This is not the time to apply for the card. Wait for the welcome bonus to go back to 80K or 100K points, and ALWAYS apply in-branch. They will often wave the first year fee.
Yeah, I'm hoping for the 80k to come back soon before I apply. I doubt we'll see 100k again in the next few years. I know about getting the annual fee waved for applying in branch. It would take me $50 in gas and 3-4 hours of my time to go apply at a branch, so I'll probably just pay the $95 annual fee instead.
@@mikegoodwin2386 that sucks to hear one’s even that far, here in Chicago there is a chase every 10 mins driving and there is one a 2 min walk from my house. 95$ isn’t a good enough reason to use 50$ gas but if it were the reserve I’d say make that drive. Good luck brother!
@@aureleei7349 Yeah, it's about an hour and a half, one-way, to the nearest Chase bank, which would be in Lubbock. I used to be in Lubbock 1-3 times per month to shop or go to a game or whatever. Haven't found much reason to go lately. If I have other things I need to do there, and can stop by Chase on the same day, then sure. But that would probably be on a Saturday. I don't know if the people I'd need to talk to about this would be there on Saturday or not. If I'm there on a week day, I'm probably working, probably driving an 18-wheeler with no place to park it near a Chase branch. I have about 6 weeks before I'm under 5/24. So it's not something I need to worry about today. But this is probably my next card. Definitely one of my next two.
5 years and counting here! This card is positioned so well, earning you valuable Chase points and unlocking great redemption value, all while being "only" $95! The 80 or even 100k SUB and first year waived annual fee offers from time to time just make it a no brainer too. Awesome video Daniel!
Yeah if anyone can get that first year waived with an in-branch offer or something like that then its a no-brainer! So much value when that sign up bonus is elevated too. 5 years is a long time so you're another guy that it's easy to see has gotten great value from it! Thanks for watching Kevin!
I love my CSP! For all the things that you mentioned. I love the low annual fee, using my freedom unlimited for everyday purchases and then transferred to my CSP for travel. I really also like the no foreign transaction fees because the unlimited doesn't have that perk! It's definitely a staple in my wallet. I appreciate the 3x on dining as well and the heaviness of the card compared to my other cards 😂
I just got the CSP because I was denied twice in Aruba with my Amex and Discover cars leaving only my Freedom Unlimited with all the transaction fees. By the grace of God, I found a extra 5 dollars in my wallet so I could pay my bill with cash. No telling now many foreign transaction fees I paid before I finally learned my lesson 😂
The first 10 seconds of this video sums up my opinion on this card perfectly! To me, the fact alone that this card allows you to transfer your Chase points out to travel partners makes this card worth the $95 annual fee (or an effective $45 annual fee with the hotel credit). I also don't really put any spend on this card at this point, but I think of it as a pass-through entity for my Chase points, and it serves that purpose perfectly!! Great video man!
I got this card last September because the sign up bonus was 100,000 points after spending $4000. All I had to do was pay my rent twice and a couple of bills and I hit the minimum spend. 100,000 points for paying bills was a no brainer for me. I do like the 3 year free Dashpass option that this card has as well as the 5% rewards on Lyft rides and the anniversary bonus is pretty nice as well. No foreign transaction fees was a big factor in getting this card too. Then it also has the perks of the freedom cards as well so overall I'm pleased with this card. I also love that it shares the Chase unlimited rewards points with my other cards too! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
I just got approved for the CSP and I’m excited to hit that bonus! I just wish that it had more extensive 3X categories like the Citi Premier or the Wells Fargo Autograph. However, what got me was the 25% boost in points when used on the Chase UR Travel Portal and the DoorDash Pass complimentary membership. I’m actually shocked that it’s until the end of 2024. It’s totally worth it for me! I didn’t even mention the 10% anniversary bonus and the $50 hotel credit! I’m excited to use this card and the UR points for travel this summer!
I’m approaching my 1 year anniversary with the CSP and I’m glad that I chose it. Can’t wait to complete the trifecta with the CFU in the next few months!
