Everything that has gone wrong with the 94-96 SS and has been addressed can be found at NAISSO impala forums. My common glitches- broken window tracks - fuel gauge read full all the time - aluminium + post near fuses (replaced with brass) - heater cores - fan control coils - Passkey (bypass)... NAISSO helped me track down the problems and I saved hundreds if not Gs in mechanic fees.
@́ ' That`s one. I think something happened with 'Naisso' as in, its gone :-( Came in handy for me finding an electrical fault that even no experienced mechanical would ever find ( aluminum 2nd + batt. post/ replace with brass)
The Impala SS is a "cruiser", and although performs admirably with the red light jack-rabbit starts, this car will last and run for a very long time if accelerations are smooth and on the roll. Take your time and drive it normally, part of the fascination with the SS is the fact that people wondering what this obvious sleeper can do is better than actually being a test pilot and getting your butt kicked by the guy in the ZR-1 that's going to sell his car in a year when he's tired of it.
ted Murphy Yes, I drive my very low mileage SS around town, just to show off. Some people report to me that they have seen me many times. 27.600 miles on mine, always garaged.
I have a 96 DGGM. For sure a modern classic car. Keep up withe the cool videos. I did all the front end to mine with Bilstien shocks. Rides like a Cadillac! Next is rear end! So true about the leak behind the Opti spark!
Was about to replace my leaking water pump but had to hold off when it stopped leaking as soon as i got the new part in. These impalas are the least to worry about mechanically .
Yo Jon Moss signed your dash? That is wicked awesome. I think my baby is really needing some bushings to be replaced, but it's gonna have to wait until next summer at least. It only applies to the 96, but the odos are notorious for going out. Mine still ghosts sometimes but ultimately needs to be fixed. Good video though and beautiful car.
I took my optnispark apart it had motor oil on disk reader 2 oil rings on shaft failed. I did work twice myself. 45 minutes flat with gasket paper and tube sclicone
Drove mine for 12 yrs and it stayed in the shop. Stock water pumps are garbage so get the electric pump. The cap and rotor sits behind that its susceptible to corrosion and moisture. The trans cooler oil hoses leak and the coolant hoses are trash and the clamps need to be checked to avoid leaks. Oil pan leaks because of the cheap seal on it. The transmission has a recall on it so u need to check that. The bushings were always going bad because of the speed bumps and they are hard to change because they need to muscled off with this tool. The car never left me stranded but I got tired of all the fixing, so I get rid of it. Dont wanna get into the exhaust manifold issues and sensors. Many of the cars parts have been discontinued by the dealership so you're forced to buy cheap replacements from autozone which I hated as well. These cars are road cars.I drove mine cross country twice, but city driving is going to be hard on it
No cap I’ve had an 2003 Buick century , 1998 Buick lesabre and I won’t mind settling for a imapala and saving my money to get one under 5 k just to show love to gm back in the 90s
Use silicone protectant spray on the dash if you dont have leather product, never use armoral on the dash, I have a 95 roadmaster and the dash has a gloss finish like new with no cracks (211,000 miles)
Good work on your videos you give a lot of great info.. I gotta 96 about 2 1/2 yrs ago with 108k for $7k and its clean I'm sitting at 116k now. I agree with you, you gotta take care of these palas. What part of cali you from?
My 96 caprice windows stop working, mph stop showing, my battery guage stop showing, my ac stop blowing and engine fans stop working.. has anyway had this problem because I’m lost and need help bad
this is an amazing video , but , you forgot to mention the lower dashboard , its very fragile and cracks very easily , specially for hot weather country. and for the fuel pump , i hate how its installed and how hard it is to replace the pump each time it breaks , so i cut a cap secured with screws in the trunk on top of the fuel pump so now its very easy and fast to open and replace .
I have a quick question, what's the operating temp for the engine? Mine seems like it's running cooler than usual as the needle is below the quarter mark. I'm fine with it since the ambient around here at daytime can get to 50 degrees, but running cooler might cause premature failure for the engine.
