Love your recipes, especially the Fajitas. I have some recipes for you. A substitute for biscuits & Gravy: Crush up a packet of Ramen into small pieces (don't use seasoning packet) and add 1/2 packet of pioneer country gravy + 1 cup boiling water. A simple breakfast is 1 cup Raisin Bran + 1/3 cup NIDO in a baggie. Add water to cover, shake, and instant milk & cereal. My favorite is 1/2 cup Minute Rice + 1/2 cup Dehydrated Refried Pinto Beans + 1/2 TBSP Tomato Bullion + 1/2 TBSP Taco Seasoning + 1 cup boiling water. Then add cheese & Fritos. For dessert, put a packet of Jello "No Sugar" pudding in a baggie + 1/3 cup NIDO. Add 10oz cold water and stir for a couple minutes and make sure no lumps. Pudding sets up in 10 minutes.

An easy cornbread (Hoe cake, Johnny cake) is 2 parts corn meal + 1 part instant "Just add water" pancake mix, salt, + enough water for a thick batter. Then cook like a pancake. The instant pancake mix self rises and the wheat gluten is the binder for the corn meal.

I use nearly the same frying pan. Mine was from Walmart for less than $4 (2019). I tried some of the higher end pans and I just like the cheapo non-stick one. I notice you cook in cooler weather, too. I needed a cover for when it was nasty and I needed to hold the heat. I ended up getting a second pan and converting it to a lid (the handle comes off easily). Makes it a small biscuit and muffin maker as well as an excellent fryer when it is 10 degrees with a wind. Also, with a lid, you can steam Ready Rice after you cook your protein/vegetables by putting in a couple of tablespoons of water and putting the lid on for a couple of minutes. Great recipes! Will try one or two of those! Good tip on the pork.

@@lindahikes2760 Muffins are essentially pancake batter (pancake batter is just slightly sweeter). You can cook thick muffins by heating them and turning them once. The cover helps get them cooked through.

FYI, it's "pork floss", at least that's what we call it in SE Asia. It's also available as "chicken floss". Can be a bit pricey, depending on the quality, but really yummy. I usually have them with toast, butter and cheese slices, but it would also work with any dough-based flat breads.

It's hard to figure out how much fuel to bring. I used a 7.75 oz canister for 4 nights and it was empty on the last day. I took a 15.5 oz for 9 nights and there's still a bit left. I generally cook a fair bit at night..more than just boiling water etc. Coffee, oatmeal, eggs (add water type) in the am mostly. Usually for lunch I don't cook.

Some great ideas there. Thanks for sharing. Wish we could get chicken, tuna etc in packets here(in France). Tins are a real pain to carry in and on any trip. Yes I know I could pre prep a meal which is OK for a days hike/camp. But that's not really feasible for longer hikes. Id like to know why freeze dried ready meals and heat and serve meals are so expensive? If someone started producing and supplying at a cheaper price they'd clean up! Many people I know would buy prepacked but are put off by the prices.

Wow ! I've been searching for you and your kind. Every site I go to looking for single meals camping is jammed pack with selling products, or are describing things I've never heard of and I'm damn sure not eating it. I want meat, potatoes ,real meals, not space food. I just watched one for like 30 min.that had m&m's , gummy bears , about a dozen things that were probably some kind of starchy thing, but I'm not experimenting at camp. Now I get the dried fruits ok, but then they bring special teas from who knows where. I want coffee, I've carried jerky since I was a kid, and going camping we brought one can of beans each per day, and hunted and fished and picked things if the season was right. I've been out of it quite some time and I'm too old and broken to walk trails. I don't believe I'll do any hunting anymore unless I get desperate. Things sure have changed. I wore a buck 110 on. My hip to high school, and carried a shotgun over my shoulder for a half mile walk to this farmers land I had permission to hunt on by fourteen, several times a week. I just want to go do a little easy kayaking on a slow river and set up at a few local primitive spots I know of here. Maybe do a little fishin or just camp and listen to the quiet some. All I've wanted was to ask a simple question . What are some "GOOD"meals I can put together for a few easy days of camping. My only worry would be the alligators but they don't really like us much and a small good fire will keep them at bay. The damn squeeters. I've got tricks for them too. Thank you so much for posting something I actually recognized as food. It will help me I'm sure.
