Consistently and conspicuosly missing seems to be the July 7, 1980 episode of Edge, where Jody explains who she is to Nicole..audio only, this includes scenes with Cliff trying to extract a promise from Raven, who later puts Derek on the spot..also, there'a a small part of a ''Hamburgler'' commercial and a promo for ''Ryan's Hope''......

for BruTube, by request..a slideshow 'recreation' of a 1980 cast close..the audio comes from NBC, from some time in July 1977..there are no network voice-overs - only Bill Wolff's usual thing..and this is slightly cut, with 2.5 notes missing from the beginning (this is the way NBC sometimes edited their videos or switched from commercial/back-to-show a little off-time..again, enjoy!....(and yes...
Texas' First Theme: 1980-81

by request..this is the longest I've heard this theme play - from Score Productions and composed by Bob Israel, along with ''miscellaneous'' cast short..there's also a sponsor tag that doesn't fit!....

first, a promo for NBC's ''new'' daytime lineup starting August 4, 1980 - followed by the ORIGINAL closing to AW's final 90-minute show - which I have yet to find anywhere here on YT.....
Guiding Light Bumpers, 1984

two second-half, mid-show bumpers from 'Guiding Light', circa May-June 1984: the first has an alternate announcer; the second, with Alan Berns, has no second-half sponsor product..go figure!
GH: Ed Chandler SHY

never realized there was such an interest in these shows' announcers..so here's Ed Chandler, of ''General Hospital'', doing a voice-over for a prime time show..and if i'm not mistaken, i believe i've also heard EC do sponsor tags for ''The Patty Duke Show'' between '63 and '66..common denominator: all shows were on ABC..ditto with Dan McCullough doing ATWT and ''Our Private World''...and Bill W...

short (very) ad sweet: the only clip I ave of Nicole Travis' murder trial has Roger Castemore, intending to save the woman he loves, makes a startling courtroom confession! Rogr Castermore: Roy London Adam Drake: Donald May Judge: Nancy Marchand (maybe) Nicole Travis: Maeve McGuire (though not heard, the segment ended with a look of absolute astonishment on Nicole's face).....

No! Wow! I always thought that Erica was accused of the murder of Jason Maxwell, not Jeff! Who knew? And somehow it turned out that Mona “accidentally” killed Jason Maxwell. (Jason had something to do with. Erica’s attempt at a modeling career at that time. Erica left Jeff [a first marriage for them both] to try to start her modeling career. OK, I was in 5th Grade at this time and only caught AMC on holidays and summers. We did not have VCR’s back then and there was no way to videotape our beloved daytime shows.
Now stay tune for aw next on nbc
Who sang this?
This has Been Guiding Light !
This was a terrible way to try and one up general hospital...they didn't win
Such a stunning song. Should be in with the top soap songs.
Freezone was made by Whitehall Labs, which also made Anacin and Heet.
I miss you momma 😢❤
Back then all the soaps were organ music themed. That's when these soaps were great.
This theme was indeed beautiful but not as beautiful as the orchestrated original theme in my opinion.
The background music is the same background music used in Guiding Light
Nancy Pinkerton was THE definitive Dorian! She had quite a range as an actor- unlike a future Dorian who only knew how to play 'over the top' in a campy manner.
Melodically South African tribal chants w/ vocal male hums.

THIS IS BORING
DOOL has since moved from NBC to the Peacock streaming service.
Danny, thank you for posting this fabulous closing.
Jennifer was something else.
That announcer might be Lee Jordan from "Splendored Thing" filling in for Ken Roberts.
Having 90 seconds (on audio) of the original Holly is better than not having any clips of her at all. There is a small snippet of what Holly (Lynn Deerfield) looked like in a 1974 GL promo.

