Good video, but make no mistake about it, everything on a SS can be fitted on a Caprice. All the way from vin numbers to the rear end. It's actually impossible to know if someone takes the time and pay attention to the details.
True true but the vin Number is riveted in so a trained eye would be able to tell if it is the original untouched vin or not. I can't say the same for all... 1 more thing about the rear ends, yes the rear ends are interchangeable but the 3.08 rear end in a impala ss is wider than the 3.08 rear in the caprice. And even I never knew that until I had my rear end rebuilt recently. The axles in the impala rear end are longer than the ones in the caprice. And when I though about both cars stock for stock the stock wheels on a 9c1 caprice sit more inward and the ss would sit more outwards.... check out my rear end rebuild video cause I put both axles side by side standing straight up and the right axles were a little longer. I say the right axles, I accidentally bought the wrong ones that were for the caprice but summit's computer said that they would work lol...

Also the lights have black stripes across the top when you open the hood. Black label lights are black strip lights is what people like to call them. The capris did not come with that.
VIN does not tell you if it's got the Impala SS trim package. It's actually still a Caprice, btw. A WX3 Impala SS, is a trim package of the 94-96 Caprice.
I never said the Vin says if the car has the impala ss trim package. I said the 8th digit of the VIN tells what engine the car came with. The WX3 is specific to the impala ss only.
VIN doesn't confirm the Impala SS trim package option of the Caprice. It only tells if it a Caprice Classic or base, LT1 or L99, and year it was built.

U9795 is the paint code for my 95 Spruce Green (Grey/Green)
It's a broadcast sheet. Not a build sheet.
So what about the old cop cars that came with the lt1 motors?
I know for a fact that even the police package caprice from 1994 to 1996 had the letter P in the eighth digit of the vin # verifying that it came equipped with the 5.7L LT1.
And on the trunk tag they will have 9C1 somewhere on it to show that it was a police package.
Some of them also came equipped with the G80 rear end.
@@1996impalass You could get a 9C1 with a 4.3L V8 btw. And the more rare 92-93 9C6 taxi cabs with the 4.3L (LB4) V6. Basically an S10/Astro motor.
@@kirwankars8597 I knew the 94-96 9c1 came with either the 4.3L L99 265ci v8 or the 5.7L LT1 350ci v8. I don't know about the 92-93 taxi cab and v6 thing. As most taxi's were retired 9c1's. I've only knew of the 91-93 caprice to have the 5.0L tbi 305ci v8 (civilian model) or the 5.7L tbi 350ci v8 (police package) only. Not a v6.
@@1996impalass just learned about them myself about a year ago. Pretty darn rare. Look up 9C6 92-93 Caprice Taxi, 4.3L V6.
@@kirwankars8597 ok, I also knew also they put the 4.3L tbi v6 in the 89-90 caprice, just didn't know about them in the B body cars as I've never seen one lol.
My dream car!! I will have it by next year!!
That's what's up bro. Stay up
God bless you brother.
Very informative video . Thank you sir. I'm finding my self very interested in the Caprice and Impala and been watching videos. This is a really good video
Thanks man now is the time to get one as the prices aren't too bad
The trunk codes are excellent especially. Cool to know .
Very knowledgeable cuz, would have never known.
Yeah cuz most people don't. And it's very easy to clone a Caprice into a fake impala ss. I know the things to look out for that's not in this video.
Also the lights have black stripes across the top when you open the hood. Black label lights are black strip lights is what people like to call them. The capris did not come with that.
That's true
What about the 8’s 👍
I have the real 1996 Chevrolet impala ss and a 1996 Chevrolet Caprice classic 😊.
Can you do a side by side comparison on the difference between the two?
Thanks for the info
No problem man.
got the same color 96 😎😎😎👍🏽
That's what's up. I think the DCM is the nicest color of the 3.
Very good vid
Thanks man, ima try to keep them coming.
I always go by the vin number cause u can always pull doors and trunks off the real deal and put on a caprice/clone
Exactly....
VIN doesn't confirm the Impala SS trim package option of the Caprice. It only tells if it a Caprice Classic or base, LT1 or L99, and year it was built.
Great info and correct!
Nice Car
Thanks bro appreciated
Here is a good link to look up those codes (RPO). I did not know that those cars only had a 3.08 gear ratio the back. www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/More_GM_RPO_codes
thank for info
No problem
Thinking about buying one with 45k miles on it. Guy wants 17k, I don’t think I would pay over 12k. What do you guys think?
I would pass on it. I would be comfortable at between $11k and not a penny over $12k.
i bought a 1996 black with 30k and i paid $16k. ive seen some with less than 5k go for over $30k. in a year and a half these cars will be 25 years old and they will be classics. i now have 65k on mines and i wont take less than 15k for it if i ever sold it but i dont want to sell it. i will own it til the day i die.
i dont understand why they made caprices and impalas the same exact design in the 90s
I'm not sure on that man.
Halo I just subscribed to u cuz I love impalas too there one of my favorite cars of all time plus u got one cool impala SS :3
Thanks man and also once of my favorites as well. I been wanting one since I wad a kid. I'm looking for a 96 DGGM SS. I love that color also
I'm going to jail if I go outside and my 95 doesn't have all of this on it 🤦🏿♂️💀🤣
Does it have it?😳😳
Yeah, we good. Outside wiping her down now.
Already bro....
Lmao
@@bfelder8853 lmaoo 😂😂
Thank you.
No problem
Another dead giveaway is the instrument cluster when you see "certified " its a 9c1
Right, and it could be a 4.3L or a 5.7L
@@1996impalass very true
Man good looking out with this info brotha✊🏾
It ain't nothing man, I was 13 in 96 and fell in love with these cars man. This is 1 to scratch off my bucket list. I want a dggm 96 next.
1996 Impala SS, that’s right!!!
What’s the difference between 94-95 & 96 ss I hear dudes say nah I only want the 96 ss nothing else lol
Probably because the 96 has the floor shifter, and the 94-95 have the counsel shifter
Console shifter on 96, and analog gauges with a tach, and OBD II system, with Dexcool antifreeze. You can tell those by the pink label on the coolant tank cap. And ofcourse the door mirrors are noticeably different on 94s.
Nice video, very informative
Thanks man.
Alright let's just get this straight GM produce a lot of vehicles with the P code Caprice comes with two types of w code and also p code Buick Roadmaster Cadillac Fleetwood and also the SS Impala I owned every last and one of these types of these vehicles more than once the years are ranger from 94 through 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
wha do you mean "REAL" impala? are there phony ones? I have a 95 taking up space in my garage that I want to get rid of, but it came new from the dealership as a company lease when my Dad worked for them driving company big wigs around town when they came to visit from Japan. He bought the car himself when the lease was up since he was pretty much the only one to use it for the lease period anyway. Is there any reason this wouldn't be a "real" impala ss? the vin number and reg says thats what it is...
f
As a matter of fact there are phony ones out there, there simply caprices made to look like an impala. I'd love to take the one you have taking up space in your garage though. How much do you want for it?
Yes, people take Caprices and start swapping parts, honest people call them Clones, dishonest people ask Impala prices.
@@cameltoast yes, couldn't have said it better myself
@@1996impalass To be fair, they are almost identical, but one was made in much lower numbers making the value higher.
@@cameltoast I agree
My vin is the same as yours besides like 3 numbers at the end lol
Clean 🧼
I appreciate that my man
1996 Impala SS no problem
This is the ultimate HOOD CAR....
Frfr
What if the car had a phone on the side of the driver seat ? Lol
That would have been cool
Good shit💯💯💯
Thanks Marauder Man
All impalas came with the lt1 no
True