Every 4 years, you can downgrade the account to a freedom og, Flex, or unlimited, and get the SUB for the CSP all over again. I think they should add more to dining as a x4/x5 or add a gas category at x3.
Great video! Agreed, it is my favorite card and has become my go-to travel card. The $50 hotel credit and travel portal uses are great. The Chase offers also come in handy, I typically can always get 5% off at some gas station when I fill up my car. And the travel insurance benefits are also great to have from experience. While it wasn't the smoothest process and took several weeks to even hear back, I did get reimbursed for both a baggage delay and a flight cancellation. It wasn't 100% of the amount that I requested, but it was most of it.
1 and a half years and the ability to have access to transfer partners like Hyatt and Southwest while getting a $50 hotel credit makes this card a keeper for me!
I am very happy that I found this channel, I recently turned 18, and applied for the Chase Student and Discover credit cards, and got approved for both! I want to follow your advices to be a better person managing my finances!
I need to ensure that I use my $50 hotel credit this year. I've had the CSP for over a year now and I've definitely gotten good value from this card. I was able to treat my family to a little vacation in the bahamas at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, and I can't wait to go back (it'll be a while though). Great video as always Daniel.
I'm on year two with this card and aside for the initial sign up bonus, this card doesn't offer very much. My wife's Costco Citi card offers more cash back for gas, wholesale, and hotels/flights (most of my travel is booked using my workplace's portal so I can't take advantage of the 5x). On top of that, the Costco card matches the 3% cash back for dining from the CSP. I'm likely going to do a product change after this year.
Hey Daniel! Thanks for always giving so much value in your videos, you go above and beyond! Quick question: Any chance you can make a future video on "The Best Keeper Credit Cards"? Those that retain value over a long period of time and are worth keeping. I know you mentioned a few briefly in past videos, but I'd love to get your opinion on your personal favorites. Thanks so much for the amazing videos! 🎉
@@boogeymanw9643 True! lol... Sorry, I should have been a bit more specific... Credit cards WITH annual fees that are good "Keeper Cards." Another solid video! Thanks for taking the time to highlight a solid card. I remember being on the edge of getting this card and taking the leap to get the card and it has worked out great since then. Thanks for the hard work you put into the videos!
I went the capital one route. I don't see myself earning a lot of points with the multipliers chase offers. I am jealous of southwest being a transfer partner though.
If you were to choose one long term travel card, would you choose the CSP, CSR or the CO Venture X? They have the same minimum spends for the bonus, but a much lower effective AF for the more premium VenX. The unlimited 2x on everything is also appealing for the VenX, but I'm curious if you have a preference for Chase or Capitol One. I have the Freedom Flex, but it seems like outsized value from the VenX. Would love to hear comparisons/preferences.
Thank you for making these videos! Finishing school soon so I really want to get into the travel card game. Pretty sure I’ve watch all your Chase, Amex and point redemption tips 3x in the past week😂 I snagged the Reserve since they just upped the SUB but will drop to the Preferred after the year
The net $45 fee after the hotel credit is pretty good. You need another Chase card though to make it worth it to boost the value of the points. I pair it with my Freedom Flex. Ironically, I don't use the Sapphire Preferred Card all that much, but it does serve its purpose for international travels (no transaction fee) and for allowing us to transfer out to Hyatt to get excellent hotel value. The other hidden value of the Chase cards are the Chase offers, providing for discounts at restaurants, hotels and other vendors. You have to login to Chase though to see those at the bottom of your account and activate. Happy Thanksgiving Danny to you, your fiancé and your family.
I can't believe no one has mentioned the DoorDash DashPass membership. With my Sapphire Preferred I have a complementary membership until Dec 31 2024 (started in March 2020). I got my card right as the pandemic started and have used DoorDash a LOT in the past few years. So much so that it's telling me I have saved over $700 in fees in having the DashPass membership. That, combined with the double points on travel, primary rental car coverage, and other points categories makes this a no-brainer card.
