I have a question, I live out in western PA, and have 3 different trailcams set up around a small wooded area with lots of fields. It’s been this way for 5 months now and I haven’t seen a single coyote on my cameras, tons of deer,foxes,raccoons,possums,and turkeys, but no coyotes. I’ve tried salt licks and even throwing a groundhog carcass infront of them. I’ve howled at night before and occasionally I’ve gotten responses from way off into the distance. In your expierence, what works as a good coyote lure and what are the circumstances that could possibly be keeping them away from my area?
leppt deff I get several game cam pics of coyotes but most of the ones I get are from elevated cameras that are angled down toward the ground. Coyotes trot most of the time when they're traveling so if you're set up on a trail with narrow sight window and using a camera with slower trigger speed you may be missing them. I'm sure lack of coyotes isn't your problem. Try using any of the lures I mentioned, they're proven effective in the north, as well as the south.