Hell ya with that low of miles its barely broken in. I dont even have to see it to know that its gotta be mint and very well taken care of. Youd basically be buying a time capsule brand new car
Annette Evans Hotchkiss makes extensions in the rear end to center the wheel in back it gets rid off the bad wheel hop they have I have a 96 with them on it, takes off 2x faster and when I'm cutting donuts it don't feel like your hopping
I did bro after test driving a merc and finding out it took off at the same rate as a turtle my mind was made! Subscribe to my channel and check out my new 96!
I don't even know WHY getting a piece of shit ford would go through your mind..... your probably better off in it. If it went through your mind seems like y'all are made for each other.
Had a 1996 Impala SS Brand NEW ..had to fight with the dealer to fix the valve seat ...then at 35,000 miles the water pump leaked into the distributor...cost 2500 to fix....Then 20,000 later it was leaking AGAIN! so it was time to get rid of it...Bad engineering by GM no other answer
i lived my whole life dreaming about owning one of these cars and when i finally did i love and enjoy every and each ride on them , i hat it when it brakes , but i love when i repair it , people say sell it while its running but i say go F* your self. i hate the gearbox though , its very bad for a strong engine like LT1 . is there any replacements for the gearbox ?
Ha...the old LT1 killed my trans problem. These cars weren't meant to be race cars. They are too heavy and weren't engineered for it. 4L60E is not a racing trans.
I liked the car I used it for Family and Business ..to me it was smooth and had the feel of power ..only 260 HP but it moved very well for a BIG 4000 plus pound car...shame the GM guys do what they do so often the wrong thing
I’m on my 4th b-body and I would probably never buy another one. The lt1 platform sucks, optispark is trash, finding a tuner is rare unless you do a mail order turn or a 24x swap, finding nice 5x5 with proper backspacing is difficult and rare, not a lot of after market parts offered anymore, braking is poor for such a big car

love !!!!!
I just bout a 1995 Roadmaster with 60,000 for 200 bucks.😏
@́ ' That`s one. I think something happened with 'Naisso' as in, its gone :-( Came in handy for me finding an electrical fault that even no experienced mechanical would ever find ( aluminum 2nd + batt. post/ replace with brass)
@@classic7890
What exactly was wrong with the heater cores?
I love my 95 SS.. she currently has 200.000 miles and keeps running strong.
Nice avatar :) Got 116,000 on mine but time for some trans repair
Good to know .... mines got 34k ... one owner (me) and it’s a 96
my 97 Trans Am WS6 has 159K, M6 and T-Tops.. so much fun
Glycerin 98-02 trans am all day
Cool series man. I've had my 96 for 7 years now and will keep it till I die. the impalassforum has been a massive help too.

Good channel man, keep it up. I got a DCM '96 that I've had since '98. Needs work, but never giving it up.
I have a 96 DGGM. For sure a modern classic car. Keep up withe the cool videos. I did all the front end to mine with Bilstien shocks. Rides like a Cadillac! Next is rear end! So true about the leak behind the Opti spark!
Have mine since 2002 have 104k miles on it love it.
Mine interior came perfect.95 front and back.now my dash has a tiny tiny crack.thanks for the post
That sound great,I have suggestion for fuel pump and it's opening a hole under the wheel in the trunk to change the pump with out dropping the tank🙂
I totally dig my 95 Impala. It only needs a paint job in some small spots...
Was about to replace my leaking water pump but had to hold off when it stopped leaking as soon as i got the new part in. These impalas are the least to worry about mechanically .
I’ve got the Roadmaster which I upgraded to a GSX version with some Impala SS parts very clean

I love my 95 impala, many of the problems stated I replaced them. 154k miles. your steering wheel looks like it was used.
It is the dexcool. If you have a coolant leak, and air starts getting in the system, the dexcool starts to churn into gunt.
I took my optnispark apart it had motor oil on disk reader 2 oil rings on shaft failed. I did work twice myself. 45 minutes flat with gasket paper and tube sclicone

Nice vid bro very helpful . I have a 96 dcm . been working on it since I got it . lol .