I just went from the Preferred to the Reserve and even skipped the sign-up bonus. The value of the 1.5x bonus coupled with the current option to pay myself back for AirBnB's was just to big to not use.
To be honest I'll probably only get this card to transfer points to partners since that isn't an option with the ink unlimited or freedom cards. Otherwise I'm pretty much covered with the amex trifecta
I got Apple Card, Discover, Amex Blue cash everyday and a credit union credit card when I was starting that’s 4 cards. Now that I watched your videos on how and what cards to get, I’m torn on which card should I get next, AMEX Gold or CSP? CSP would be my last credit card that I can get from Chase if 5/24 applies.
I'd say CSP is the way to go if you're factoring in that you're under 5/24 right now. Best to get that bonus - but if your credit history is limited and this is your first Chase card then it might be slightly more difficult to get approved. It think it's best to start with a no annual fee Chase card like the Freedom Flex or Freedom Unlimited
The CSP has been on my mind for months now that I got both the CFF and CFU im really considering on getting it. The only thing is I don't travel at all. I have my eyes on the Savor card from C1. It's either the CSP or the Savor from C1 😣😫.
The current point bonus is 80,000. The annual fee is 95.00 and they don’t have a interest free offer. Wells Fargo is still offering 15 months interest free, with a $200.00 bonus if you spend only $1000.00 in the first three months. And no annual fee. Way better offer.
Last year Chase Sapphire Preferred came out with a 100,000 points sign on bonus. Right now it’s a 60,000. Do you think they’ll increase the points in January or February 2023? I’m thinking about signing up for this credit card now, but some people have said to wait a little because they might come out with a higher sign on bonus in the new year.
It would be really awesome to hear your considerations on comparing the United Explorer Credit Card vs Chase Sapphire Preferred. They are both of Chase for 95$ per year
Curious to know if anybody else has had same issue as me. Booked hotel room through chase travel portal for $100 on Oct 24 2022. It's now 1/12/2023. I've called 4 times since then to see why they still haven't given me my $50 travel credit. Each time, the customer service rep says, yeah, you should've got it. They will escalate issue. SMH
Hi Daniel, great video! Do you earn points for all purchases with this card? How long after you make a purchase does it usually take to receive your points? Thanks
Have been slowly building my Chase trifecta. This is the last card to get, just been accumulating a bunch of UR points. I have been waiting anxiously for them to up the 60,000 point bonus but it doesn't seem like they are going to.
Cool videos thanks for the top tips, you must be the only UA-camr always looking left and right while talking, secret audience looking on perhaps? Super helpful though, thanks!
Daniel, thanks for the very helpful videos. I was trying to navigate the World of Hyatt website to use my transferred points but had a super hard time knowing their blackout dates. All the dates I choose, it said they were not available for points. Can you do a video on how to book with points and know their blackout dates?? Or how to know when to book? Thanks in advance. 👍
What if you want to product change from a equal cards. Example. I have the freedom flex. Like it and all but feel like I should have got the freedom unlimited. I have had the card for a few months. Do I still need to wait till after a year. I want to get other Chas cards bit 5/24 got me. And I won't be down to 4/24 until may
I just realized that I missed out on a preselected offer in the mail, I missed it by few days which included 80k miles after 4000 spending in first 3 months.. Hopefully Chase sends it again..
Is using the chase ultimate portal really worth it? Looking to book a flight and it's literally an extra $150 per seat on Chase versus booking it directly through the airline. I found the same issue when looking for hotels. Much cheaper booking directly....
In my experience that Chase portal has prices that are pretty much equal to any airline or hotel website - but it varies depending on what you're looking to book. So very important to always compare like you did! I prefer to use my Chase points by transferring to airline and hotel partner programs now to get better deals and better value for my points over the Chase portal
Is there a wait period between each card on the trifecta for the joining bonuses? I've already cleared my flex bonus 1 month in. Was thinking about starting card 2 soon. But if I have to wait 6 months - 1 year, I'll do that too.
