Not bad. But, for a knock around replica M1911A1. For the budget minded, I would offer the SDS imported Tisas M1911A1. Okay, made in turkey, but the QUALITY is there. Just bought one and the first range run ZERO failure to feed or fire in 150rds 230 grain ball ammo. Cold right out of the box I was hitting standard steel silhouette targets CONSISTANTLY at 40 yards. I also acquired through CMP round 3 M1911 sales a 1943 Remington Rand frame with the GI replacement (Colt) Hard Slide and chrome lined barrel. The Tisas looks and shoots equally well.

Real pretty. I love 1911s but I've always steered away from the A1 style, preferring the Kimber or "modern" style. This, though... this is real nice. Standard mfg sounds like a lot of money but given their rep I'd bet every dollar went into the gun.

The hammer, the space between the safety notch and the slide serrations, the slide stop notch in the slide and the ejection port appear highly reminiscent of an ARMSCOR Rock Island Armory. My guess is that Standard Manufacturing is taking base ARMSCOR pistols and adding their own touches such as the finish, grips, mainspring housing and a different trigger

A "Gold Standard" 1911 no pun intended and though plain jane still has some custom features like a high undercut on the front strap at the root of the trigger guard and lowered ejection port with relief by the extractor. The hammer and side safety profile follow that of the Springfield Armory, which is distinctively apart from classic Colt. BTW New Britian Connecticut was (or still is ?) home to some hand tool manufacturers like Champion, Husky, and Blackhawk, which are still to be found at Lowes. In the early 1960s Blackhawk invented the long handle bent or straight flex head 3/8" drive spark plug ratchet.

For the money, the undercut on the trigger guard and the lowered and flared ejection port ruin the look. It's also of note that the guns pictured on their website don't have the undercut. But they also put in a high polish blued extractor and ejector, so I'm just not quite sure what this gun is trying to be. Also, looks like the thumb safety has the awful mush/slack at the bottom of it's travel. It's so bad you can actually hear it.