Big ass BOSA love
I have had issues with the matching plastic around the wheel wells
What's with the front substructure kit? What does it help with? Do they make louvers for the rear window?
Thanks
very nice keep it up
I totally agree wit everything u said about this car I love this car I baby mines
365,142 an all I ever done was rebuild the trans and brakes, abs sensors
ALVIN THE GREAT how much for a fix for the trans?
Dope 96, which dash did you use?
What car did the cluster come from?
thank you !
No cap I’ve had an 2003 Buick century , 1998 Buick lesabre and I won’t mind settling for a imapala and saving my money to get one under 5 k just to show love to gm back in the 90s
Did you buy the Factory Service manuel ?? the 800 page one......
Use silicone protectant spray on the dash if you dont have leather product, never use armoral on the dash, I have a 95 roadmaster and the dash has a gloss finish like new with no cracks (211,000 miles)
What brand of spray did you use
What is the name of the bar system you have going over and around your engine with the 3 holes in it
Where did you get that cluster?
Yup paid 18 for mine and it had 24800 miles when I got it worth every penny I got it from a dealership in Nebraska Bigler Motors
where did you find that engine bay brace???
Wats the name of the beat
I see I got the newer Malibu or impala dash cluster
On the 3c fab trailing arms. Did you get the adjustable upper control arms?
Reed Aichi adjustable. But i would get the non adjustable if i had to get them again
To the people that's patching these cars up... Cut that shit out and do it right or leave it alone. The same goes to Marauders as well.
Haha yee
Good work on your videos you give a lot of great info.. I gotta 96 about 2 1/2 yrs ago with 108k for $7k and its clean I'm sitting at 116k now. I agree with you, you gotta take care of these palas. What part of cali you from?
Rhino b norcal
He got the Jon Moss Impala version car that's tight.
Thanks bro
Ive installed WAGON rear springs and gas WAGON rear shocks they are 1 inch shorter and rated for 200 MORE lbs and only $40.from salvage yards
michael thomas really what is the difference, did u notice
I was lucky to find 2 96 caprices in good shape one 350 lt1 and a 305 lt1
How much would one cost that's had an LS swap?
I dig the cluster how did you get it like that??
David Rebollar I seen that I want that cluster to
Nice ride bro,
What brand of optispark do you have or recommend to buy?
Acdelco Top of the line
My 96 caprice windows stop working, mph stop showing, my battery guage stop showing, my ac stop blowing and engine fans stop working.. has anyway had this problem because I’m lost and need help bad
Check body grounds.
Dexcool I went to the green no problem
this is an amazing video , but , you forgot to mention the lower dashboard , its very fragile and cracks very easily , specially for hot weather country. and for the fuel pump , i hate how its installed and how hard it is to replace the pump each time it breaks , so i cut a cap secured with screws in the trunk on top of the fuel pump so now its very easy and fast to open and replace .
Great idea!
Like any other interior part. The fuel pump cap is a great idea, it even has a hump in the trunk anyway so might as well do this.
I did that to my s10. nomore dropping the tank
U can protect the seat but hate to tell u it's guna make a hole on the left side and a rod is guna pop out happened to mines.
Best part is doing donuts in the rain🍩
did you have to get a extended drive shaft to help center the rear wheels properly
Ron Brown You don't have to extend the drive shaft but some transmissions setups are shorter. You can swap with a Crown Vic drive shafts

Depends....if its sitting in traffic it reaches 220 degrees. Unless you get a pcm tune and lower the temps like I did.
it sits at 170 degrees while idling, goes up to 190 then drops back after the fans kick in.
Are you on Facebook? On the Impala SS?
Hey where can i get decent suspension mods and replacements?
david romero pst steering, gm performance, moog.com
My '96 Caprice 9c1 has 144k, runs great ! (since the key bypass ) ...
Where can I get that chrome engine bay support bars at? Somebody please help
Street trends
What did you do to center the back wheels?
3cfab extended control arms. Qa1 makes extended control arms as well.
What problem do the SS bring
I need some opinions on weather or not its a good deal to pull the trigger on a 96 impala, 10k, 100k miles, great condition all around, from a dealer,
Always buy private sales from owner and when it comes to dealers, trust no one.