I have this card and the capital one venture x card that I’m currently using for everyday spender . I’m thinking I want to get the chase trifecta . My question is … having the venture x , is it worth it to get the unlimited and or freedom flex as an everyday spender ?
Hey Daniel, I was just curious about the Chase Points, so when you transfer those points to a Chase Travel Partner from the Sapphire Preferred Card, do you still get the 5% Cashback on it? Or there is no Cashback at all since you transferred the points to the partners. I have another question, so I have the Discover It Credit Card, Amex Blue Cash Everyday, Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Freedom Flex. I am thinking about getting Chase Sapphire Preferred but I am not sure do I get that as my 5th credit card or upgrade my Chase Freedom Unlimited to the Sapphire Preferred. I don't see a significant difference between unlimited and preferred in terms of points. What is your opinion in this case?
hello, hopefully someone can help me. I just applied and got approved for the sapphire preferred today on the 14th of January. Does this mean that my statement closing date will be last day of the month ? do all chase credit cards end their statements on the last day of each month ?
THanks for the great info. I got the Ink Business cash a couple of months ago and was wondering if I needed the CSP in order to transfer the points to use at Hyatt? If so, do you have a referral link? Thanks.
If you downgrade, what are the chances you keep the credit limit on the preferred? Right now I am approved for 13k, don't love the card, but looking to boost my available credit generally. If I could downgrade and retain that 13K limit that would work wonderfully.
Hi Daniel. First of all great video, and I love your content. Quick question for you. Would you recommend waiting to apply for the CSP in hopes that Chase will raise the welcome offer or just applying now? I’m looking to complete my trifecta and have seen that with the recession it’s less likely that credit card companies will raise initial offers. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this and appreciate any advise!
Hey Cole, thanks so much! That's a good thought to have - I'll say that it's tough to time credit card bonuses in my experience. I've missed out on plenty of higher offers after I applied haha. If you don't need the card or the bonus points to book travel right away, then I'd say wait and see for a few months if you want to. There's no guarantee they'll increase it but who knows. If you do apply and they increase the bonus shortly after, sometimes you can call them and they will match the higher bonus - but this does not always work. Hope that helps!
Hey Daniel - I might have missed this, but can you do a video as to why someone would want to have Amex and Chase cards? For example - I have the AMEX Gold, Platinum, and Everyday Preferred. I also have the Chase Freedom Unlimited. I feel like the reward categories are so similar I could just concentrate on using the right AMEX card for the purchase. I could be missing something though.
Hey Gregory - so actually one of my next videos is going to be talking about my experience with having both Chase and Amex. One of the biggest things for me lately have been to diversify my points. So for example I can transfer Chase Points to Hyatt which is very valuable. But then Amex Points are great for flights with their many partners for transferring points
All depends on the categories you're spending in because it's different for each category. At 1x point per dollar, it's $60,000 of spending to get 60,000 points - but at 2x points per dollar (other travel), it's $30,000 of spending. So definitely a good reason why spending $4,000 to get 60,000 points on the sign up bonus is a good deal if you know you were already going to spend that money on normal expenses
Just started year two with CSP, so I got offered 100K SUB. I'm thinking of transferring for Hyatt visits, so I might add the Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited, basically I just use it for dining. I've defaulted to Cap One Venture X as my everyday card for the simplicity.
Pre-approved for 60k bonus points the last few months, last night I checked and I was pre-approved for 80k bonus points. Nearly applied, now this morning it has dropped back down to 60k. Strange.
Sometimes they waive first year annual fee in branch from time to time. But it depends so I like to look around on Reddit to see what people are saying / for recent data points
How am I supposed to be earning points on a chase freedom unlimited while keeping a low credit utilization? It seems preposterous to be spending $10 on a card to keep a single digit utilization
Daniel, you mentioned using this card for Hulu streaming. Which entertainment service are you using for your Amex Platinum? I'm currently getting a credit for the Disney Hulu bundle.