Christia Pickles' voice is instantly recognizable. She sounds just like how she sounded as Helen Rosenthal on "St. Elsewhere".
My Mom&grandma enjoyed The As The World Turns they're Deceased now.But I enjoyed it they started me watching.
This is weak compared to the late 80s early 90s one
I remember this theme song so well. My mother never missed "her stories", and she tuned into The Guiding Light since it was on radio. My older sister remembered her listening to it.
TEXAS premiered Monday August 4th 1980 on NBC
One of my first memories of watching soap operas with my mom was Walter's death. He was driving in the rain, with his last word being a crying "Lenore!" He ran off the road into a lake or river or something. I would love to see footage of that again.

Bring this BACK
Does anyone know who the character and actress is who is sitting with Doris Belack at 0:48? Thanks in advance!
This is fantastic…i very much enjoyed this audio presentation. I have been listening to a few radio shows and think ten mins is a little lite but completely acceptable and welcome bc sometimes one needs to get a little fix and a ten min scene is just the ticket.
This wasn't a great soap -- especially in comparison to Somerset. NBC had a little more success with 'Texas', but 'Santa Barbara' was the next soap to last more than a year or two. It was loved by fans and critics, but never was a huge ratings winner.
This very first One Life to Live theme was always orchestrated from its inception, unlike its "sister" soap opera, General Hospital. And this very first theme and all musical score from One Life to Live and the very first theme and all music score from its sister soap opera, All My Children, also influenced the creation, recording, and production of its very iconic theme and all musical score from The Young and the Restless.
Barry DeVorzon, composer of that 1993-1999 theme from As The World Turns, was also a co-composer of the timeless Nadia's Theme from The Young and the Restless. Wasn't he?
Ken Robers: "This is LOVE.. OF LIFE!"
EDGE was the first daytime TV soap opera to switch networks. It originally ran on CBS then moved to ABC.
This portion brought to you today by Pampers - They help keep baby dry And by Dry Formula Secret. Strong enough for a man but made for a woman.
One of thd most beauty soap-opera theme songs ever written.
When althea and nick left it changed the shows storyline direction
Danny, actually pictured from left 👈🏻 to right 👉🏻 were three cast members of _Behind the Screen 💻,_ which was scheduled 📆 Friday nights 🌚🌚 at 11:30 🕦 pm Eastern on _The CBS Late ⏰ Movie 🎬_ under the description of this video 📼, Catherine Parks (who would later ⏰ be seen in movies 🎬🎬🎬, including _Looker_ [October 30, 1981], _Friday the 13th Part III_ [August 13 {Friday the 13th}, 1982] and the original _Weekend at Bernie's_ [July 5, 1989]) as Sally Dundee; Michael Sabatino _(_Days of Our Lives_)_ as Brian Holmby; and Janine Turner _(_Northern Exposure_)_ as Janie-Claire Willow. So, please 🙏🏻, fix 🔧 this error ⚠️ immediately. Besides, Loyita Chapel (aka Mrs. Robert S. Woods 🪵🪵), who played ⏩ Dory Ranfield Holmby, was not--repeat 🔃, was not--pictured in this video 📼.
Guiding light was the best back then! What a show
Very haunting. To one person's point it was probably one of the reasons it was reviled by some. It's very hauntingly beautiful in my opinion. And the woman who sang it had a beautiful voice.
If anthologies ever come back, this would be a good name for a mystery anthology.Use the theme music also.
Thanks for sharing and showing a spin-off from the Perry Mason radio show broadcast when I was five months and 7 days old…😊! How times have changed…😅! Have a great day!
I didn't know this was a spin off of Perry Mason Radio, I love old time radio, too.
I so wish we would find some 1968 recordings and somebody’s closet someplace
It's so pathetic that Steve was telling Rachel that he didn't want her, he didn't love her, yet she was clinging on to him anyway. Her self esteem was so low!
Love these commercials
Everything's better with Blue Bonnet on it.
I remember my mother watching GL (and all the CBS soaps) when us kids were watching all the ABC ones, this was late 70's. I remember very well this version MINUS the vocals. Wow, this version (the vocals) is indeed creepy!