I'm thinking about buying a 96' 41k miles for $15k is that a good deal? And when do they start having problems that u mentioned?
R M dam great deal
R M hell yeah I sure would
Hell ya with that low of miles its barely broken in. I dont even have to see it to know that its gotta be mint and very well taken care of. Youd basically be buying a time capsule brand new car
how did you center wheels??
u got link to parts 4 rear suspension or
just parts list?
Annette Evans Hotchkiss makes extensions in the rear end to center the wheel in back it gets rid off the bad wheel hop they have I have a 96 with them on it, takes off 2x faster and when I'm cutting donuts it don't feel like your hopping
thks
Just wrecked mine man smh
Now I'm stuck on should I get another or marauder this is the toughest decision I've made in a long time!
Vintahj MuscleHd get a impala bro you won't regret it I love my 95
I did bro after test driving a merc and finding out it took off at the same rate as a turtle my mind was made! Subscribe to my channel and check out my new 96!
I don't even know WHY getting a piece of shit ford would go through your mind..... your probably better off in it. If it went through your mind seems like y'all are made for each other.
ThatMEXICANguy13 lol bro you gotta admit tho the growl on the start up is bad ass I just always loved the stock pipes on the merc. Don't Shoot!!!!
The Marauder is a really nice hybrid of 3 ford cars. Now performance, not that great but sure beats a regular Marquis.
Where you at in nor cal?
On the coast half moon bay
Had a 1996 Impala SS Brand NEW ..had to fight with the dealer to fix the valve seat ...then at 35,000 miles the water pump leaked into the distributor...cost 2500 to fix....Then 20,000 later it was leaking AGAIN! so it was time to get rid of it...Bad engineering by GM no other answer
What "reduces the wheel hop"?
Extended trailing arms
Where do you fill the radiator? Or just fill the reservoir??
You just fill the reservoir tank not the radiator.
@manuel martinez - thanks.
brother, it will crack. keep that blanket on there. No real way to fix it.
Deff get poly body mounts .... world of diff ... trust me
i lived my whole life dreaming about owning one of these cars and when i finally did i love and enjoy every and each ride on them , i hat it when it brakes , but i love when i repair it , people say sell it while its running but i say go F* your self. i hate the gearbox though , its very bad for a strong engine like LT1 . is there any replacements for the gearbox ?
6speed it.
how ??
Eyad Jam t56 out of Camaro
dose it fit right away or do i need to cut or adjust something ?
Ha...the old LT1 killed my trans problem. These cars weren't meant to be race cars. They are too heavy and weren't engineered for it.
4L60E is not a racing trans.
So how much money have you spent on this car?
Priceless ... its my super sport dream
What’s the best coolant for this ride?
Not such thing as “best coolant”. But orange dexcool is made for our cars.
@SS super sport dreams
Thanks for the reply.
That coolant produces a lot of sludge, agree?
What coolant are you running and for how long and WHY?
No sir. that is a sign of lack of maintenance on the coolant system. I change mine out every year.
Air Intake Is PVC Pipe From Home Depot?? I've Seen People Doing This, That's Why i Ask
Some yes. Various types of intakes to choose from. Ebay, summit racing etc
What would yous guys pay for a mint condition 96 impala with 76,000 mile
16-17 if they would take it
No more than 15k and that’s already up there
Everything he said I’m getting fixed
Big facts lol
😂😂😂😂😂 ikr
Never use dex cool
Used to call that shit (dex cool). Death cool ... orange death... etc
I liked the car I used it for Family and Business ..to me it was smooth and had the feel of power ..only 260 HP but it moved very well for a BIG 4000 plus pound car...shame the GM guys do what they do so often the wrong thing
I just want to find one that hasn't had the shit beat out of it. Lol
3 minutes in of talking, I’m trying to keep this video short
Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Treat her like a lady.
you forgot to mention the 4l60e transmission is trash
j emz it’s actually a good transmission, idk why this generation trans had problems
I’m on my 4th b-body and I would probably never buy another one.