Coming soon, Impala ASMR
Nice vid bro everything you named is very correct but I see you are going to always have ppl being negative keep up the good work I have one the same color check me out if you dont mind
That's what's up bro and thanks, now a day's the impala ss is becoming a dying breed over looked by the chargers and what not. I'm just keeping the ss alive. And I'll check you out bro bet.
Not when the Caprice has the same LT1 with the P in the vin as well...
@@ChicagosM0stWanted true but WX3 is for the Impala SS only. No matter if the caprice has the lt1
I wonder if my car and truck are real or not.
How to tell if a Video Maker has an IQ higher than 20 ...
Made in texas
Skip all of that mess, quick way to tell is that rear side windows
The rear side windows are the same on the impala and the caprice meaning you still don't know if it's a real impala or not
ua-cam.com/channels/J7kzUh2QxBXql-hRUMFQDA.html
I look at my VIN number and it has that p like you said but when I opened my trunk they covered up that tag with the Dyno rap (for the beat) so my question is this where else can i find that wx-3 /codes
@@ar41555 I think it's also under the hood on driver side fire wall bro
1st run the VIN. The End.
VIN doesn't confirm the Impala SS appearance package.
This is a joke. It is super simple to see the difference!
Numbers never lie man. And it's simple to make a caprice look exactly like an impala ss and not be a real impala ss. My video was made to show you the impala ss only identification #. I see that you don't get it though
Stfu, not always
@Jane Anderson
No it’s not simple to tell the difference. It is now if the narrator just simplified it for ppl who want to buy one, got ripped off, or know for a fact they sitting on the golden egg.
@@EASTCOASTIMPERIAL on point bro, couldn't have said it better myself.
