This week it was time to clad the other van wall, which meant finally tackling the window frame we'd been putting off. After the ordeal of the headliner shelf, we took our time and are very happy with the result. Then it was time to finish off the cladding, before we move upwards and get stuck into that roof and ceiling!

Chesca & Ben here! In May 2019, we bought a sprinter van while we were on the other side of the world. We flew back to the UK to convert her into our dream home on wheels. Follow our journey as we take her from a panel van to a camper van, ready to drive us around the world.
❤ GR8 VID ❤ LOVED IT ❤ now when I see the Van in other videos I can recall what it took to build the shelf and frame around that small window. It reminded me of when my son fabricated aluminum black storage boxes on the outside of my Van rear doors while we were in a Park & Ride lot in San Diego and Cal-Trans walked up and asked what we were doing ❤

I like the window, was it luck that the cladding piece perfectly fit under the window frame?
It was quite a white ago but if I remember correctly, Ben cut the cladding to fit the frame ☺️

I see you have a window, but I didn't see how that was done. I believe there will be a bigger window too. If you took any videos of cutting through the van metal and fitting them, it would be interesting to see it. I have only just joined thanks to the article in the local paper, and have binge-watched the first 6 episodes. I converted a VW Transporter van myself years ago (now sold), but a different concept, all the fittings (bed etc) were removable so I could use it as a van if necessary. The bed was mounted on car jacks so it could be levelled if the van was parked on a slope!

Regarding the windows, we had these installed for us before we did anything else on the build. So, no videos on how to cut windows for the van unfortunately. LOVE what you did with your bed in your Transporter - what a genius idea! 😍 We've slept on a slope so many times I wish we'd had something like that!

👏👏👏👏👏 It may have taken you all day to do the window frame but you should be proud 👍 very proud your getting there really quickly, we genuinely can't wait to see Sofia in the flesh😁 and you go girl with the power tools 👍 Ben you got a good one there any woman who picks up a power tool and has a go is a dam fine woman 👍, the viral infection that Beck had I now have 😭 Rhys has been on stop since Saturday we drove to Kent to pick up a single seat and that was that when we got back 🤮 it's gutting we have a single seat the solar has arrived the swivel mechanism has arrived the awning has arrived and I'm laid up in bed😩 and to top it off the weathers amazing, keep it up both you really are doing a fantastic job, the only good thing to come out of me being ill is I get to catch up on you two and it's the only thing that has put a smile on my face in the last few days so thank you and thank you for the shout out you guys rock ❤️✌️
Ah this has made us smile so much, thank you. After we filmed the roof rack we both came down with some sort of flu, Ben got it first and then I was laid up in bed over the weekend with it too. Still got a cough but think it's on the way out. Must have been something nasty going around. We are making progress but you're ahead with us on the electrics and the ceiling by a long way! All swings and roundabouts and we'll all get there in the end. Ready for that pint in the sunshine! 🌞🍻
Absolutely love the window frame. Looks great. We are still in the planning stage & are hoping to buy our van in October/November to convert over the winter. I can’t wait for your next update ☺️

why do you have reflectix on ur walls like that? is it for vapor barrier?
Does the window only fits for a Sprinter? Or would it also fit on the side of a fiat ducato?

Love the framing around the window, quick question, how did you get the side parts of the frame the right shape and size to contour around everything?
What wood do you use for your battens and what size also what thickness is the cladding and could you screw in to it to hold cupboards up
Hey! For the battens on the wall we use 2x1 wood. The cladding is only 3mm thick so not suitable to hold up cupboards. We drilled the cupboards into battens behind the cladding. Hope that helps 😊
Hi I’m new to your channel and I love watching your work on this van. There’s just one I might have missed, are you not having any big windows to let natural light in? Or have you got another idea?
Glad to have you along! We have a big window on the sliding door, but this is hidden in most of our videos as we always have the door open! Not filling the van with windows for security/privacy. But we have one on the sliding door, a hatch in the bulkhead, the fan and the vent window at the back :)

Hey, we got our windows done at a window place in Leeds called Van Window Specialists. It's a small vent window if that helps :)

What size of cladding did you use
Hi Joan, we used 8mm pine cladding from Wickes :)