What are my odds of getting approved for this card? My credit score is 710. I don’t have a ton of credit history but what I do have is in good standing, my utilization is about 20%. Is this a card I should stay away from for a few years as I make good payments on what I currently already have, or do you think I would be approved with my current score.
depends. If you have a relationship with Chase such as having a bank account with Chase, you have a higher chance of getting this card. I recommend you to pay off early or not use your credit card too much. 20% utilization is high. Try to keep it below 10%. You want to have at least 1-2 years of credit history and don't miss a payment.
I was able to get the CSP and complete my Chase Trifecta setup this Summer and am really happy to be able to utilize the Card to get higher redemption value via using Chase Travel Partners, or even redeeming through the Portal if it makes sense. Yeah with a Year 1 Value of $705, and an easy way to lower your effective fee with that Hotel Credit long-term, the CSP is definitely a great choice for people who want to be able to maximize their redemption value. I'm definitely on the get value from Redeeming instead of Spending side. Great video as always Daniel!

Where do you see the savings at? I only see it on instacart
I'm here pretending he doesn't get sponsored by chase cause I just got my sapphire card and I really want to love it 😅❤
I would love to see a comprehensive review of the Amex Green card, great video as always 🎉
80,000 now 👌
I just went from the Preferred to the Reserve and even skipped the sign-up bonus. The value of the 1.5x bonus coupled with the current option to pay myself back for AirBnB's was just to big to not use.
Great breakdown, Daniel. I have the CSR, but the CSP is a rock solid choice. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you Daniel! I just got approved for CSP. I will get the Amex Gold after few months to get the best of both reward system.
I have the same question. What's the travel insurance benefit for Chase Sapphire Preferred.
I pray that the sign up bonus for this card bumps up to 80,000 UR points soon 🙏
i just got this and figured out kroger is 3x points i use the kroger delivery service well atleast with that alone it will make annual fee half off
Last year, got blessed with a 100,000 welcome bonus 😅😅
I'm jealous haha - that's such a high bonus and I really hope they bring it back again!
Better to wait until the 100k bonus or 80k bonus comes back. They may bring it back.
SMH
Are prices on hotels and flights more expensive on the chase portal?
Hi Daniel, great video! Do you earn points for all purchases with this card? How long after you make a purchase does it usually take to receive your points? Thanks
Very good video.
Does Chase Sapphire Preferred offer travel insurance? Do you buy insurance when traveling?
Have been slowly building my Chase trifecta. This is the last card to get, just been accumulating a bunch of UR points. I have been waiting anxiously for them to up the 60,000 point bonus but it doesn't seem like they are going to.
So the saphari preferred you keep saying is ok card for points and cash back. So what’s the best card for that?
How can I close my forever 21 card? And would it lower my score even tho I never used it
Cool videos thanks for the top tips, you must be the only UA-camr always looking left and right while talking, secret audience looking on perhaps?
And I won't be down to 4/24 until may
What other cards do you use to get more points?
Is there a income requirement to get this card or can I just get it with a high enough credit score
The CSR offer ends in 3 days, I’m calling it December 1 the CSP is going to be 100,000 points or maybe even a surprise 120,000 points!
I really hope so!! That’s would be amazing to see a 100k offer!
But if I have to wait 6 months - 1 year, I'll do that too.
im still waiting to be under 5/24 plus i hope to see a sub closer to 100k+ again
I have this card and the capital one venture x card that I’m currently using for everyday spender . I’m thinking I want to get the chase trifecta . My question is … having the venture x , is it worth it to get the unlimited and or freedom flex as an everyday spender ?
Could you do this video but for the Reserve and go into detail like you are at 6:03? Love your content man
Hey Daniel, I was just curious about the Chase Points, so when you transfer those points to a Chase Travel Partner from the Sapphire Preferred Card, do you still get the 5% Cashback on it?
Thanks.
This is all I'm needing to finish my trifecta in January. The venture x is really starting to push me to reconsider though.
