The title card on this video is actually the one used from December 1973 to October 1975. The one used in 1971 had a closer shot of the lighthouse on a blue background.
it makes me feel like a dummy to realize, with reading your comment just now, that 'La Lumiere' translated, means 'The Light'..French?...and thanx for subscribing....
You're welcome, Danny! Love your page and your audio clips. I am a CBS soap fan going back to the 80's with Guiding Light (my all-time favorite). I love all of the Where The Heart Is clips, also Love Is A Many Splendored Thing. Love Of Life is another favorite of mine as well!
do you remember the Maria Benson story, the one during which she trapped Mark Elliot in the garage and set it on fire (the 9-17-71 closing i posted came from that episode)?..i ask because i have a dream sequence from the week before about Maria being tried for her misdeeds....
I wish they had GL episodes from the early 70's about the Ken Norris/ Janet Mason marriage in which Ken' s jealousy of Ed Bauer got the best of him to the point he went beserk and shot Ed. And when he was confined to a mental institution.
Danny Hill I’ve always been so fascinated by the character of Kit Vestid from everything I’ve read about her. It kills me to be too young to have watched and equally painful that no footage survives.
Thanks, Danny, for bringing this title sequence back into la lumiere (French for "the light") after nearly 50 years. I understand that its lighthouse is in New York. Do you know where the lighthouses used in the 1954-56 and 1967-71 sequences were located?

Unfortunately, that was before my time. My earliest memories of watching GL were around 1979.
0:59 - "Stay tuned for _The Secret Storm,_ next on most of these CBS stations. This program was recorded."

personally, I'd like to see Kit Vestid's murder of Charlotte Waring; then, 6m later, her attempt on Sara McIntyre's life...
+Danny Hill That one also.
i have some of Kit's attempt on Sara on audio..as soon as i pull it together, i intend to post..as they say, stay tuned!.......

I also heard about Kit from what my mother told me. She sounded like she was a piece of work. Sounds similar to Sheila Carter from Y&R and B&B.

Actually, this visual is from 1974. The music is from 1971.
