      G80 is the 3.08 rear end which is not only on the Impala. Caprice police 9C1 code. The 5.7L code is of course LT1. The only code that matters is WX3 for Impala. Make sure the trunk sticker has the same VIN as the dash tag.

    Good video, but make no mistake about it, everything on a SS can be fitted on a Caprice. All the way from vin numbers to the rear end. It's actually impossible to know if someone takes the time and pay attention to the details.

    • @1996impalass
      @1996impalass  4 роки тому

      True true but the vin Number is riveted in so a trained eye would be able to tell if it is the original untouched vin or not. I can't say the same for all...
      1 more thing about the rear ends, yes the rear ends are interchangeable but the 3.08 rear end in a impala ss is wider than the 3.08 rear in the caprice. And even I never knew that until I had my rear end rebuilt recently. The axles in the impala rear end are longer than the ones in the caprice. And when I though about both cars stock for stock the stock wheels on a 9c1 caprice sit more inward and the ss would sit more outwards.... check out my rear end rebuild video cause I put both axles side by side standing straight up and the right axles were a little longer. I say the right axles, I accidentally bought the wrong ones that were for the caprice but summit's computer said that they would work lol...

      @1996impalass  5 років тому +1

      I know all of the exterior ways to disguise a Caprice to clone one into an Impala and in this video I did not talk about any of them. Most people will not even attempt to loan a Caprese from years 1991 through 1993 because of the Interior dashboard is made only different than the 1994 through 1996 Impala SS. Not saying that it can't be done because it can all you need is the dash panel from a 1994 through 1996 Caprice or an Impala no. And as far as the more pointy rear quarter window it can be taken out and a rear quarter window from a 94 through 96 Caprice or Impala will work in its place it would just require Bodywork to fill it in. Like I said I did not talk about any of the exterior ways to tell the difference between a capris and a real Impala SS.. In my video I talk about. In my video I talk about the 100% sure. In my video I talk about the 100% sure fire Waze to tell the difference. In my video I talk about the 100% sure fire Waze to tell the difference between. In my video I talk about the 100% sure fire Waze to tell the difference between. In my video I talk about the 100% sure fire ways to tell if the car you're in question about is really an Impala SS. If the car you may be in question about does not have the characteristics I listed in my video it is not a real Impala SS. The whole reason in this is because it is very easy to clone 1994 especially 1995 and 96 Caprice has to look exactly like Impala SS so the intent of the video is to show these absolute ways to determine but different.
      I will more than likely make a video talkin about all of the exterior and interior differences between the two.

    Good video only one problem in Ga. when they was cloning they was using all Tru SS Parts.. so if they taking genuine SS Parts Off a SS all the labels would make a clone look authentic.. you get what I'm saying.? Even if they swap Dashboards The clone now has SS credentials.!! Soo I studied body parts inside and out.!!That's what I looked at Caprice parts VS SS parts.!!!Saw one of the best clones ever being sold as a Tru SS.. Everyone was convinced it was an SS, seller included.Until I pointed out to them a Tru SS Has Rotors in the rear as well. Not no drums. Outside that quick observations it was finna be sold as an SS ...

    • @1996impalass
      @1996impalass  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah some people take it to the extreme when cloning an SS. I know the one thing that can't be faked is when you go to title one. For example they may have the impala/ clone but the title will either be salvage, rebuilt, bonded, stolen or something. Other than trying to make a quick buck I don't see why someone would clone an impala other than for those reasons.
      So I would have to say that no matter how good the actual clone job is, the title and a car fax history report will prove it's authenticity or not.

      It ties in to the WX3 RPO code. That was the main thing that seperated an Impala SS from a Caprice Classic. You could have a Caprice with an LT1 (the wagons only had that engine), posi traction (if I recall, it was part of the towing package) and i think the 9C1's had rear disc brakes as well but WX3 is the main distinction, same way "9C1" is an RPO code for "police package".
      Look at it this way. "P71" means "Police Interceptor" for Ford Crown Victorias but theyre still crown vics even though Ford calls them "Police Interceptor". It stands true today with the Taurus and Explorer.

    VIN does not tell you if it's got the Impala SS trim package. It's actually still a Caprice, btw. A WX3 Impala SS, is a trim package of the 94-96 Caprice.

    • @1996impalass
      @1996impalass  3 роки тому +3

      I never said the Vin says if the car has the impala ss trim package. I said the 8th digit of the VIN tells what engine the car came with. The WX3 is specific to the impala ss only.

I have a 95 taking up space in my garage that I want to get rid of, but it came new from the dealership as a company lease when my Dad worked for them driving company big wigs around town when they came to visit from Japan. He bought the car himself when the lease was up since he was pretty much the only one to use it for the lease period anyway.