Im new to this travle point stuff. U said its a good beginner card. So i applied.. please help. Its kind of confusin. Sorry & ty
If you downgrade, what are the chances you keep the credit limit on the preferred? Right now I am approved for 13k, don't love the card, but looking to boost my available credit generally. If I could downgrade and retain that 13K limit that would work wonderfully.
What do you mean booked though case vs not booked though case?
what is credit limit
whats your everyday spend card?
My offers as of this morning show 80,000 points. Not sure if all offers are the same but take a look.
@@Daniel_Braun thank you. Looking forward to that video.
As a regular person, how much do I have to spend to earn 60k points (after the bonus)?
All depends on the categories you're spending in because it's different for each category. At 1x point per dollar, it's $60,000 of spending to get 60,000 points - but at 2x points per dollar (other travel), it's $30,000 of spending. So definitely a good reason why spending $4,000 to get 60,000 points on the sign up bonus is a good deal if you know you were already going to spend that money on normal expenses
I still can't decide between this card and the venture x I just feel chase points are more valuable
Strange.
Where did you see the 80k offer?
@Phil Fitial I took the plung at 80k, applied 2 weeks ago.
@@darrickd.8476 what do u mean plung? Im asking where did u the 80K offer?
@Phil Fitial I got itb3 weeks ago. Just kept checking "my offers" from the banking site
@@darrickd.8476 i dont bank with them. But I have 3 credit cards with them? And i dont see any offer for the 80k Derrick
Anyone think chase would be willing to waive the first-year fee or even give more points if spoken too ??
Sometimes they waive first year annual fee in branch from time to time. But it depends so I like to look around on Reddit to see what people are saying / for recent data points
How am I supposed to be earning points on a chase freedom unlimited while keeping a low credit utilization? It seems preposterous to be spending $10 on a card to keep a single digit utilization
you forgot to mention a massive benefit for some the free dash pass for door dash you save so much on fees if you use door dash
I am a fan of the preferred but mainly for the primary CDW. I would downgrade it to a freedom if I could get the venture x
Daniel, you mentioned using this card for Hulu streaming. Which entertainment service are you using for your Amex Platinum? I'm currently getting a credit for the Disney Hulu bundle.
Chase Sapphire Preferred has a 3x on streaming services
What are my odds of getting approved for this card? My credit score is 710. I don’t have a ton of credit history but what I do have is in good standing, my utilization is about 20%. Is this a card I should stay away from for a few years as I make good payments on what I currently already have, or do you think I would be approved with my current score.
I got this card 3 years ago with a 680 score and my utilization was 49% credit history at that time was 4 years
They said: do not use more than 30% on your credit card. How am i gonna spend 4000$ in 3 months?
It depends how much of a credit limit you get usually you'll get 10k minimum 7,500
@@juankroosfrausto7411 i got 5k mininum
@@mikenicolas4131 tough luck buddy.
Just got the welcome points and fee waived👌🏼

Car you buy a car with this card? Right now i have A discover card but i hear good things about this card but yeah i dont know yet but love your vids keep posting
Thanks so much for watching my videos William! Probably can't buy a car with it and I wouldn't recommend doing that anyway
I went to the chase bank near me and they had a branch offer of 70k points on the preferred. The additional 10k is spending another 2k by 6 months.
Interesting! That's the first I've heard of an offer like that - an extra 10k points is nice but that's a lot of spend for that. Still probably worth it to take advantage of that deal though! Thanks for sharing
Hi Daniel,
Does the 5/24 CHASE rule Applies to Authorized users on some one else's CARD?
Yes it does - good question!
It’s a great card but wow does their customer service suck. I say this as someone who has multiple accounts with Chase. As long as you don’t ever need their help their products are great but if you need service lord help you!
Daniel -- Chase Saffire Preferred ?...NOT! The BEST is CITI CUSTOM CASH....
Right now I have the offer for 80k
Where did you see that offer?
I wish they would do away with that stupid 5/24 rule tho. I want a chase card but it’s a couple other cards I want as well
I have questions 😂
