it into town it didn't shift very good, thing was almost completely out of transmission fluid, who knows how long it was driven like that, filled her up fixed the leak, shifted fine. 2 days after that the engine blew up, no warning signs at all, just tried to pass a truck on freeway and literally blew hole in the engine. Put junk yard engine in it after changing head gaskets and all that good stuff.

      The Impala of this era probably a rides more firmly than a Century/Regal, but it no doubt has sportier, firmer steering compared to the Century's soft, slow steering. If you prefer sporty steering over softness, this is the car for you.

    I've had similar problems, bought an '01 3.4 a few months ago, got it for cheap knowing that there were a few small things it needed like a couple wheel bearings, a battery, a light, etc. and I used to work at a garage so I can get very cheap labor paid in cash.
    About a week in when checking the fluids I realized I had oil in my antifreeze, and one day it almost completely overheated.

    I was doing absolutely nothing with it. First the ABS system failed so a new EBCM was put in. Then the catalytic converter and rear suspension needed to be fixed. Then the idle control valve needed to get replaced. When I left it it still had a whole in the fuel resonator that had a hole from rust.

    do a test drive and full tour on a 1984 toyota cressida sedan loaded power windows locks and mirrors power seats cloth. 2.8 liter straight 6 cylinder, automatic with 325,877 miles. it runs pretty good the manifold leaks a lil bit and sometimes it's hard to start because the 3rd cylinder fouls up and starts running rich and when its -5c it starts up fine and it starts knocking and the alternator belt chirps, drives good

  • @ndaguanno
    @ndaguanno 12 років тому

    @mikegta14 Congratulations, how many miles does it have? Unless you know the previous owner replaced the intake manifold gaskets you should expect to have to replace them, the ones that came in the cars were nylon, and start leaking coolant after so long, the redesigned gaskets are aluminum though. If you notice low coolant and you don't see a leak good chance its the intake manifold gaskets. 3800 is supposed to be a great engine from what I've heard.

      +Josh Hernandez The LS should have the Buick 3800 engine. It's a much better engine than the 3400 in reliability, but we owned a 2000 Impala with the 3400. We sold it at 215k hard miles. I'm looking at buying another- they're great cars, but make sure the heat and air conditioning is working. Ours was temperamental- losing heat in the winter is no fun!

    Part 2-
    Ran great for awhile, but noticed a whine noise, thought it was just power steering, Then the coolant problems started Cap failed didn't build any pressure changed cap fixed. The elbows cracked for some reason gm thought it would be good idea to run coolant through the belt tensioner using cheap plastic elbows which break a lot, got metal ones fixed. Then the transmission started slipping bad i tried lucas change filter helped a little. Now transmission has no D or 3. DON'T BUY A LEMON!

    @Outdoorsforum Depends what motor it has and which generation it is, this car a 2001 impala ls has the legendary 3800 series 2 I've heard they can get to 300k if properly taken care of. I've also heard of these motors described as bulletproof, it was one of gm's best engines. If you get the base from this generation it has a 3400 in it, which I can't speak for, heard its not as good as the 3800. If you get one from this era check the intake manifold gaskets.

    @mikegta14 Yeah she has a lot of miles, but your right as long as you take care of it then it should take care of you, at that mileage I would assume the intake manifold gaskets were changed, the car I just got had a little over 116k and they were leaking a little, hopefully I'll get at least that many miles out of mine, not an impala but its a monte carlo ss it has the 3800 series II, I've heard with proper care the 3800 has gone to 300K before. Good luck hope she takes care of her new owner.
